So glad you enjoyed your cruise Rene - mine is just a happy memory now as it was last July on the Melody.
Hang on in there those of you still waiting. Just remember the old motto "Nil illigitum carborundum" (Don't let the b******s grind you down")
Like Rene I am only back a few days from my Cruise on the Island Star and the Riverias. As stated the wether was great and I really enjoyed it. There was a slight engine problem with the ship that caused it to divert to Mahon instead of Sete but I did not mind this at all.
I also met another DE cruiser and we both had cabins on Gloden Deck. I have a feeling that there were maybe a few more who did not say that they were on the DE offer.
Kilkeel7
So another (finally) satisfied cruiser. Everyone who gets a cruise gives hope and inspiration to those still waiting so thank you for posting Kilkeel7. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I also wonder if there are perhaps quite a few others out there who are not members of HT and choose not to identify themselves on board.
Just received letter from DE saying that they are unable to validate my claim for a cruise against information supplied to them by previous travel company, and will not enter into any further correspondence.
I will not be letting this go and will now instigate legal action.
Has anyone still got a copy of the T&C that they can let me have a copy of?
Regards PIB
I to have recieved my reply from the DE stating that they are unable to validate my claim. I to shall be instigating a legal claim. Has anyone got any advise to give, I have kept all my corresponence and notes of phone calls. Do you think it would be worth trying to talk to someone at the DE again before instigating claim, the letter says they wont enter into any more correspondence re my claim.
I would defintely consider legal action and there is advice on how to go about it earlier in this topic just a few pages back.

Hi Luci
How outrageously highhanded of them to simply deny your application without giving any kind of explanation, especially since more than two years have passed since the original cruises should have taken place (breach of contract?). I am no legal whizz kid but it seems to me that they haven't a leg to stand on since the majority of people have kept every scrap of paper relating to this offer, including postal registration documentation.
Please, don't any of you give up, ESPECIALLY those of you who have now been denied!
I contacted Working Lunch and Watchdog, re the ongoing saga with DE and their letter to me stating they couldn't validate my claim. Working Lunch have just phoned me to say they would like to feature my story on the programme. Watch this space, hopefully they may be able to get some answers as to what criteria I and others have failed to fulfill.
I returned from my Colourful Coasts cruise to the Canaries on Saturday, and had a great week on the Thomson Destiny. This was my first ever cruise, and would admit that had it not been for the DE offer, it is probably something I would never have done.
I was travelling alone and flew from Glasgow to Tenerife late on Friday 13th. I got onboard and after dropping my luggage off, immediately went up to deck 9 to experience the Midnight Buffet.
On my dressing table there was a letter which basically invited me to attend a coffee morning on Saturday to meet the other people travelling alone. I there met Valerie, Carol , Phil and Gitta who were also there via the DE offer. This was a great relief to me and we all had a great week spending the evenings together dining in the Seven seas restaurant and then enjoying the entertainment.
Have to give a quick mention to the waiters who were fantastic (especially Usama) and the girls who cleaned the cabins. Also Sue and her entertainment team who kept us laughing all week.
Only minor negative points were Agadir, no Sky Sports and difficulty of finding newspapers.
Delighted to hear you had a great cruise Thommo. We have done the Colourful Coasts twice and find it a nice, relaxing cruise which gives you ample time to enjoy all the ship's facilities.

Well folks I have decided to make a move. I have written my letter and will post it today. Lets see what reply comes along. I'll keep you posted.
Well, i wrote last week and enclosed all correspondance i had , i also said i was watching this forum carefully and that i had been in touch with watchdog. Reply, can you believe in under a week .It basically says that yes my claim has been validated and i will be sent a letter .... within the next few months. The next line then says"unfortunatly i cannot be more precise at this stage as to how or when we will next be in touch or confirm what offer we may make you in settlement of this claim" i will wait and see a while
I went to the BBC studio this morning to film my interview for Working Lunch, and their camera was broken, so the date has got to be re arranged. The lady is phoning tommorrow.
I feel like I have had an operation postponed, and I had my roots done.
Aw that's a pity. Let us know when it's rescheduled.
What a shame Raych but never mind, better luck when you go back!
Dear Dear Raych
What a real let down for you, but dont give up. After all this time and money besides blood presure tablets, whats a broken camera ! Now I could understand it if the Coven were being interviewed, but your lovely self sure tis just bad luck.
Just think 1 year ago the 'express cruisers' had had their week on the Melody and we were just a full of the joys (or was it Joan) of spring - well near winter. (no line dancing PLEASE !!!)
Why has no-one posted any more photos after ours ? We know the answer, you are no compition to us - we rearly knocked out the crew with our cancan and samba dance and the crew have never recovered from the amorous Viv and I understand that the Captain made a stipulation that the D.E. were barred after his dance with Joan or was in Jean (see Photos for clarifaction).
Keep up the sprits and down with the 'ding dong' I'm nolonger hobling along on a stick and have just got back from 22 days in Portugal.
What has a Danish lady, a tour of the Port Houses in Porto and an early morning flight to Rotterdam have in common ?
Bye for now
legless but not Donefor
Long time no see Donefor! You haven't changed in your absence but pray do tell "What do a Danish lady, a tour of the Port Houses in Porto and an early morning flight to Rotterdam have in common ? "
You would never believe it if I was allowed to tell it on the open site like this
I may put it in a short story, I'm on a crative writing course at present - No one could create a saga like this one we are in the middle of and make it believable.
I could have done with a zimmer after visiting the port houses
How do I put a report on about a Hotel not already reported on, perhaps Luci will help out ?
As always your obdiant
