They also have a few/couple suites within the main hotel. I had one of these, for the normal seaview upgrade (about £80).
If I went again, I would have a normal seaview room. BECAUSE they have a jacuzzi (in the normal bath shaped bath INSIDE the bathroom), but the shower is a over the bath type of thing & not fantastic.
But in the normal rooms, you get a big walk in (wet room effect) power shower.
As I prefer a shower to a bath & I would have prefered a great shower.
We did have a nice lounge & 2 loos & 2 basins, BUT we never really used the lounge. So I would rather have had the showers.
BUT if you get the jacuzzi suites you probably get a great power shower, a great sea view & a round jacuzzi on the double balcony over looking the med. I think it worked out a bit over £200 for us for the 14 nights.
I had already paid the seaview supplement & couldn't get them to understand they should subtract this OFF the upgrade (as I would have got the first one, if I were getting the jacuzzi suite one), but I couldn't make them understand this. So ended up just with the seaview supplement.
Hi
hope you had a good time lally as last review i read wasnt good, ill look forward to reading your review
Hope youve had a good time Lynne . We are all waiting in suspense no pressure of course
Here goes with the brief version!
Location is fab, views across the sea to some small villages, islands and Kos with a sunset that the photographs really don,t do justice to.Flanked on both sides by small hotels to the right and La Blanche , villas and restaurants to the right then a easy 10 min stroll into Turgutreis itself
Room - OK, my first thought on arrival at 5am was that the bathroom needed a re -grout Clean big wet room type shower, water temp would change 6/7 times during the shower might be a problem with little ones.
Didn,t get a sea view - hotel was full and despite best efforts of rep(who was great) they couldn,t move us till day 10 so didn,t bother. Rooms cleaned daily to a high standard but on a few occasions not until 6pm
Public areas and pool area are spotless
Pools- there are 3 outdoor ones, the main one is small (esp compared to the Belcekiz lyn) but was never crowded , sunbeds at a premium here though the are plenty around slide pool ,on beach and I never had a problem with getting a perch on either of the jetties
Food & drink - ok, never knew you could cook Turkey so many ways! Grill each day was good, other stuff hot but so many people left the lids up, it was unbelievable! Repetitive but not bad , managed to put on half a stone!! Never tried the speciality places, menu didn't appeal to the girls but most seemed to enjoy them
Starlight bar was my favourite , more atmosphere and that view, lobby bar and courtyards for a peaceful drink. Didn't like the pool bar at night, long queues and not enough staff and still plastic glasses even at night . No waiter service in any of the bars
All staff great, very pleasant
Entertainment - usual stuff during the day but the shows -aarrgghh (imo)
New team apparently, a few joining around 6 weeks ago. They are all very nice and very keen but need a bit of work!!
No mozzies but lots of kittens , found 5 asleep on my terrace one morning!!
Majority of guests are British, around 60% I would say
Just read back and it sounds a bit negative, I don't mean it to be. I liked the hotel very much just didn't love it
lyn , no joy with next years prices - they said not ready until oct
Not too worried about the sunbed situation. Im always good at that !! and I will be first in the queue at 6am if necessary.
Food couldnt have been too bad then Lynne . I done well this year only 5 pounds heavier. must have been sweating it all off !!!
lyn
We had the jacuzzi suite which was fab. The hotel was fantastic we all really enjoyed it, the food was good, the starlight bar is excellent. Overall we had a fab time there and would return.
I am looking for a holiday somewhere else in turkey any ideas would be good.
The Belcekiz beach hotel in Olu Lisa . We have just returned . I have been looking at the ADR for over a year now and have already booked cheap flights to bodrum a couple of months ago so if all goes well hopefully I will book the accomodation with thomson for ADR and overall should save about £1200. A little concerned that its getting a few more bad reviews but I trust everyone here on HT and feel I should stick to my original instincts as long as on the whole most people are happy. The belcekiz will be hard to beat but im expecting that.
We booked the hotel direct with them and got the jacuzzi room for £1800.00, its worth a go. When are you going? We really enjoyed the hotel and alot of people we met there are booking again for next year. I would even go back but we have always said we would always try different hotels.
With your children they will love it, free watersports, football pitch, disco, internet cafe so much to do. We really enjoyed it there. The food was very good, plenty to choose from.
If you have any questions happy to help
no BB only does rooms for 3 which is not ideal for a bigger family with smaller children. im past that stage now and 2 rooms usually works out cheaper for us when we have to pay 4/5 adult prices.
My son has just said he would like to go back next year... We will have to decide.
I will put some pictures on in the photo gallery for you to see.
http://www.aegeanflights.com a few days after they came out for £106 each. there are several threads going but unfortunately prices have gone up now but you could take a look they may still be a good price compared to other airlines.
Lisa.I booked the flights from gatwick with ive just booked some more flights to turkey with aegean for easter now got to stop booking hols and flights got 5 hols booked at the mo, im very naughty lol
lyn bb is on my list of places to visit 1 day all reviews look excellent, glad you had a good holiday too
I had a suite in the main hotel (oblong jacuzzi in bathroom, rather than big round one on the balcony).
My daughter is going next year, would you say the jacuzzi suites are worth the £200+ that they cost over & above a sea-view room?
Lally,
Did you not book a sea-view then?
I think you would be keener on it if you had. The view you saw from the Starlight bar, I had every morning & night. My room was below the Starlight bar, not one of those that you can see into the balconys from the bar, but below them.
When I was there the Brits were nowhere near 60%, they were only a few of us.
It was nearly all Belgium people, but they were really nice. Probably nicer than the Brits or Germans (LOL).
We booked direct with the hotel, but i would def recommend having the jacuzzi on the balcony....we had our 3 children and they loved it sitting in the jacuzzi watching the sunset...
When were you there kim?
My daughter & her boyfriend are going for a couples holiday, no kids to sit in the jacuzzi, lol. Is it still worth it?
I missed the walk in power shower, as I had an indoor jacuzzi, we only had a normal shower over the bath type of thing, rather that a really good shower.
Did you have a walk in power shower in yours?
Did you have them funny round coloured glass windows in your door?
I seen them in the other rooms in the jacuzzi block.
Yes we still had a walk in power shower..with the glass windows (opaque). I didnt know there were rooms directly under the starlight bar...
Your daughter will have a great time
They are in the hotel room door, did you not have them on your rooms?
If you had looked at the rooms under you, you would have seen them.
Yes, there are rooms under the Starlight bar, but if you sit in the bar by the sea you can see right into their balconys below. I'm not sure I would have liked a room right below the bar. We were below these again. Did you see around the corner in the restaurant, there was a little table laid out for kids & babies? well we were right above that. Fantastic sea view & about as close as you could get to it.
One more question, were the jacuzzi rooms big, because from the ground they look like double the size of the normal rooms (well the balconys are double anyway aren't they?).
Kim - yes I did book a seaview but when I arrived didn't have one!! Hotel was fully booked and none available!
Susan the Rep came with me every day for the first few days to speak to reception but was always told none available come back tomorrow. She was really angry and pushed the issue more than I did as I was quite ok with the room I had after the initial disappointment - quiet, looking over a garden. The rep has taken it to the quality manager( who e mailed me today) and insisted I fill in a complaints form before I left. apparently they have had an issue with the hotel re this the last 3 weeks.
Apart from Brits it was then mostly belgians and Turks but most def Brits in the majority
lyn -
Can't compare with the BB really , its like trying to compare an apple with a pear!
Plenty for teenagers , my eldest enjoyed the disco the times she went but preferred to lurk in the internet cafe with other teenage lurkers!!
Youngest did 2 SCUBA dives in the sea and loved it.
Will put a full review on tomorrow - just finished my first shift so shattered but just to say again great holiday, very nice hotel and wish I was still there !!
Lally
