Well, it's finally happened at long last. Out of the blue I received a letter yesterday from the DE offering a choice of five itineraries with various dates on Island Cruises. I immediately settled for the Island Star on 13th October leaving from Palma going to Corsica, Minorca, Italy and France. Unfortunately there were no flights available from Glasgow so I've decided to go from Manchester. The cost to me is £45 fuel supplement and optional in-flight meals £12. The original £10 has been waived. I've decided to take my wife as well and the cost is the £57 above plus a cruise price of £350. I'm really looking forward to this now. All I have to do is think of which optional tours I want to go on.
Is anyone else going on this date? Anyone already been on this cruise?
Hi Everyone I am proud to announce I have just accepted a cruise on the Island Star on 29th Sept I have paid £45 fuel surcharge and £12 inflight meal I am still in shock that i am actually going at last Yippee
Congratulations to you both. I have started Roll Call topics for both your cruises in case there is anyone else going on the same dates.
I have booked my cruise.
I am sailing on the Island Star on 3rd Nov and taking my husband with me even though he said it would never happen
After waiting all this time I now have a two week cruise to look forward to. Just hope the weather is still reasonable in Nov.
Never give up hope!!!!
Maureen, how come a 2 week cruise? Have you been a particuarly good girl?
I have started roll call topics for you both, but you may not get much response as the forums are quite quiet at the moment.

Ah yes, thanks. I went off & found the one you had created for the Island Star cruise I am on on 08th to 15th September. Unfortunately I'm the only poster there so I'll be cruising alone at this rate. Poor me
I was offered about ten different dates on Island Star or Escape. Because of work I couldn't choose some of them. The offer said I could have two weeks if I paid extra and as the ports included Dubrovnik I jumped at it.
My letter also said that the paper were trying to catch up with the backlog and having been sucessful after all this time I believe we will all get a cruise in the end.
I think I must be about the last of the original posters on this thread to finally hear, so the list must be getting shorter.
P.S. What happened to Balcony Phil?
Woweee Maureen, at last!!!!! Brilliant news Maureen and you are quite right to extend it too!!!!!! Enjoy!!!!!!!
congratulations on getting your cruises booked, I'm sure it feels a great relief to finally be able to look forward to your cruise and plan your trips. Make the most of it I'm sure there won't ever be another promotion like this one!!
Well done all of you who have now booked your cruises. Hope you enjoy as much as we did back in May on Island Star.To those of you who hae never cruised before.. im sure you will be hooked on cruising when you get back... enjoy all of you its been a long struggle eh?
Wonderful news that more cruises are now coming through. Those who have gone before salute you. It really does look as if the DE have now realised they hadn't a leg to stand on and have started to pull their finger out at long last. Everyone still waiting should hopefully hear soon and, believe me, it will be well worthwhile as you will have a fabulous time.
Not been on site for a while so i got a bit of a suprise to see that people are still getting the DE cruise. Its really great

Hi Raych good to see you are still posting
I've trawled through some of the previous pages regarding making a claim, but I haven't sent any letters to the company for months and months. To refresh myself, can anyone point me in the direction of a standard letter to send them and advise me exactly what proof they will and won't accept.
Thanks

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that totally out of the blue on Saturday, I received my cruise offers. I have chosen (and booked) the island star essence leaving on the 15th September. I still can't believe that after all this time I will be going....
Congratulations Jane. I have started a Roll Call topic for you.
That is great news, but not before time. Have a lovely, lovely time.
After being alerted by an HT member at the end of last year, I re-applied for the cruises that had been awarded to both me and my husband. He got a reply that his application was not valid and I got no reply. After a month or so I wrote again and this time my cruise was validated. Spurred on by the fact that others had written to the legal dept, I wrote too. It seemed ridiculous that one application should be OK and the other not. I said that it didn't even make sense financially because if I were to go on my own, the single supplement would be almost as much as a second person in the cabin. They didn't send me a letter in response but within a few days we both received 'offer' letters with a choice of 6 cruises. However, when I rang to book, the agent had no record of my husband being on the list. They had to check with DE, who told them the letter had been sent to my husband by mistake, but they would honour it if we travelled together. So, a great result anyway. We are off on the Island Escape on 9th October and it cost us £45.oo each. Many thanks to all HT members who have posted and kept us up to date with what's going on, and details of their own battles with DE. If I hadn't found this web site I don't think I would be going on the cruise at all. Well done HT and thanks.
Congratulations Pollyday and thanks for letting us know.
Now that I have my cruise booked I am trying to consider what excursions, if any, to go on. Can someone give me some insight into what to expect or even what excursion(s) to go on based on their experience. Your help would be appreciated. The cruise is the Mediterranean Essence.
