Hi.
I am travelling to this complex 5th July and looking forward to it. The latest view seems good and I think a holiday is what you make it. I went to the infamous Pegasus holiday village in July last year and before I went I was really worried as all the bad reviews but It was really good. The only thing that spolit it was the English people shouting and swearing at the waiters and barman.
I think that if you want 4 star treatment then you have to pay a lot more. I booked last year and the price I paid was good.
I will leave a report when I am home again.

Hi katrobrich,

Are you there for 2 weeks? If so your there at the same time as us (from the 12th).

3 good reports have been put recently on so that encouraging.

Like you say sometime your better ignoring the reviews and just making your own mind up.

Mick.

I have read with interest over recent weeks the reports for caleta dorada - basically my question to those that have been is :-

is it safe for me to travel solo with my young son (age 6) to this establishment ? - it is all booked for 12/7 for x1 week but will we be safe - I can tolerate most things, and have a positive outlook but what I won't be able to do is fight off intruders myself (just being realistic!) - my son is so excited and I try to be as positive in return but there is an underlying nag at the back of my mind re security

also

bearing in mind the above what is a safe part of the complex where should I try to stay i.e which block should I ask for ?

Any help / ideas or feedback would be very welcome. THANKS

Better if you were in A or B complex.......purely because C where we were seems to be very open. One positive thing we found was that we met alot of friendly people and you'll find that you and your little one will make many friends. Ive got a map of the complex if you want to see it before you go... send me ur email address by pm and I'll forward it on to you.

Hi 5time.
Yes, we are there for 2 weeks. I am happy to read the latest report. I am going to stop worrying and look foward to a good time. All my husband wants is a cold beer and peace and quiet from the kids for a little while and of course to watch England in the final. I will be taking a can of extra strong pest spray , because being a mere woman, I dont like any bugs.

I do not think that most people would be put off just by bad reports. :)

If you think of the number of guests that are there at any one time & compare that as a % of unhappy guests its not going to be that high!!!

Remember that if you have a bad experience it spreads like wildfire where as the good experiences are "just what is expected"

I too am on the big countdown - & looking forward to guessing the other messengers!! Think that most of you will spot Pete first though - he will be the one at the bar - all day :D

I have just returned from this hotel. I also was very nervous about my holiday after reading some of the reports. We survived!! We also had a very nice time apart from the cloudy weather.

We did not hear of any breakins while we were there but took sensible precautions just in case. We kept the curtains closed and a light on when we were out. I also carried all of our valuables around as the safe wasn't fixed down. Our apartment was on A side and was very clean and spacious.

Children have a wonderful time here, my son wants to go back as he hasn't done everything yet.

There were quite a few single parent families and everyone is very friendly - don't worry enjoy!!

Hi Tictac,

Thanks for posting .

Glad to hear you had a good time.

What age are your kids?

Any tips on places to go or did you mainly stay at the apartments.

Cheers.

Mick (13 days until we go)

At last some people that have enjoyed their holiday!!!!!!

A bit worried that the safe was not fastened down :? Is this something that happens a lot?

We always use the safe in the rooms & have never had a problem - in Gran Canaria last year they were that Digital type - went with in-laws who had a bad experience in Gran canaria a few years ago where they were broke into on 1st day & took everything - so always careful - did not stop them going back to the island every year!!!

Well 4 weeks & 5 days (ish) left - even less if I only count working days!!!

Glad to see some more positive reviews/feedback - less then 2 weeks until we go, I am taking as little as possible with me of any value - if the worst comes to the worst everything is insured and my cards are covered for any fraud so "hey ho" let's start looking forward to a lovely break where my son will make new friends and have a wonderful time and I (possibly!) can have a little rest in some warm sunshine.

going to this accomodation in 5 weeks. Have been very concerned about the number of break-ins. Wrote to First Choice to see if they are aware of the situation at the complex. Somebody from head office replied to my letter saying with regards to club caleta dorada they had not long returned from this hotel and there was no issue with break-ins.They also said that from time to time some holiday hotels do get broken in to and when this happens security is stepped up to prevent further break in.s. They also said that the security at the club claeta dorada is 24 hours and they have only been advised of a few issues in the last few years.

Who are they trying to kid. Anyway all you can do is be extra careful and take nothing with you of value.

Hi

I think everyone is concerned abot security wherever you go - I always think of it as would I do that if I was at home - you see large windows left open - bags unattended.

I think that we all need to look forward to a relaxing holiday rather than get worked up - afterall if 1 person mentions a breakin to 10 people does that spread a 10 different breakins as everyone tells eveyone else..... & so it goes on....

By the way if Madasafishy is reading this its now 4 weeks & 3 days!!!!!!
