Hey there Donnakb,
When are you coming over again in the new year? My cousin is coming over with his wife in January for 10 days and as i am good friends with the boss of Atlantic Gardens, they will be staying there. Did you have lots of fun last visit?
laurie cool
Hi there! We are looking to come over in January, as soon as we have booked will let you know dates. Stayed at Atlantic Gardens In july this year and a fantastic time. Cannot wait to go back!
Also will weather be OK in March? First time to Canaries so not sure.
Julez
If you ask the right people, you get the right answers! no offence intended to you "tourists" but as a resident on the island and running tours regularly from hotels, i do know a little more than those who only come here for a week or so!!
The building work next door to the atlantic has grown from its footings last year, to a full 5 storey building shell, the cranes are hovering over the site as we speak! building work here is likely to go on until August/September as thats when the foreman informed me that its hoped to be completed. The management at the Atlantic Gardens are very cooperative and understanding, and do not put people in the apartments that are alongside the building work.
The builders over here work weekdays and its rare that any noise will be evident at weekends.
The whole or Corralejo is being developed, all the outskirts are having new hotels/apartments and private building work done, so any hotels up near the top end of the main street, behind the Baku water park and new market, and hotels between PEDRO Y GUY VANDALEE road,(from where the OASIS PAPAGAYO HOTEL is) right down to the roundabout near the LAS AGUJAS aparthotel(on the last stretch before the sandy beaches and dunes), and as far back up as the Atlantic Gardens hotel. All these roads between these areas have new building projects going on with new hotels and apartments being built with the usual huge cranes spoiling the skyline.
This is to let you know that this is an ongoing development area, but it is not as intrusive as it sounds! it really depends on your location and the current state of development around that complex. So, if you are not sure, then ask, and as i am there twice a week, and in Caleta Twice a week, i can RELIABLY inform you of development!.
The Atlantic Gardens also have sold off several of their apartments, so thats why there are not so many available to rent now! but the hotel is excellent value for money and you wont be dissapointed.
If you are looking for a really excellent self catering facility, then try the 4 star Atlantis Suites owned by the Atlantis Hotels group, you get a superior junior suite with all mod cons in luxurious surroundings, with the options to go all inclusive or half board. its in Calle Las Dunas, in Corralejo, and has its own beach club and only a short walk to the beach proper.
If you want to avoid building works, then the hotels to choose are either in town or just along the waterfront, they were built earlier and no building works, close to town and nightlife, but being in the town, it will be noisier than usual!.
Caleta also has some developments going on, mostly on Chipmunk mountain, in fact, the houses and apartments are now right to the top!! hardly a chipmunk to be seen now!
Development work all along the shoreline from Caleta bay right round to the Atlantico Centre, with the Sheraton and Hilton hotels being builtnew housing( more like little shoe boxes if you ask me!) being built all around the golf course.
Finally, the few among you who know about the shipwreck, "ss America" or as she is now, the "AMERICAN STAR", she has been wrecked to a very bad state in the november tropical storm. The storm pulled the ship around slightly and opened it up to the full force of the sea, where the funnel collapsed and fell into the sea, the rear end has collapsed in on itself and has sunk into the deep water channel. A lot of debris from inside the ship has been washed up on the two sandy sandy beaches of the bay, including many toilet seats!! a bunkbed including its matress and various other odds and ends! mostly bits of wood from the panelling and decking etc.
The ship has lost its attractive upright stance, and now is listing badly with the rear end open to the full force of the sea, and its now only a matter of time before it collapses completely in on itself. if the weather and strong seas hold off a bit, its quite likely to last the summer without too much more damage, but the prognosis is that the ship will not survive another winter and will just be a pile of scrap metal in the water by next year.
I have up to date digital pics and movie if any one wants any, then email me.
ANY info i can help with, just ask!!!
have a good one!.
ps.
The weather right now is 21 degrees, sunny and warm with a cool breeze, cooler at night, so come with some warm clothing for evening wear and the strong winds during the day! January is almost the wettest month, its supposed to rain a max of 14 days a year here, and i think we have had that all in the last month!! hasta la vista amigo's!!
pps. Just remembered, if you lovely people like the chipmunks, then it seems that a whole colony of them have found a new home in the bay in front of the America Shipwreck! be careful where you park because the little chaps are running all over the place! very friendly and come right up to you, especially if you offer them nuts etc, but their favourite seems to be crinkle cut ham and bacon crisps!!
If you want to visit the wreck yourself, then email me and ill send you a detailed map of directions. bye for now!
any advice on how to get round this or how to get in touch with them seperately.
Sunset/thomas cook doesnt seem to have anything in the summer??????
Neil Campbell
hi Neil, do you want the phone number of the hotel so you can book direct? I am going into Corralejo today and i will call in to see Carlos(the owner) and see what the situation is with new bookings, i know he always keeps a few apartments in reserve for friends etc, that thomas cook cannot get at!!

Please do not post in phone style text, eg u instead of you. Some of our visually impaired members use screen readers which cannot recognise this type of text. Thanks
I have booked my boyfriend a holiday for his 21st and we are going to Fuerteventura, atlantic gardens on march 22nd.
I have read nearly all of the seven pages on atlantic gardens (!) and want to say thank you to everyone posting info about the apartments and building works. I am of course slightly worried about this, but am taking advice to fax/phone atlantic gardens to checks room allocation. Any more info on what the apartments are like would be much appreciated! (I'm going SC)
What is the weather like for March time? How chilly does it get in the evening?
Also can any suggest any good day trips...?!
Laurie, if you read this, have you got your website up and running yet??
Many Thanks
Mac
There are a few apartments at the Atlantic that are reserved with THOMAS COOK and the owner says that there are 2 not booked yet, owner has not got any apartments himself that are free .Also, i dont know if you know, but a few of the apartments were sold off privately,(still a couple for sale) and if you cant get a booking through thomas cook, then try this number and ask for Andrew. mobile is 07971 412851 or evening number is 01621 817395 I do belive there are vacancies when you want to travel and stay so if you cant sort anything with Andrew then he will give you the hotel number and just maybe if you speak to the owner you might swing it!! if you manage to book the apartment privatly, then go to thomas cooks website for flights only or exel.com and you can book flights cheaply if you do it well in advance ok?
It could work out cheaper for you!
carhire on the island is best booked through http://www.doyouspain.com where you get a new car at the lowest island prices and do not have to book using your credit card, so very safe.
i will ask if there are any other apartments at the atlantic through some friends i have in the estate agency in town.
best wishes
laurie

hi again! website will be sorted this week hopefully!!
If you haven't done so already, you can read reviews of the hotel by clicking on Hotel Reviews at the top of the page.
luci
Atlantic Gardens is probably one of the nicest/cleanest aparthotels in corralejo! staff are really friendly and helpful.
As for things to do mate, well it all depends on how much you want to spend here and how adventurous you are!
My Overland tour in a jeep or now ive got the WW2 Dodge out here and its quite an experience, is not for everyone.
There are several good site addresses i can give you to lok at if you want, some are friends of mine who do sub-aqua courses, sailing, fishing trips, catamaran trips etc etc. jetski's and boat hire.
From July, i have been working on an idea that ive had for a while, and its nearly ready to go, but it really is going to be for a limited range of people. Microlight trips around the island, ive got permission to use mine from my land in Pajara, but am working on getting landing permission at a site up at corralejo.
If you want to see what interior pics and photo's of atlantic gardens are like now, then go to http://www.key-fuerteventura.com you can see the complex from a buyers point of view with photos etc.
also, if you go to google and type in atlantic gardens and click on search images, you will find a few there too.
best of luck mate!
laurie
by the way, march out here is warm, could need a warm jumper in the evenings, but generally its ok!
hasta la vista mate!
Firstly thanks for the Link - looks great! As I booked over the phone, had not seen many pics of the resort or apartments.
Have a feeling my partner would love your Overland Tours in a jeep! How can I get hold of you when I out there? Will it be part of the reps welcome, or do you work alone?
Also would love sub-aqua course - my kind of thing!
It all sounds exactly what I was hoping for.
Thank you for your help
i definately do not work with reps!! the itineries that they show people on packages are in my opinion, overpriced!. I work alone and am very choosy! there are certain people that i wont take because once bitten twice shy applies!!
I cant remember when you are coming, but let me know a week before and ill give you my mobile on the island and arrange a tour for you at a good rate!
you can also look up these sites for more info: http://www.backtrax1.com http://www.punta-amanay.com http://www.thebuzz-fuerteventura.com all will give you more info on things you like to do etc.
If you like eating out then you will be spoiled for choice in Corralejo, and will be accosted by all the eating places trying to get you go to their particular place to eat!
But!
2 good places to eat that i can recommend, is chinese Palillos de Oro 1 they do all you can buffet at 7.80 euro's per adult and thats pretty good food! its just down the main street on the left.
The other good eating experience is the "La Cantina" mexicana in the centro comercial plaza off the main street. great mexican dishes and good value!.
Of course there are loads more and equally good, but thats a favourite of mine when i am up there!
You probably notice on the island that the water here is very soft and good for your skin, but if you havent tried it, and your girlfriend will be more interested in this probably! but theres a little shop that sells everything, its opposite the Corralejo garden hotel in the town, and they have the cheapest "Aloe Vera" soap bars at 1.20 euro's a bar.
I use this stuff all the time, and its good for your skin and helps keep your tan in too!.
just a little tip.
well, got loads to do today.
have fun
hasta la vista.
You've given me loads of info on Atlantic Gardens, Corralejo and things to do. I appreciate the recommended restaurants too. (I like my food - especially chinese)
Thanks ever so much, you have really put my mind at rest - now I can get on to looking forward to the holiday and not worry so much!
Thanks again
Mac
I'm going to the AG on 1st March 06, does anyone know if the building work is still going on?
Thanks
unfortunatly there is building and development work going on all around corralejo, but it really isnt intrusive unless you have a room etc right next to it all!
Atlantic gardens apartments numbers are : ground floor apartments 111 to 193 the apartment that are near the building work are from 163 to 193. if you ask for an apartment between 112 and 154 you will be ok.
on the upper floor apartments the numbers to avoid are 265 to 293 and ask for between 201 and 254, all these are away from the building work. if you want a diagram of the complex with room numbers, give me your email address and ill send it to you.
dont worry!! enjoy your stay here!
regards
laurie
just wondered whether anyone knows if Atlantic Gardens have safes in their rooms? Just for passports money etc.
Thanks Mac
