Hi, i'm new on here. I've been readin this forum for months but decided to finally join! We returned from the Bahia Principe Costa Adeje 2 weeks ago. We were there for 10 days - 2 adults, 1 child and 1 baby. We had a junior suite and were in block number 7, floor 3. We had the most amazing view over the sea and bottom pool. I would recommend this room. The only downside to being in block 7 was that we had to use the lifts and corridors to reach the restaurants, bars, receptions etc because of having a pushchair. There is a couple of paths instead of steps but there still are steps you have to use that doesn't have a path aswell.
Regardless of that we had a fantastic holiday, the weather was great and the staff very friendly. The food was very good especially in the italian and spanish restaurant. Anyone going here for a holiday won't be disappointed. One thing I do think they should do though is stock fresh milk in the little shop. We needed milk for the baby and had to walk to the supermarket in Playa Paraiso to buy some.

Hi,

First time posting for me. I have been reading lots of great things about the Bahia Principe and I'm really looking forward to our holiday in July, 2 adults & 2 kids in a junior suite for 2 weeks. I just have a couple of points that I would like some help with please, firstly is there an ATM anywhere near the hotel. If you want to try an a'la carte restaurant in the other block of the Hotel does it still take 2 of your allocations.
In the evenings, I've read on a few reviews, that there is a bouncy castle to keep the small ones occupied could someone just confirm that is the case as our little ones would love that.
Finally we have visited the Papagayo arena in Lanzarote for the last couple of years and that was great but I'm expecting the Bahia Principe to be better has anyone been to both places and if so what comparisons are there between the two?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
To answer a couple of your questions:
I'm not sure about an atm, there may be one near the supermarket but can't say for sure.
Also, I don't know about the restaurants in the other block, we asked if we could book them and they said no. Never gave a reason, we would have preferred the asian and mexican really. The italian and spanish was nice though.
In 'pueblo principe' - the square across from reception - is where the evening entertainment is. There are a few shops and at the back there is a bouncy castle and some coin operated rides. There is also a man selling popcorn and sweets! I think it was 3 euros for unlimited time? They just put a sticker on your childs back so they know who has paid if they come off and then want to go back on again later! My eldest who is 9 went on most nights.
I'm sure you will have a great time, we did.

Does anyone know how much a taxi from the airport to the hotel would cost ?

Thanks.

From what I can remember, it was about 30 euros.

Thanks for recent responses. Only a few weeks until we go. Taxi at 30 euros appears a good option to get to the hotel quickly.

Junior suites appear to be in block 7 with foor 3 as a recommendation. How many floors are in block 7 ?

Thanks again.

We are travelling with Airtours and staying in a junior suite. The Airtours brochure says we will be in the Adeje side but speaking to Airtours customer service it now seems more likely we will be in Tenerife side. With two kids, aged 12 and 10 is there a preferred hotel, for pool, activities etc. ??

Thanks in advance.

Hi Fitba,

In the same situation as you travelling with direct holidays in July with 2 kids a little younger than yours. From the feedback on this site and others I don't think it will make much difference which Hotel you end up in as you can walk between them and pick which pool etc suits you best and the evening entertainment is shared. It appears the Tenerife is the quieter of the 2 and the Adeje is closer to the sea but I think, (hope) either choice will give a great holiday.

Thanks for reply Southernboy. I noticed your earlier post - we too stayed at the Papagayo (Easter) and thought it was very good, but expecting even better at Bahia Principe.

Hi Fitba

No problem, yes the Papagayo was very good but I hope that the promise of more places to eat will give the Bahia Principe the edge, also the pools look fantastic, only a couple of weeks to go now, can't wait!

Hi all, we have booked to goto this hotel next August 08. its the first time we have gone all - inclusive and i am after some idea what i can expect. we are a family of 4, 2 adults, 2 girls aged 10 & 5. we have booked a 1 bedroom villa. can anyone tell me if the package is good, i.e.is it local beer and spirits and how they taste  and what the food is like e.t.c. also if anyone has stayed in a 1 bed villa. will there be enough for entertainment or will we have to go out of the complex. i have read many reports, which to be fair are mainly positive however also if anyone has stayed in a 1 bed villa i would like to know what the villas are like.
thanks

Dawse, I have not stayed in the villa but have stayed in the Hotel. The food was lovely. There are also specialiality restaurant and they must be book as soon as you arrived to get the night you want. We had book to go to the fish on on our last night but cancelled and went to the buffet instead as it was so good.
The drinks are local and my opinion was that it was quite weak. My husband drinks whisky and did not like it at all.
The entertainment for the kids was in the square in the evenings
A lovely hotel but too far out for my liking. I would prefer Fanabe or Adeje as I like to walk around shops after dinne

thanks for that. did you also get the mini bar topped up and what make was the beer

Hi. We have just returned (Tues) from our 3rd stay at this hotel and had a villa suite for the 2nd time. If you want any particular info you can PM me. I also have brought back a map of the complex so anyone wanting a copy can PM me.

Mini bar is topped up daily - 2 cans of Dorada, diet coke, coke, lemon fanta and orange fanta. Also 2 bottles of water. If you don't drink all your bar one day and think you might need extra if planning to go out - hide it in the wardrobe! You will then be topped back up again with a full days allocation!

Hope this helps

GET HOLD OF SOME CARDBOARD MACDONALD DRINKS CARRIERS WILL COME IN HANDY AT THE POOL FOR CARRYING YOUR DRINKS

We stayed at the Bahia Principe Costa Adeje from 30th July - 8 August 2006.

We flew with First Choice Airways from Manchester and took advantage of the extra leg room seats on offer £20 per person and ended up with just the 2 of us, nice start to the holiday.

Upon arrival we got a taxi from outside the arrivals and with in 20 minutes we arrived at the hotel. Cost was 25 Euros.

RECEPTION

When you arrive and your bags are taken out of the vehicle a porter will put them to one side, and says book in, book in"¦wasn't quite sure, but what the hell he works here, we booked in and giving our all inclusive bracelets (tip put it on the first hole and you can remove it for bed and having a shower, as it can catch parts of your body.

You are also giving some round stickers with your room number on and all you do is place them on your luggage and the next time you see them is in your room.

The reception area is absolutely stunning with steps / lift going down a couple of floors to the bar area, this is all open and well kept., the lobby, main bar etc, may have been built as a holiday resort, but does not feel or look like it.

ROOM

We had initially requested a double bed, pool view etc etc we where in block 7 right near to the bottom pool area and the room was a twin and faced towards the side of the hotel I am so glad"¦the heat and sun and pool noise would have been to much"¦as it was the room was wonderful, cool and very very clean .in fact I would request a similar location on future trips.

Restaurants

The main buffet restaurant situated right next to the lobby / bar area is very spacious and bright, at lunch you just find your own table but on an evening you queue up and allocated a table.

The food catered for every nationality and whether you are a veggie or not you wouldn't starve, some examples are sizzling meats, grilled in front of you to salads, pasta to fish (included king prawns and octopus!). Meats include steak, pork, veal, sausage, goat and others; fish includes hake, octopus, prawns, cod etc. The choices of meals are changed each night too.

Included in your all inclusive is the opportunity to sample the 3 al a carte restaurants per week ie 1 week stay 3 visits..2 week stay 6 visits.

These are booked at guest relations (small office on ground floor, select opening hours with large queues) who give you a copy similar to a till receipt with your reservation time & date.

Portofina

Italian restaurant when you arrive you are shown your table and asked what you would like to drink, I opted for red wine and my other half asked for Carva 1 bottle each arrived. Starters are from a buffet type with a very good selection, main course & dessert are ordered from the menu. With your order receipt placed on the table, when we had finished the started the waiter asked if we would like a break prior to the main course .now that what I call service and looking after the customer.

Sea Food

Cant remember its name as I thought it was very poor (but that could be just as I pick the wrong meal)

Upon arrival we where met by a very harassed looking waiter who showed us to our table, it was 8pm and the restaurant was ¼ full (good job) it took 10 minutes for someone to arrive to ask what drinks we wanted starter arrived, then as they took the plates away the main course arrived, I had king prawns and they where that over cooked I was unable to remove them from the shells. Had I had to pay extra for this meal I would have refused and complained, but as it was included I thought what the hell just get on with it.

One waiter in particular was trying to have a heart attack, he was running back to the kitchen to get the next tables food and at one point he dropped 4 main courses (they need more staff, we counted 4)

Spannish

This restaurant and the sea food are situated side by side and open on alternative evenings, but with the same staff, again met by harassed waiter who was still intent on having a seizer with the running around.

Food here was very good, but again as soon as starter was removed the main course arrived, due to lack of staff and after waiting 20 minutes for our dessert we decided to go for a walk and left

Don't get me wrong this is how I found it and some might be great full for one meal after another but not me but a few more staff would have made it better.

For me the Portofina restaurant wins hand down"¦

You can eat in the sister hotel across the road but it will cost you 2 of your all a carte meals for 1 here, some people said the Mexican was worth it .

Bars

The main bar is situated on the ground floor in the main reception building.

The drinks menu is very wide, including all the local beer, spirits, mixers, cava, red, white and rose wine, also the various coffees, hot chocolates etc on offer, a number of alcohol and alcohol free cocktails are available.

To the sides of the main bar is a table with every bottle of spirit that is included in all inclusive including mixers, ice and chilled bottles of cava, these are regularly topped up and remain in place well after the close of the bar.

To the centre of the room is a table with 6-8 bottles of cava in a huge ice bucket again its just help your self .

The bar area next to each of the pool areas are again a help your self, from draught beer, sangria, red & white wine, soft drinks, water and slush type drinks, tea & coffee facilities.

For an all inclusive you can not go wrong with this hotel, and it is nice to be treated as an adult with regards to alcohol and serving yourself, only saw 1 idiot who made you feel ashamed to be English (just happened that England lost in a world cup game).

A good tip try ordering your drinks in Spanish, they will remember you if you have to queue up & and its good manners end of the day we are a guest in their country

Pools

Well maintained and cleaned well before you get up (well almost) it states that no sun beds are to reserved prior to 8:30am"¦well you guest it, a lot of them are taking by 7:30 and towels wrapped around sun brolly's to stop people taking them. And then you don't see them for a couple of hrs . Must admit that after a couple of days I would go down at 8am and reserve our 2 lounge's"¦ but at least I sat on them reading my book 1 English family reserved 4 lounges with 2 brolly's and left"¦
they returned 6 hrs later after a trip out.

Entertainment

Only saw the group in the main bar as we just wanted to chill out, but they had snake shows, acrobats, and a large family type show (these are in the square out side of reception and in between the 2 hotels.

Location

In previous trip reports people make a big thing on the location of the hotel, yes it is in the middle of nowhere, but they don't hide this fact and for all the amenities they have why bother to go out. Trips can be pre booked at guest relations and the hotel even has a free bus into player de Americas twice daily.

There are a couple of negatives that I found with this hotel, but hey that is just me, others might find more and some non at all"¦ Highly recommended

If you want a clean well kept hotel, which has everything you would need for an all inclusive holiday, friendly and polite & helpful staff you won't be disappointed with this hotel.

In fact we are looking to book for October and February"¦

Cheers
