Just spoke to a friend in Fethiye,no problem at all in spending
your euros.
Also they take em in airport duty free no problem.
----------------------------------------------------------
When we were in Tunisia this year the duty free prices were in
euros, then you had bar-code machines that told you the prices
in £ sterling / US $ / etc.
thats for the info saves me messing about at this end changing them
hiya
Had Local Turkish paper on line, showing 2.84T/L,not sure
most shops stıll gıvıng 2.74 x
I just bought £200 worth of Lira on Saturday from Thomson in the shop, total amount in Lira was 540 which translates to 2.7 so I'm happy Just another £200 to get then the rest (£400) in sterling.
Here today.
Saga / M & S / No.1 currency -------- 2.781T/L on line
TravelFX --------------------2.80T/L on line
Currency Club---------------------------------2.753T/L on line
Keep going up,makes the holiday cheaper.
Ace FX are currently 2.818, this just might hit 3.0 before the month is out.
M & S are showing 2.823... I'm going to nip and get some seeing as I have a day off...!!!
Hit 2.92T/L yesterday in Turkey
It peaked at 3.10638 back in June 2006, since then this is the highest it's ever been. I'm not sure why it's doing so well at the moment but as long as I get a cheaper holiday I don't really care lol.
Unless the Euro does any better in the future I doubt I'll be going to Europe any time soon so it's Turkey all the way lol.
Only 25 sleeps til Turkey
[edit] Will they be putting their prices up? I guess the holiday resorts may well do but luckily for me I'm going to a mainly Turkish resort so I hope the Efes prices stay the same lol
Yeah, I will get about £100 here and get rest there in 9 day's... But am tempted to buy more, but the I guess I will get more there... oh dilemma!!!
Re prices being put up, I will just do the same as always and go the the places off the main tourist trap, but also enjoy a few efes wherever my feet take me...
Oh the excitement.
ruth24s wrote:Interesting that Sunseeker. I have been following the news there and things are not great for their economy really, I guess this will have some bearing on it. I am no expert but wonder is it a case of pound getting stronger also or is it still weak, or is the lira just on it's knees... Wish I had a handle on these things...!!!

Not to put a downer on things but it looks to be dropping already, bank rate is now 2.876, if I were you I'd 'bite the bullet' and get them now over here - but don't blame me if they sky-rocket lol
Hope you have a fantastic time, I'm sure you will
If you're half as excited as me you'll be jumping up and down with anticipation - have a gud 'un and have an Efes on me lol

I'll probably get another £350 worth before I go but will also take around £400 in Sterling so I can barter at the markets lol
I'm quite happy with 2.7 and prefer to get it from a shop as I don't really trust a lot of the on-line companies. I wouldn't be able to relax until the money was in my hand and for the sake of a few lira will just use shops for now.
& delivered by Royal Mail.
Money delivered on the day I ordered it for.
Good service by the Royal Mail.
[edit] the power of google says it is pronounced "koo-roosh", is this correct?
Just a few more, is Karaincir pronounced Car-an-jer?
And I'm guessing that Akyarlar is Ak-Yar-Lar (pretty much how it is spelt)
And Turgetries - I'm guessing Tur-Ge-Trees.
could do to know how our holiday destination is pronounced lol.
