Sagres,

API has been a requirement for a few countries in addition to Spain for a while (including the UK) and is being rolled out throughout the year to several other countries on a route by route basis. If you've been asked to enter your details, it's now a requirement for that route.

I don't think that the UK requires API from passengers from European countries, maybe I'm wrong but I haven't been asked for it as yet.

Cheers, Darren - I've just googled it and am a little wiser now. I've gone into my booking for next month and added the API details to that.
I imagine that there's going to be some fun at check in next month with those folks who have booked a while back and know nothing about it - 'cos Easyjet certainly haven't notified me of the new requirement -I only found out about it because I've just booked another flight.

Sagres,

It shouldn't be much of a problem, the information can be given at the airport as well although it should strictly speaking be given in advance (>5 hours before the flight departs). For example, it's given at check-in for my flights to Turkey later this year (I'm not travelling with EZY). API is nothing new, it's just being rolled out across europe and many other destinations around the world for security reasons.

Lets just say "Big Brother" is watching and if API is requested completion is required.

the UK is looking at it! The relevant Parliamentary committee has been taking evidence from interested parties (obviously not travellers). Eurostar claim it's illegal to collect the info in advance in Europe (not sure how accurate that claim is and which bits of Europe they were thining of given their restricted network!) and that doing it at check-in would increase check-in time and undermine their business advantage. Probably just a coincedence they mention that at a time when the Government is trying to privatise the UK part of Eurostar!!

Hi
easyjet have released some of their flights from Liverpool up until June 2010, I have just booked my flights to Mallorca for next May Whit bank holiday week, not as cheap as last year, :( but at least no panic now Oct or Nov, when they're ususally released. :D

Belfast-Stansted only available up to 27th March. Not fair that Belfast flights are always last to be released. Belfast is part of UK, correct geographical title is United Kingdom of Great Britain AND Northern Ireland.

Hi cate .. I don't think the timing of the release of seats is anything to do with Belfast or its geographical location. Some routes to/from Belfast have already been released up to June 2010. The fact that Belfast/Stansted is not yet available is more to do with the fact that many routes to/from London (as well as some Scottish airports) are still to be released.

madsaf,

Welcome onboard :tup
Please supply flight numbers when you can as there are often several flights. EMA-FAO-EMA (EZY6551/2) are operated by an Airbus A319-100. You'll find further aircraft details on our What Aircraft? guide and onboard catering on Easyjets website.

Thanks David, so it's more likely that flights from Stansted haven't been released yet. Would easyjet release all flights from stansted at the same time or do they do it a few at a time in which case I suspect Belfast would be among the last? thing is I'd want to get the flights booked early but then if we haven't decided names, how easy is it to book flights with 'infant' in the names box at boooking and then change once we know what their names are? How much do they charge?

We returned yesterday from Dalaman and were not impressed by our experience with the special assistance boarding there. At Gatwick, on departure, everything was well organised and we were called immediately after the Speedy Boarders. At Dalaman, however, it was basically a free for all and although those with speedy boarding and those who needed special assistance tried to get to the front of the pushing and shoving masses, it was impossible and the staff eventually just let everyone board. My autistic daughter, who finds the whole boarding thing a challenge at the best of times, was injured as she was elbowed out of the way by some ignorant oaf who obviously wanted a good seat despite waving a group B boarding card - he managed to board before any of the speedy boarders and got exit seats. I hope he sleeps well at night :( My daughter boarded the aircraft upset yet the aircrew couldn't have cared less. Unfortunately I have more Eastjet seats to Dalaman booked for 2 weeks time but these will be the last ones until they sort out the boarding at overseas airports.

cazzholly, sorry to hear about your experience. I'd email Easyjet and complain about that. I've worked with children who have special needs before and that has included children with Autism. It might not be all foreign airports, from what I've read some do enforce the speedy boarders, special assistance, group A and the group B sequence for boarding. Not sure how it works if you're bussed to plane or if gate to plane is via airbridge.

Hi, Sorry to hear your daughter suffered at Dalaman, we came back on an easyjet flight from there in June and they did it ok with children and assisted people first, then A then B, so hopefully your next flight willbe ok must be which staff you get.

Thanks for your sympathies cate and lady. Fortunately our flight in a couple of weeks time will just be my husband and I travelling so we're not bothered how quickly we board or where we sit so no problems there, but I won't be risking the frenzied boarding again with Easyjet if we're travelling with my daughter, it's just too upsetting for her. We've travelled with Easyjet on numerous occasions as a couple but try to avoid them when travelling as a family because we have had similar experiences before but I spoke to them before we flew and were assured that by them putting our booking as requiring special assistance we wouldn't have any problems. I appreciate Easyjet don't oversee the boarding arrangements overseas themselves so I can't see any point in complaining about the service. Maybe we were just unlucky on this occasion, usually the passengers form something of a queue and wait patiently but on Monday it was like being in a pack of animals! If I'd have booked speedy boarding, I would have been very disappointed as people who had paid to board first weren't able to fight their way to the front and I think the staff decided to let everyone board as they couldn't control the queue. In future I'll use Easyjet to get to Dalaman when it's just the two of us travelling but when going as a family I think we'll play safe and use an airline with allocated seats!

I am a bit worried this will happen when we come back from Bodrum as we have two young children. We are off tomorrow so I will let everyone knows what happens when we get back. I am not bothered where we sit, I just don't want my children to pushed around by idiots :yikes

This is one of the reasons that I try and avoid flying with any airline that does not allocate seats. Unfortunately due to BA cancelling our Malta flights in January we will be travelling EJ.

Whilst some of the problems lie with the boarding procedure not being implemented correctly at the gate a lot of the trouble must be blamed on the sheer ignorance and rudeness of a small minority of passengers who seem to believe that they have the right to board before everyone else and never mind the consequences.

On my first flight with EJ I was using crutches - whilst most passengers allowed me through in front of them there were a few who seemed to not see my crutches and almost caused me to have another accident. Believe me, if they didn't see them then they probably felt them - very useful they were!!!

I think until a small minority of the Great British Public learn some manners and respect then we will continue to have this problem.
