Sydney,
Pam7,
Why don't you just see what your "local" agents see and stop all this panick?
They say that BIRMINGHAM and LONDON do not accept postal applications.
However you can use FAST TRACK postal services which charge:
Normal delivery 4-5 days £60 per app.
Fast track 1-3 days £105 per app.
India Visa Office
P O Box 348
Grays Essex
RM17 9AG.
Also....oap had a response from Edinburgh saying that they were also happy to recieve applications from Cumbria where I live
I give up.....they need to put together a plan..something consistant between all the offices.
Just what is going on????
Thanks Spinner, everything ready to go now just waiting for the weekend postal strike to be over.

Now...that's not too far from me.....can you pick one up from there...or do they THEN send it off (ie...little man taking them) to HCI in London?
Ah....its just a PO box?
I don't use local "agents" and none of the authorised ones in London are anywhere near me (a 5 hour journey). However a friend in Derby is offering to send ours with his regular courier to Birmingham at the same time as he sends his application so this may be the answer for us. Other visa services locally charge ridiculous fees.
You say don't panic! I say "yeah right" I am not the only one who is starting to panic judging by the number of posts on this thread. My main concern is that if Birmingham is gonna process a large percentage of those applications that are normally dealt with by London we will all be waiting much longer AND potentially IMO there is more chance for passports etc to become lost. (nightmare for everyone I think) However, I'll do my best to panic no more.
Had an e-mail back from Birmingham today, they wont deal with my application
It would save a lot of anxiety and confusion, not to mention that they wouldnt have to answer loads of emails!
I've still had no reply from Birmingham!!
Pam, took three days to get reply back
.....so HOW long can others expect their visas to be returned. Mind you....I've not had a reply from my MP yet either! Wonder if he's Indian?
Are they saying that if you live within a certain distance from them, you are expected to go there personally, if so, why not put it on their website?
I need to find someone to deal with my postal visas very soon as my boy is 50 this year and I want to surprise him with a holiday in Goa so he can have a birthday meal in his favourite restaurant.
Who knows Pam how long its going to take. Like I mentioned before I have been told I can apply by post but I wont be able to relax until I actually have the visas. I would send for them now if I could in case they change the rules again ( I wouldnt put it past them ) but I cant, we dont go till January.
I have emailed Birmingham. Will let you know if they reply.
Michelle
Thanks, but I think we've all done that already. There doesn't appear to be any surgeries in the south of UK
Nor in the far North of England or Scotland
