Don't go to the pharmacy at the hotel. He is Dick Turpin in disguise.
Definately use the one out the main gates and left onto the little stretch of shops.
The lady in the pharmacy is very helpful and friendly.

or like me change ur holiday for 90% of ppl 2 be ill says everything this aint just no ordinary holiday bug this is down 2 hygene in certain areas of the hotel
well it hasnt put me off we go in april nxt year, i dont know what has happend but so mmany reviews , and people i know who have been cant say enough about the cleanliness, and im sure it will be sorted out by then if there is a problem, does anyone know hte exact cause? these are the first bad reviews i have seen
you want bad reviews go on another website 90% are bad compared 2 this time last yr where most were 10/10 8/10 at lowest
well i dont care what anyone says, my relatives went and had a fab time, thats why we booked, and i cant wait!!!!!
so your relatives are a different breed are they there is a reason as too why people are very ill dont say you aint been warned meanwhile il be 100% fit and well now ive changed my holiday
i htink your getting a bit personal there and i dont appreciate it so back off, i dont give a damm if you dont go ive heard more good reports than bad and thats good enough for me, so instead of trying to spoil ohter peoples holidays keep your opinons about my family to your self if you dont mind, im going in april next year and cant wait, my relatives have been there twice before and as far as ive seen they havent got too heads or anything so i dont think there a different breed, perhapps they just know how to have a good time on holiday unlike SOME people!!!!!!!!!
i apologise im simply saying this time last yr the hotel was very highly rated now people cant get away quick enough i dont think its a case of not knowing how to enjoy thermselves its a case of being to ill to enjoy it
ok im sorry too! my relatives go in april as we are when it is not quite as hot as it can get, maybe the heat has something to do with it, i know we certainaly wouldnt be able to cope with high season temperatures, thats why we chose easter, just hot enough by all accounts, i still think we will go as i say family have really enjoyed it and unless first choice change us by so many bad reports that is the only way we wont go, any way fingers crossed and hope for the best, sorry again for any bad feelings, friends again?
I would definately rate this hotel a 11 out of 10, travelling to Africa/Asia what do we really expect.
The hotel is spotless, the cleaners work around the clock, the waiters and restaurant staff also work 18 hour days, 7 days a week for about 3 months before they get a week off to be with their families.
When we first visited Egypt in 2005 we certainly didn't expect the standard of hotel we got at the CSR, yes we had some teething problems as it was their first year, however we went back and have been each year since then.
I am 99.9% sure that the majority of the problems people experience when it comes to the 'squits' are due to the heat firstly and then overindulgence. Dehydration and extremeties of hot to cold are just too much for the body to adjust to in such a short space of time.
Most of us (myself and my family included) arrive and go just a little bit crazy, we just don't give ourselves time to adjust and believe me coming out of 20ish degrees into 50 degrees over the space of 5-6 hours takes some adjustment.
We are off for our 4th visit on the 14/08/08 when looking to book this year I didn't even consider another destination, we have been too many countries around the world before for our summer holidays but I really can honestly say that none of them compare with Egypt, the perfect summer holiday, fantastic weather, lovely friendly people, wonderful marine life and a perfect hotel to visit.
Undoubtedly people go with their expectations set so high that they can never be met, Egypt is not Spain or Turkey or even Cyprus, its better and I sure hope it never becomes like Spain, Turkey or Cyprus as this would most certainly spoil the magic it holds.
Please don't let a few bad reviews put you off or make you change your holiday because unless you want Spain, Turkey or Cyprus, Egypt is a most lovely place to visit just as long as you are sensible.
I would welcome any questions anyone has especially if they are unsure about going.
Thanks for reading this.
This was my second time back and once again I loved it...
We we in a group of 10, all but 5 were ill at somestage with stomach problems. Two where children, so were only on soft drinks, speaks for itself, and the other three my husband, daughter and myself were on these acidophilus tablets (good bacteria) you get in Holland and Barrett and take before you go away and while there. We had a few stomach cramps but that was all. Others were not too bad, only one had it for about a week, but found out he was cleaning he's teeth with tap water and fell asleep in the sun.
Agree place needs a lick of paint here and there and fixings if reported were done with in minutes. (our fridge door fell off and was sorted within 10 minutes) but this hotel never closes open 24/7 so must be hard to decorate. I thought the standard of cleaning though was excellent, staff work so hard.
Food was not so varied this year, but always found something nice to eat. As always the staff were excellent (can really comment about first choice staff as did not have anything to do with them) much easier to deal direct with hotel staff.
We were in room 1034 select room ground floor, right wing as close to the sea as possible, brilliant. Could not believe we got the room I asked for. We had two other select rooms really close 1032 and 1030.
We stayed around smaller pool, (not as noisy) Ahmed at the bar was great and very entertaining.
As were were leaving the towel on bed situation started. At the beginning of the holiday you could still get a bed around 9.00/10.00 but towards the end if you were not there by 8.00 you had it. On the last day the pool attendance were removing towels not occupied at 10.00.
We went on two trips (not booked though First Choice) and saved a lot of money. Luxor, valley of the kings and a speed boat trip around tiran island and snorkelling, both excellent.
Can only speak for myself but we love this hotel, and yes I would go back for a third time.
We have stayed at this hotel with no problems at all food was good i did have a upset tummy but not with fod or drink it was the sun
Just returned from CSR this morning. Please don't blame the hotel for the stomach upsets. I had it bad myself (still got it a bit now). My partner also suffered and he is usually very good abroad, where as I'm always bad. In fact at CSR I managed 10 good days before I went down with this and thats good going for me.
The hotel is very hygenic, well by that I mean the staff handling food etc.
Gripes would be no soap in the toilets or enough toilets rolls. Stay away from the sprinkers as they use toilet water to water the grass.
I tried every pill and potion before I went and during my visit and still ended up with the tummy cramps and uncontrollable runs. I also knew a lot of other people suffered the same as I did (some first week some second).
I did notice some food in the restaurant (Cold Selection) little delicate portions of sushi and fish cakes with prawns on. I steered well clear as I thought it was not a good idea that this sort of food should be on a buffet in room temperature.
The hotel really is lovely, I can't fault it. So please don't rush into canceling or panicking about your holiday here. Infact yes there was one thing to complain about that really does ruin this hotel and as bad as my upset stomach, and that's the entertainment!
Oh yes my friend was in 2011 and she said her bath was gurgling and she had to put the plug in it and that there was always a musky smell in the room. Must be a problem on that block as this room was very close to Tiptons.
purrfect1968 I can't agree more Egypt is the new Cyprus, Spain and Greece only better and your money goes a lot further, and that is based on my first visit
just got back from the csr this morning no bad stomach the only commet was the food ,so after 4 night we eat out in nabbey bay and the chinise at the top of the drive of the csr
weve booked CSR for two weeks 23 july 09 from birmingham two adults two children.
Have to admit all this tummy upset talk is worrying me a little, didnt see or hear any of it in turkey with temps around 50 degrees there too.
Anyway the place looks great so cant wait already........any info would be great
One question i would like to ask regarding the beach is, Is it safe for kids? Is it sandy in the shallows?? or Is there corral imediatley or a bit further out??? sorry thats 3 questions. The picture in the brochure looks like theres a reef about 500 metres out, Or am i imagining this.
thanks chris
The sea is very shallow for quite a way out, I would always recomend wearing sea shoes whenever in the sea (especially the children), you can purchase these from either one of the hotel shops for about £3-5 a pair or from the parade of shops just outside (probably cheaper). We bought ours from the hotel shop 4 years ago and will be taking them back again this year.
Hope you have a great holiday.
I had several lumps come up within the first week. I still have quite a swollen boil looking bit on my arm now from almost over a week ago. Though I never saw any mossies.
Anyone know if windsurfing is available from the beach at coral sea???
we are going to csr in april, can anyone tell me what the snorkelling is like from the beach? Is it straight in from the beach or a jetty?
