Justs back from booking holiday 2010 to cuba. :sun2 :hols

We've chosen Guardalavaca in April, I know it's like 'closing the gate after the horse has bolted,' but what weather can we expect? :que

We're having such a stinking summer here :cry I just had to have something to look forward to, fingers crossed

Thanks

gussiebaby,

The nearest weather station is Holguin which is not far from Guardalavaca hereis the monthly history for this April you can go back over the years for the same month.

Hi gObby-1

We're going to the Sun Rio De Luna Mares or SRDL for short, looking forward to it big time!

can anyone tell me if it is better weather wise to go September or October to varadero cuba thanks Linda

lindajoanne2003,

welcome onboard :tup
It makes little difference really. Average temperatures for September are 29C (high) and 21C (low) with October 28 / 21. Average rainfall is zero! Bear in mind both months can be unsettled and are within the hurricane season window.

According to Wunderground it hasn't rained in Cuba for more than 12 months! I don't think so! In September/October on the north coast of Cuba you can expect unsettled weather because both months are still within the hurricane/tropical storm season. You'd be unlucky to get prolonged rain over a period of days but you can expect short but heavy showers towards the late afternoon/early evening on at least a few days within any 14 day period. I think that you'd be extremely lucky to go for 14 days during those months and completely escape the rain.

Hi, can anyone give me an idea please of what the temperatures are like in the evening; not sure what to pack to wear!

We're off a week tomorrow and can't wait!

Took me a while to realise that you were going to Varadero! On a very generalised thread like this it's helpful to include your destination in the body of your post rather than changing the subject line.

As for your query, expect it to be very warm/hot and humid in Varadero at this time of year. You're still well within the tropical storm/hurricane season so be prepared for sudden sharp, short showers which are most likely to occur in the early evening.

And beware of the mozzies after dark! You won't need to cover up because of the temperature but if susceptible to bites you might want to consider something light to cover up with if you're going to be out of doors after dark

I am looking at a holiday in the Dominican Republic next year and am looking at either September or November.

Which month would anyone recommend, I am looking at Bavaro.

It seems that on some websites September has rain and thunderstorms everyday ??

Can anyone help ?

Thanks

Jules,

The Bavaro/Punta Cana area so far this September has had no rain, they had a slight shower of 15 minutes two nights ago, as I know someone that lives there, they are actually crying out for some rain all be it in the evenings as their garden is bone dry.
