A little quiet??don't think so..what are you looking for?

Nothing quiet about Cyprus Living, it's a great site packed with information
coral bay is lovely, its also got the best beach in paphos watersports too.
I know cyprus isnt quiet!!!
I think we were spoilt by going to the Amalthia, well we definately were after looking at he pafian sun just along the road!!!! We even met a lady while looking round there, and she was in tears because of her experience, it just reminded me of butlins abroad!!!!
Cyprus is beautifull and after the amalthia experience I dont want anything to spoil what we had, so that is why I am really fussy about where we go.
Perfection for me is:
Hotel that overlooks the beach
Good standard of food, and smart dress for dinner
10 mins max walk to bars and restaurants so we can have a wander after dinner
quiet at bedtime!!!!
I am also looking at villas, but again with 10 mins either way to beach and restaurants & bars.
I dont want to go on holiday and see a McDonalds, Pizza Hut, or every where advertising 'english' breakfasts!!! Although I did see some on the front line in Paphos there was no way I was going to eat there!!!
I say again CL web site quiet??? we had 1800 hits on Monday quiet?
Hi dbbg,
Coral Bay has a "Tourist Strip" with the following.....(That i can remember)
Main Restaurants:
El Faro's & Coral King and one beginning with "S" further up the road sorry think it was Sienna or something like that?
We ate in El Faros most of the time the staff are lovely and friendly we spent hours in there some nights, even after we had eaten lol
Bars:
Plenty!!
Most spill out onto the pavements so you can sit outside enjoying a nice drink watching everyone go by, there is one we didnt go to called "Saddlers Bar" it's right on the corner bend.
Clubs:
I think there are 2 main discos,
It seemed to me one was for the kids/teens one for the older age range.
The kids one was a bit annoying as our villa backed right onto it and heard the "thump thump thump" well into 5am most mornings
The other club shuts around 2/3 i think, they do most stuff in there like Karaoke, sky sports, Elvis (grrrrr) and your usual disco.
This one is next door to the Chinese restaurant "upstairs" as you look at it.
Prices:
Quite expensive, we used the Angelina supermarket there and walked around with our gobs hanging open at some of the prices for things like Evian and other english brands - stick to their brands and you're laughing
Beach:
Entrance to the beach is literally a "2 minute" walk from the strip, walk past saddlers "on your left" and you walk down a small hill lined with trees the beach entrance is sign posted and is on your left.
The beach does have a cafe/bar hut thingy but you will have to walk right to the other end of the beach from this end
Hope this helps x
You picked the most expensive mini market to shop in...you should have drove down the mile or two to Lemba and Papantoniou's Supermarket, prices on par or just above the UK's but not the same selection of course, this is Cyprus, and you do get to buy whatever is in season as regarding local fruit and veg...always avoid the tourist areas for buying food!!! you wont see us or the Cypriots shopping there for main supplies..and you should see there villa up the road, it has four huge villas in the grounds of the main villa, worth millions..how you may ask?
but trouble was in August, we were so damn hot we felt completely lazy having the Angelinas on our doorstep "more or less" we kinda didn't care.
But we did go into the little "Peyia Village" one day to a bigger supermarket is it "Phillipos" or something like that and it was fantastic!! We didn't have a car so we got a taxi and it only took like 2 minutes to get there
The veg and fruit was wonderful and everything so cheap!! so that was good for a "big weekly shop"
Yes Phillipos was our local market before we moved away from Peyia last Christmas, it is a great shop that, and almost sell everything you need including materials for building a house....did you go upstairs?
"Quite typical power cuts"
someone told me about them before i left but i didn't believe them, and oddly enough it happened twice in El Faro's restaurant that week aswell whilst eating dinner
Quite funny though when it comes back on everyone cheers hehe
Power cuts were one of the reasons we moved away also fresh water cut's is a real problem in Peyia, due mainly to the over development of this district, a great shame as I still like the village, but I guess I was one of the reasons for it's problems..
If it was after one holiday i can understand i have only been the once in August with my mum and daughter, and if i won the lottery tommorrow i know where i would be living!!
I am going back in 3 weeks time for a week
But you can't blame yourself for things that will inevitably happen.
Yes Cyprus is a beautiful Island,
Yes there are many people that will want to up and move there
"me being one" -
but at the end of the day -
the more the utilities are needed ie: water/elec/ the more the Cyprus government will spend
But in the same context i hate the thought of Coral Bay being so built up it becomes "Southend" that would be awful!!
I have lived here for 4 years after retiring early (I thought) at 54 we do have relatives here my daughter who is married to a Cypriot, also we have two lovely grandkids.
We have been visiting prior to 2001 for fifteen years, always the Pafos area near Coral Bay (Lemba a refugee village Cypriots only) Lemba is very near Vardas beach and also Banana Bay Kissonegra, a kilometre from Coral Bay of course.
I hated Cyrus when we first arrived, it was dirty, rubbish strewn all over the place hot dry and as now very dusty, the drive from the shed that was Pafos international airport was not very inspiring, although as now once away from the tourist area Cyprus is lovely, and I could not imagine living back in the UK, and in fact I have never been back.
I do run with a mate Cyprusliving web site that is geared to ex-pats and movers out here, it gives all the info you would ever need to relocate to CY, it would be possible to move here with no information but you may find it saves you a lot of cash knowing how to do it correctly and just what you would need to do, I wished I had more of this when we moved, but we did use a web site for help, and I think this is a must.
Back to original question Coral Bay is fine for a holiday, in fact I have just sold for a friend a fantastic villa that is situated behind The Chinese restaurant, he cant stand the awful noise this area generates, as I say great for holidays stay well clear if you wish to live here...just my opinion but well founded..
Good luck with your dream..
p.s you do not have to be rich to live here, I worked most of my life on the factory floor in a foundry, I moved here on a very small works pension and enough in the kitty to buy a small house.
Do not make the fact you have to work till you drop to move here, this is just not true!!

Will bookmark your site for future reference
And i know what you mean about the "dust" i've never seen so many dirty cars
Can anybody recommend any good villas very close by- to beach and bars and restaurants
either 2 or 4 bed???
OR any good websites?????
We didn't care for the discos much either we spent most of our time around the pool with drink in one hand and fighting off the african bees with the other
We used James Villas http://www.jamesvillas.co.uk They are a very efficient company and own quite a few villas just behind the strip, and very close to the beach.
We had a 3 bedroom with Air Conditioning, large pool, and everything else you would expect to have...They can also provide a welcome pack for your arrival.
We didn't have a car, and were really pleased to find out we didn't need one either,
EVERYTHING you need is there in the strip for you, but if you want to go a bit more upbeat there is a bus stop right outside El Faros Restaurant that takes you into Paphos Town "20 mins drive"
and their buses are more like coaches much better than ours here
PS: Most of the villas on their site are in the
"Queens Paradise Devlopment"
and they say "5 minutes walk to the bars/restaurants"
but it took us 2 minutes
they really are literally "Right there" and are very popular!!
Try and get villa "Serena", it's right on the corner off of the strip looks a nice villa with pool, and there is villa "Sunsplash" further up the road, i Think that one is a bit bigger.
(PRIVATE SALE nothing to do with James villas, this is one they do not have on there books) ,
I do have contacts for the Villas with south facing pools in this street! well cul-de-sac!, he sold on because of the noise there, ok as I said for a holidays as you can walk to most of the amenities, but living permanently in this area is impossible unless you are hard of hearing, great for rentals though..

But yes it is a bit noisy at night as the teens disco kept me awake at least till5 most mornings
But Sun Splash is further up the road towards the sea, and the family we met there said they didn't hear anything at night,
But for November i have booked a villa through a relatively small company and this one is on the strip road but towards the beach end more - so hopefully i'll get more sleep this time
Who are the small company you have booked through, do they have a website????
