Tony, I'm sure that mine is gonna be the same as everyone elses. I am just surprised that so many thought it was an absolute confirmation.

Hi Alii.

The cruise line will have everyones booking details as the confirmations from Rxxx arent sent out until the cruise lines have confirmed.

Just quickly before I go to bed!

Like you say in the quote above, the cruise company (MSC for me) will have the details....but have not yet.

My "confirmation" is with Rise.....they have yet to confirm it with MSC.

Last time, with Louis, that confirmation didn`t happen......therefore no cruise was booked. Let`s hope that for whatever reason this does not happen again.

It all revolves around the interpretation of the term "confirmed".

I used to think I knew what it meant until all this happened.

Don`t blame me or others for being a tad sceptical.......the goalposts seem to have moved more than once already.

Goodnight

Tony :D

If you have a confirmation with Rise and a booking reference, than it is confirmed with MSC. Why do you think it is not?

I was told that for Rise to "confirm" a booking with us, means that the cruise company has confirmed with Rise.

Just to clarify. In my opinion this is how I refer to the following :-

"confirmation" is a definate booking with Rise.
"Allocation" is a cruise that Rise thought we would probably be going on.
"booking" "when I booked" etc, refers to actually speaking to Rxxx person and agreeing to go ahead with what they offer. It is then "booked"

This is what happened to me :-

Letter sent out with cruise itinery. These were just allocations. If you hadn't spoken to Rxxx on the phone and actually gone through the booking, discussed whether you were happy to proceed etc, it wasnt a "confirmation" letter. The cruise company wont know who you are.

Received phone call. Discussed if was happy with cruise offered over phone (slighly different to itinery in letter). Went through booking process ie checking if flights still available etc. Booking then made on my approval.

Confirmation was then sent out to me stating how much i'd paid, itinery, booking number, PNR number, flight e-ticket number etc.

As far as I have been told, when you book, it is confirmed with cruise company. I was also told when asked Rxxx person, that when it is booked, it is paid for by Rise, to cruise company at same time.

If you have the "confirmation" from Rxxx, then the cruise company has confirmed it.

After everything that has happened so far, do you really have to ask?

I no longer believe anything about this offer until I can verify it with an independant company. Have done so with the flight......now want to with the cruise company.

I don`t think that should be too much to ask....if it is booked, confirmed and set in stone, why is it not checkable?

I am self-employed so I can change plans at almost a minutes notice.....most people have to book annual leave well in advance.

Many have done that for cruises which did not materialise.........how many times are they expected to do that?

People obviously believed they were going on cruises to the Caribbean and South America....they even paid for and had their innoculations and purchased travel insurance.

Still, the cruises were pulled from under them.

Ask them all why they need to have more than a verbal `promise`that everything is OK before they go through the mill again.

I meant, did you think that Rxxx confirmed it, but that the cruise company don't, as standard.

If you though that then as i've said a confirmation from Rxxx is also confirmation from cruise company as i've been told.

If you realised that then great.

I can understand not trusting what is suppost to happen. I didnt and immediately checked on NCLs website! Its a shame all cruise companies don't have that facility.

I don't understand though how you can say for sure that MSC havn't confirmed, if you havnt been able to check.

I assume these werent actual bookings. I wouldnt go and get innoculations from just an allocation. I'd wait until it was booked. If people want to, then thats up to them.

Some cruise lines obviously don't have that facility. I don't really understand the point of your question. Are you blaming Rxxx, and thinking its dodgy just because a cruise company don't have the on-line facilty to check a booking?

they should have more than a verbal promise...they should have written confirmation. If not then they should not assume its confirmed!

Hi Alii,

I too fished out my letter from last October, and we seemed to have had the same one. I noticed, also, that the last paragraph stated that sole occupancy of a double cabin was a non-starter at £10 a throw. OOOOPS!!!!

Tony,

If Phil's cruise was cancelled because the flight was double booked, how come they have managed to find him a seat now? I did mean to ask last week why he was the only bold (no dear, not bald ) person on the Who's going Where etc., but l thought it would be something everyone but me had sussed out.

Night Night

good morning to everyone
i am off to southern england on work related business hence the early start. sorry if my news worried so many people..unfortunatly i have not ,as some people thought confused the original "you have been allocated the following cruise " letter with my actual booking confirmation.

i have this on the desk before me it is headed flight confirmation. details flight numbers, status confirmed, cruise status confirmed, electronic ticket numbers ...it most certainly looks like a confirmed booking. as i have said i am happy to accept the change of cruise and have always been treated with courtesy by rise. I want to accept that rise did think they had booked this for me but as a number of people have pointed out a confirmed booking means money has "changed hands " money has gone from my account but at some stage louis must have refused the transaction. I
I will look forward to yhis cruise with some optimism but the gnawing doubt will only disperse when i have unpacked in my cabin .jackie

Some time back we were asked not to contact them - I believe they posted on here themselves?

Off to work so haven't time to do a search, but perhaps someone else could?

I think the answer to this one is on the pulled forum. From memory one of our members contacted MSC and was told that they would have to check with their travel agent (****) for confirmation of their booked cruise. Which means that until the tickets and luggage labels arrive in the post, we are in the dark. I too have been able to find our booking on Alitalia, but have not been able to confirm the cruise. Very frustrating.

Just checked back through my posts and it is definately on the pulled forum, that we were able to check our flights ( all these posts are not available for us to view currently ).

Just as an incidental...is it possible for Van or Luci to update us on the legal situation?

I did ask earlier this week, but was told that there's no news yet. :?
