last time i was in Turkey (about 9 years ago) everytime we orderd a meal we got free bread and it was lovely, some places gave us french bread sort of stuff and the other bread was like a long hollow dome? does this still happen? and does anyone know wgat sort of bread i'm talking about? sorry for the poor description!
cheers KK
i love the turkish bread and yes a lot of restaurants still provide you with free bread, i love lavash no sure how you spell it its hot turkish bread that looks a bit like nan bread , yummy !!!
We had lots of bread before our meal. We still talk about it now and it is over 2 years since we went. I wish I could find bread like that here!
There are all sorts of wonderful Turkish breads! Try as many as you can while you are here. Pide bread is very good - like a nann bread.
This is probably the type of bread you got in the restaurants. It's so yummy, I practically live on it when I am in Turkey.
All Turkish bread is fresh though. They believe that bread should only be eaten fresh and so you don't get the moldy old stuff thats been lying around for days or shoved in a freezer.
turkish bread is delicious, its because they probably have no additives in their ingredients.
lavash thats the bread i'm on about the opne they seve with the garlic butter, i remember eatin most ov the bread and leaving half my meal lol
Would that be the puffy bread that I hear so much talk about?
George
Yep lavash is the puffy bread. Tradtionally it is cooled and eaten more like a craker bread, but I prefer it hot with garlic butter..............you could live on it out there!!!
puffy bread and garlic butter can't wait
My teens ate so much of that bread they could not eat their meals
What have I started I am sire my lot will love it!
Last Year whilst in Icmeler we got taken to this wonderful place called Cinar. We were served this bread, which was about 15" in diameter and about 1" thick, We had it straight from the oven it was really nice bread. I do not know what it was called but I shall definitely be trying it again this year.

In most places we went to in Marmaris we were given this bread before our meal
Have you been told to stay off the bread, or do you mean definitely
Sorry to be so pedantic.
Edit removed large font and colour Briar
hope you don't look at my spelling!
My sincere apologies Parky45, I will try not to be so indolent the next time?
It must be the Bread
we went self catering and every morning I got up dead early and wandered down to the local bakery and got 2 warm loaves, everyday for the fortnight, hubby, me and 3 kids chomped our way through it, with just butter, jam, marmalade, cheese, ham, what ever took out fancy, mmmmmmmmm lovely
