BudArpads Lazar apartment would have been excellent if not for the catalogue of problems experienced whilst staying here.
1. Boiler fault requiring us to open a valve to allow water into the boiler which ended with it leaking through a pipe into a basin, which required empting through the night. This was sorted by putting an extra bit of piping on the end so it could leak into the bath.
2. No heating or hot waterõ at times due to faulty boiler
3. One shower out of order, not previously informed before arrival. Unable to use throughout stay. Picked apartment for the two showers, being a group of 4 women, costing more.
4. Door handle off door so unable to close door when in toilet for privacy, this had the only working shower.
5. Toilet roll holder came away from wall
6. Fridge managed to freeze all foods and drink, no way of turning it up to ensure this did not happen
This was like staying at Mr Bean's apartment with everything either coming away in our hand or not working in the first place.
Normally tolerant people we were enraged by the total mishandling of this situation and the absent communication by the vendor. It meant a lot of phoning the UK to ask for things to be attended to and despite sending a handy man to do what he could (not a lot, despite his excellent efforts) at no time was it communicated what measures were being put in place.
The vendor accepted this was totally inadequate and accepted that we did not get what we paid for; she then offered us an up-grade, which was gratefully accepted. The flat required to be cleaned before a move could be arranged. Again this required us to phone to find out that this was no longer an option as no cleaner could be arranged. Compensation was discussed for the problems incurred and the absent service, however no further contact was made by the vendor to settle this matter and we decided to not let it spoil our short stay in Budapest, as it had already ruined 1 day. We decided to carry on with all the above problems, making the best of things, indeed it had became laughable that this apartment could have been rented at all.
This was a very disappointing experience as this company had come highly recommended from a friend. It was inadequately prepared, no message had been received prior to arrival of any problems and the communication when you have a problem is completely exasperating.
I will not be using budapartments again and informing people to do the same.
We have now been home 3 weeks and have had no correspondence, apology or compensation from the vendor. Hope this informs you to make the right choice.
