It's interesting to see those articles about M*M, but also a little disheartening. It's easy to see why they want to avoid litigation - it only needs one person to get an award of £990 (the £1000 DE/R*** valuation of the vouchers, and their claim of cruise/voucher equivalance, less the £10 that would have been paid), plus costs, for them to have to pay everyone the same amount.
But who gains if R*** go bust? We'd have nothing, the staff would be out of jobs, the shareholders would lose their stake - and the directors would buy the company shell, less liabilities, for peanuts, or else set up a completely new company with a similar name.
Strictly speaking, the T&C said all cruises would be supplied by the end of may (this year!), with an extension allowed in case of minor problems. However, I'm willing to wait till July/September to see if I get offered a real cruise....if not, I have legal insurance along with my home insurance, and this covers consumer problems.
It would be interesting if someone eventually wrote a book about this affair ... I'd love to know what's happening from the R*** point of view!
However, since, despite three requests, I'm still waiting for them to tell me
whether I'm still going on the Louis Line cruise on 23rd April, which I was allocated in October 04, this may be unli9kely.

Hi Alii.
Have a wonderful holiday Alii, we'll all be thinking of you and if you'd prefer not to be righteous be riotous instead
Just one more thing...i'm still packing and don't know whether to take a hairdryer. Do the staterooms have them?
Cheers
Ali
I would check the brochure as regards the hairdryer. Most ships have them in the staterooms, but some don't so best to check.
Hope you have an absolutely brilliant cruise and looking forward to hearing all about it when you get back!!

They stated they are getting around to contacting everyone and allocating the cruises which were promised. They were very helpful and gave me five options to choose from. To which I am pleasantly surprise and grateful, must admit there were times that I did not think i would get my cruise, think I paniced a bit when my cruise was cancelled.
Hopefully, anyone still waiting for a response will be contacted shortly with the same information and choice.
best wishes

Thats great news and we will look forward to yout posting in the confirmed cruises thread!
I received my confirmation today outlining ports of call and flight times etc. Even dining times and how many will sit together. Definitely getting excited now, dont think anything can happen now as it seems like it is all arranged. I'll have to start getting cruisey clothes. JNazer by the sounds of it you got the same phone call as me. I chose to share with someone also, only because I wanted to make sure I got a cruise this year and not next and thankfully everything is coming together nicely. I go on the 18th June from Stanstead to Genoa. What option did you choose.
Oh Magsy
hi, just got off the phone to rise and after months of ongoing emails, calls etc Rocky at rise booked me on The Sinfonia on 12 june 2005. Just have to wait for confirmation papers now(2-3 weeks). chuffed to bits! never been on a cruise before. I also managed to hold out for the £10 option after being told that i would have to pay for upgrade.
Are you sharing a cabin?
On the cruise index page you will find a topic called MSC Sinfonia March13. Raymond8 and Glen33 have written review items on this ship. Sounds excellent!
as you I took the share a cabin with another and still receive for ten pounds, as the saying goes ' a bird in the hand' . Must say I am as excited as you sound, I really can't wait to get away and get some sunshine. As soon as I know where and when I am going I will let you all know. Thank goodness my manager is very good and will allow me time off work at very short notice so there will not be a problem about the allocation.
After an initial slow reponse from MKM/Rise, they certainly appear to be working overtime at the moment!!
Best wishes

Watchdog will be featuring our favourite subject tonight at 7 o'clock.

Three people have cruised, do they mean William, Colin and Chris I wonder?
That surely can't mean that only HT members have cruises could it?
Surely not because they said 800 cruises have been booked and there are only 144 confirmed cruises reported here.
They've certainly had a busy day!! Nice to see they have added another ship. 3 out of 40,000 isn't very good, considering we should all have had our cruises by May 05, and 800 out of 40,000, will they ever be able to book everyone like they are still promising, or bring this sorry mess to a happy conclusion?
Well good to see that Watchdog has given the Express Cruise fiasco yet another airing. I wondered how many of the 'Thames Cruisers' were HT contributers.
That should lead to another little group being booked, as per original conditions, if they are as lucky as I was.
We are so lucky with this site, as the things that Watchdog were quoting , we had already been able to read by links posted on here by our clever contributors, who always seem to know where to find these interesting snippets.
Good luck to all those still waiting.

If and when I get re-allocated and confirmed with a £10 cruise I will only beleive it when I am onboard and have set sail into the sunset. Meanwhile its back to dreaming of my cruise in the sun. Somehow I think this is as close as I will ever get!

I didn't see Watchdog but if only 800 cruises have been booked this year, i.e. one fifth, and very few seem available for 2005 now, then does that mean some people are going to have to wait till year 2009? Will MSC or any cruise line want to take this on year in year out? If cruises are being promised for next year, that means 30000 allocations and even if a whole fleet of cruise ships was taken over, this number could not be accommodated in 2006. Presumably MSC have a limit as to the number of places which they wish to make available for the offer or they risk losing their core clientele. Someone, somewhere must have made a decision on the outcome of this fiasco, but how long is it going to be before it's made public?
