Hi mazza ... I appreciate how stressed you must be at the moment, but can I ask please that you avoid use of phone text style abbreviations (such as wk, ppl, nxt) as these cause problems for our visually impaired members who rely on screen readers to follow discussion.

don;t get me wrong on the Calypso the noise was not that bad.its so far way from the new block they are doing.not right nextdoor ok.put it this way i would not of booked twice this year if it was going to make me get no sleep.
but work started at about 7am till 7pm,by now it should be light work anyway.thing is in ibiza this year,work can only be done inside not out.from may till oct.but ben is open all year round.thing is more hotels aptts have to be built for demand.

djwoody, thanks for putting my mind at rest, the hotel sounds great. I will let you all know what I thought about it when I come back. Cant wait only just over 2 weeks now to go

Surprise Surprise, Going Places phoned me today to ask if I wanted to change hotels because of the building work. I have told them no way I still want to go to the Calypso. I was suppose to collect the tickets at the begining of the week but they (going places) kept putting me off saying they were trying to chase up my tickets. They have now imformed me that they will tell the TO that I still want to go ahead with my holiday-I smell a rat (think they are over booked)

So from the 13th July when they had no complaints, all of a sudden a week before departure they ask you if you want to change hotels because of the building works.?

I hope you asked them why they have failed in their duty to inform you ealier of the building works and why have they left it a week before departure, when most hotels are fully booked for the peak season.
I should tell them that at this late stage you are staying in the Calypso, but you will be making a formal complaint and seeking compensation if the said building works mar your holiday in any shape or form.

Up date - Going Places have been on the phone 4 times since first call.
st call- building work
2nd call - plane cancelled ( I checked with Monarch and my flight has not been cancelled it is still flying out)
3rd call - could fly me from Edinburgh
4th call - from another employee telling me that the employee I am dealing with is trying to get something sorted.
I am sitting here raging and adamant that I want to fly from Glasgow and I only want the Calypso hotel. When I asked what would happen if I couldnt get what I wanted they couldnt give me an answer except for- we will cross that bridge when it happens.
I am totally stressed out over this, and now worried that we wont have a holiday now.

My friend who booked with my travel is in calypso now she was the one i wrote about just last week .She called me tonight and said everything was fine and shes not heard much banging but she had held on phone for 57 minutes no one took her call she just gave up never botherd to get through.Her hubby called the hotel they said everything was ok they still had there booking so they left on tuesday and everything is fine hope all goes well mazza ...ps i know what your going through as they called me at 4.45 on friday i fly out this sat i did change hotels to the ambassador after i read the reviews on other sites about the rosaire it was bad .. GOODLUCK

Either that or they cancel my holiday with airtours and book me with Thomson (half board instead of full board) and I pay an extra £83.00 for the privilege. All this because I am wanting to stick to my original hotel The Calypso. Has anyone got any advice for me, I am really stressed out and wont be using Going Places again.

Hi bonnielass ... as there are now various other issues not specifically related to the Calypso Hotel, it may be best if you post a summary of your situation in the Holiday Complaints forum, where you may be able to obtain appropriate advice on your rights and on the travel agent or tour operator's obligations to you.

Just got back on Tuesday from the Calypso Hotel it was brilliant, the hotel is spotless and the staff were all really nice. The entertainment is for the older generation but other than that it was great. The food is lovely and plentiful. There waa lots of children staying when we went but in the afternoon the staff played water games with them, so the hotel caters or everyone. The building work noise was non existant. The hotel has irons and hairdryers that you can get from reception.

Hi Dj woody I understand that the pool area is getting a revamp so that people with disabilities will find it easier to get into the pool. I am thinking of booking again for next year. I was really impressed with the security there was a security guard on duty every night. I never saw a guard at any of the other hotels at night. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.
its more than the pool.theydid work while open round the pool last year.unless they have to close it all.does not take 4 months to do a job like that.mine you its spain..yes security guard is good.should have been one on in day as well.

I disagree, I'd rather be stopped by them anyday than pushy timeshare people. They are only trying to earn an honest living and if you politely tell them that you aren't interested then they're fine about it. It's the beggars that annoy me so much,
especially when they have babies with them. Sue

Actually of all the times ive been to Beni, i've NEVER been stopped by anyone pushing the free trips.....must be something about my face!!!
