The beach can be a bit gravelly at the waters edge, but the bay is absolutely lovely, quite popular with windsurfers a lot further out, and you can walk in the water for quite a way out as well.

Tried Gumbet earlier this year, and all the time I was wanting to be back in Bitez. Gumbet is a busier and hillier resort. It really depends on what you want for your holiday.
You could always visit Gumbet from Bitez.
