You can indeed get food with no problems. The resturant even opens after 11 to serve food that has not been eaten early, so you can have a good eat before you go.

the bellboys started coming to our room at 10 am on the day we were leaving, and the key was disabled before 12 too, even though that was our checkout time. We were still down at the pool when they came the first time, planning to go up at 11.30, shower and be out by 12. Our daughters were in their room and felt obliged to rush and leave, they turned up at the pool all dressed ready to go and told us what had happened. we were lucky that we had a daytime flight, so left the room, had some lunch and got picked up, no hanging about. we stuck to our plan, and the bellboy did come again but we told him we weren't ready and would take our own cases, we left the room at 11.40am so weren't keeping anyone waiting.

Looking back this sickness has been going on since June 2005 on and off. However, a few bad reports in August 2006 on Holidays Uncovered on the sickness for instance Salmonella etc!!! :(
Surely F/C know all about this instead of blagging us all, it's a lot of money to waste if we're going to be ill!!!
I will wait until the end of today for my reply from F/C and if I don't get one I will have to phone them
We book a holiday to enjoy not to worry!!!

Hi,

We were at the Tropical for a week on 16/9. we are a family with a 2 year old. We had no problems with queing for drinks, getting a sunbed in the shade, there were plenty. On our first day we booked att the a la acrte's and go in no probs. The cocktail bar at the tropical does not open till 7pm, if the bars were busy people formed a que, we never waited longer than 3/4 mins! Beach ok, but Sarigerme beach is lovely and worth the 1 ytl entrance fee. Turkish night Thursday with musicians in the restaurant, camel rides and a market, we got 5 dvd's for a tenner and they all are good copies. We found the Tropical much more civilised and relaxed than the Palace and are glad we booked the Tropical!!

This message is for everyone who booked a kids den and felt their rooms were not as described. I have complained to First Choice about the lack of TV in the kids den and late delivery of playstation and they have only offered half of my £224 supplement, I want all the supplement back. So I have complained to Trading Standards and Abta. Today I received an email from Trading Standards:

"Essex Trading Standards have received your complaint from Consumer Direct regarding the potentially misleading details for Pegasos Palace.

I have gained a copy of these details and can see the reason behind your confusion; it does appear that there would be an additional television in the Children's Den. I have contacted First Choice to check to see whether it was the hotel not having the correct facilities or the brochure is possibly mis-describing the facilities.

It does appear that the brochure may be incorrect, and therefore in addition to your civil claim Essex Trading Standards will be raising the issue with both the Trading Standards nearest First Choice head office and the company directly with regards to possible criminal matters.

With regards to your individual complaint I would suggest you write to First Choice again and state that their brochure is mis-leading. Explain you have booked the extra supplement with your holiday after reading the description of the additional item you would receive. You have thought there would be two televisions as the Children's Den states you get a television and play station, and the description of the family room also stated television so therefore you assumed there would be two. Request that they refund you the full supplement as you feel the mis-description has caused a breach which was substantial; the main reason for paying extra was for the additional television and playstation.

I will also send the information to the Trading Standards nearest First Choice's head office for their opinion/action"

I urge anyone who feels the same as me to write to Trading Standards via http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/complaints.shtml and also write to Abta via http://www.abta.com/howtocomplain.shtml and to First Choice via customerservices@firstchoice.co.uk . It seems to me they tell everyone 'you are the first to complain' as I was also told this about the tv's in the kids den!

You will also find that First Choice always ALWAYS ignore your first letter until you chase it up. I know it seems alot of hassle, but why should they get away with it. Our holiday was not cheap, we booked nice and early and looked forward to it, only to have poor customer service from First Choice when we brought this issue up. Just to add my husband was very ill while we were there in June 06, but, hey, that's a whole different complaint

i've written to first choice's head office twice about the kids den and the misrepresentation in the brochure, regarding the size of the room as well as there only being one tv, the brochure implies that you get a bedroom, lounge and separate kids den, whereas we now know that the den is instead of the lounge. no answer to either letter. i then got an invitation to the local branch to the launch of the first choice books for summer 07, so i wrote to the manager enclosing copies of my letters and saying that i won't be booking with first choice unless the matter is resolved, i asked him to contact head office and chase it up. still no reply from either the local shop or head office.

well my wife and I returned from PP last sunday and we had a fantastic time. we had two weeks of eating, drinking and lazing about.
we never got ill, never heard of anyone else who got ill and never got bit by mozzies.
I would reccomend it to anyone and would go back tomorrow

the choice and amount of food was amazing, the staff more than helpful.
and to those people complaining about the lack of playstations and TVs, for gods sake your on holiday! go for a walk on the beach!

I returned back to the UK last Friday morning and lots of people waiting with me for the first choice flight back to Manchester were covered in bites and were all saying that out of the two weeks they had at the resort they were sick most of the time with some of them on drips because of dehydration due to diaorehha and vomiting.

They were all saying that they were going to pursue some sort of compensation due to the fact that the staff did not want to know so I gave them all the HT solicitors details which I always have in my laptop bag so hopefully something will be done so future people will not suffer the same fate.

I do not have phone numbers or names of these people for proof before anybody asks but just thought I would let people know.

people are not complaining for no reason, they are asking for something that was stated in the brochure, if you pay for something you should get it ? ive got kids and i know having something like a play station to keep them busy when you are getting ready to go out is a godsend, and was you wearing a space suit not to get bitten by the mossies there are billions of them.
Reply
no space suit, just an application of Boots insect repellant on ankles and wrists each night did the trick.
the people who I spoke to who got bit didnt use any repellant at all, so they were asking for trouble
Reply
We used boots 50 % deet roll on repellant every night and never got bitten.

hi everyone, can i just say that just because a lot of people have been ill and i do feel for them as thats the last thing anyone wants when on holiday but can everyone definatly say it was because of the food? or maybe it was that nasty bug that was at the tropical last year, as i've said before myself and 2 daughters got this bug last oct and i knew straight away that it was a bug because my youngest daughter was only 10 months and had'nt eaten the food. myself and my 16yr old were very poorly with sickness and diaorehha and i believe that we were only well enough for the flight because we had taken a sachet of dyrilyt each which rehydrated us, when we had returned to uk the other three children all came down with it one by one and it really knocked us off our feet.
anyway we still enjoyed the holiday and we returned this year to stay in the palace an had another fantasatic holiday with no sickness at all and we have just booked for another 2 weeks in july next year.
all i want to say is if you are going just take care to check your food just in case, i know you should'nt have to but it only takes a few seconds, take plenty of anti-mozzie stuff (i think i'll try that boots stuff next year and if that does not work buy sin kov again and take some dyrilyt just in case (it works wonders) oh and plenty of water everyone

Hi Hayley/John

I really understand where you are coming from, but the whole idea of an AI is to eat what you want when you want. I would be really weary of what my children ate therefore I couldn't relax! :?

Perhaps its just me

hi nia, i understand what you mean and you should'nt really have to check your food before eating but my children are 17, 13, 10, 8 and the youngest is neally 2 and we have taught them to just have a look to see if its cooked before eating apart from the youngest of course who would eat it anyway! i would even do this if we were half board or eating out in a different country. we thought the food was really nice and yes my daughter did have a piece of undercooked chicken one night but noticed straight away and left it, i think it happens where ever you go and i think the p/p and the p/t hold something like 5000 people and i know they were'nt all sick when we were there.
say you went somewhere else and there were two hotels next to each other i reckon there must be a handfull in each hotel that gets some sort of stomach upset, anyway without going on too much yes i do think that it is bad that people are ill dont get me wrong but if it was the food surely most people would be bad?? :?
anyway on another subject that mcfester brought up about a diary for the kids clubs i think thats a great idea as i have to take a note book to each kids club and write down what is going on for whole week and a diary would be so much easier :)

we are going to go ahead and go to PP despite the reports.

hope to see you from 7th Oct.

anyone else going at this time?

The type of bugs that have been confirmed as making people sick such as salmonella are food related, mainly down to poor hygene and undercooked food. So the answer to the earlier question is that it was definately the food that made me ill.

Boots 50% deet did not work at all for me I got bit bad but I am surprised as it is really potent!

we were in pt the same time as mcfester. we used jungle formula tropical strength spray, avon skin so soft and boots aftersun with added insect repellent and we still got eaten alive. there are millions of the little buggers. as for the food myself and hubby were quite poorly for a good few days but our son (who hardly ate a thing) was fine. he got unwell because he was run down due to not eating enough. he wasn,t sick just a couple of ear infections. so i think that there is a problem in this resort.
