Hmmmm...it is a little tricky. There is a number you can call for enquiries about customs and excise duties etc, they may be able to give you some clarification or if not, at least point you in the direction of someone who can.
The number is.... 0845 010 9000
0r textphone for the hard of hearing.... 0845 000 020 (this number is to type rather than speak for customers who are deaf or hard of hearing, but please note, there will be no customer adviser on the other end of this line)
Or if you are calling from abroad.... ++44 2920 501 261
Good Luck!!. Cally ~x~

PS... while I understand the point being made by Vistra that the cigarettes final destination will be the UK and duty etc will be paid on the items as they are from Rhodes, the other point of matter is the fact that Luci the mods luggage was just "in transit" (passing through so to speak) and didnt actually enter Tenerife where the allowance for what you CAN bring INTO the country is a different matter altogether.
Regardless of the amount you can actually legally bring into the UK, if you have to take it into another country beforehand, you have to be sure of those limits and if the allowance for bringing into Turkey is X amount, then I would imagine that regardless of where they are going onto FROM Turkey, they are still being taken INTO Turkey before their onward journey.

To Peli, the laugh is it's not me who smokes - it's my pal. So I know that when you go on holiday with a smoker it is wise to keep them happy in the nicotine dept!

Hi Moondust. Check on your airlines website, some airlines do special offers like two one litre bottles of spirit for £16 and a special price on cigarettes. Otherwise get it in your Duty Free at Manchester.

Check the prices on the plane on the way out, we flew with Onur Air and the prices were a lot better than the airport so I waited and purchased them onboard. (£24 for 400 SilkCut)
