8) you should be ashamed of yourself!! you are coming here on holiday!! never mind the designer shopping!!

There are several shops that sell good designer stuff, but be warned! its not as cheap as you can expect in the UK. also, better warn you in advance! The markets here at Corralejo and Caleta are full of designer "fakes" at obviously low prices, so take care not to get fooled!

Do yourself a favour when you go to the Atlantic Gardens, get yourself a toasted ham and cheese sandwich and a san miguel and sit by the pool and enjoy!! best toasted sandwiches ive ever had!!

hasta la vista!

Does anyone know the address for the Atlantic Hotel? We have opted against the oganised transfers and will be getting a txi from the airport.

Hi Cailtin and welcome to HT!

I don't think you will need the address if you are getting a taxi. Just give them the name of the hotel and they will get you there.

8) Hi Caitlin,

If you are getting a taxi from the airport, it will cost you nearly as much as hiring a car for the week! go to http://www.doyouspain.com and book a little car to pick up at the airport! no fuss, you dont have to leave your card details and all the cars are nearly new. A taxi will cost you over 50 euros to corralejo and back.

Also, if you still decide to go by taxi, make sure of your hotel! a lot of people get mixed up with the Atlantic Hotel and the Atlantic Gardens! they are quite close to each other but the Atlantic Hotel is a 5 star hotel and not a 3 star aparthotel as is the Atlantic Gardens. There is also an Atlantic Suites Hotel(very nice!) and this also is close by, so if you want to let me know the exact hotel you are going to, i will give you the correct address ok?

regards

laurie.

Thanks for your reply last week Laurie, you're very helpful.

I'm going to Corralejo on Wednesday, can anyone tell me what the weather's doing at the moment please? Is it cloudy? Will i be cold in shorts?

I looked at some forecasts & it looks like it might rain next week! :(

8) Hi matey! well what seems to be happening at the moment, is that the blocking weather over the UK has forced the wet weather further south, hence a little more rain down these parts than usual.

Good news is, its warm here! rain is very infrequent, in fact, it rains usually for about 12 days through december/jan/feb, but not normally much after that. You will be ok in shorts here during the day, because even if it rains lightly etc, its still warm enough, but at night you would be better off with more on and a light top to keep the slight chill off!.

Dont be put off, its never what you expect when you get here, my friends came to visit me on the 15th jan, and stayed for a week, it rained off and on that week, but the one thing they remarked on was how you felt that warm air as soon as you walk off the airplane.
Take a few warm clothes for nightime and dont worry, you will still get a good tan!!

by the way, today its warm with a little cloud!

Thank you Laurie for your advise, but I think we'll stick to getting a taxi to and from the airport - afterall we are on our hols!
We are staying at the Atlantic Gardens apartments? do you have an address?
Reply
Thank you Luci for the welcome to HT!

Friends have just returned and mentioned that if you don't have the hotel address it can be difficult to find for the taxi driver to locate the hotel/apartment as many hotels/apartments have the same name.
If you have the address that would be great. - many thanks

8) Hi Caitlin,

No problem, I dont know what you have heard or been told, but all the taxi's know where the hotels are, where you have to be specific is when there are several hotels with similar names.
The Atlantic Gardens Aparthotel is what you need to tell the taxi driver, and the correct address is: avenue Gran Canaria 7, 35660, Corralejo.
you will know when you are at the right place as it is lit up in a big green sign outside the entrance and the building works is right next door.

iF YOU ARE USING TRANSPORT WHILE HERE, THEN THE LOCAL BUSES ARE CHEAP AND EFFICIENT OK!
 Have a good holiday.

Thanks so much for the information Laurie.

You have put my mind at reast regarding the taxi drivers. I had visions of my friends and I being stranded at the wrong hotel!

Really looking forward to the break now.

Just wanted to thank Laurie for the hotel address - we would have been stranded without it. The taxi's seem not to know the Atlantico Gardens Aparthotel due to a recent name change??!!?? We had to ask 3 taxi drivers before one agreed to take us as he roughly knew where we were going but still had to stop to ask someone directions! I would have said it was a language barrier but one of my friends is fluent in Spanish!

I would advise anyone to make sure they have the full address before setting off.

Got back from my week in the sun last wednesday (seems like an age ago now!)

For all who are worried about the building work at Atlantic Gardens:
Don't worry! Our room was on the side of the building work, but still it was not intrusive. You can see the cranes moving, and hear the odd banging but thats all!
The apartments are very clean - I always take anti-bacterial wipes just in case but I had not need for them this time. The staff are lovely, especially Pia on reception. It is only a short walk to town, and on the walk home I suggest stopping at the hut that sells Crepes! Very naughty but veyr nice!

I had an excellent time at Atlantic Gardens, and would definetly go back. If any one has any questions about it, let me know!

And another big Thank you to Laurie - who gave me lots of info on Fuert before I went.

Take Care

Mac
