Breakfast is between 8-10am. We use to get up at about 9.40 and be down in restaurant by 9.45!

Absolutely no way would I get up at that time for a sunbed either- (I'm on my jollies- and part of that is having a nice long lie in after the night before!!!). If your not down by about 8.30- you haven't a hope in hell of getting a sunbed!

Luckily for us- our friends who are very early risers 6am-6.30 am :yikes - use to reserve ours- :)

Hi,
When we were there in July we had no problem getting a sunbed but the only problem was if you had a particular spot you liked to sunbathe and the sunbeds were taken you would possibly have to move elsewhere. The only other way around this was ,and I seen it been done, was to put your towels down as you were going to bed.I felt like picking them up and throwing them in the pool but my wife persuaded me not to.And yes they were British and not German!!.

Got back on Wednesday(boohoo). Fantastic holiday as always and yes we did get up very early for the sunbeds but we see it as part of the holiday and aren't that bothered by it. Our fave thing now is to get up at 7am for sunbeds then go on to the beach for the sunrise - it is beautiful,so peaceful and so recommended!
Shame about the beach bar now not being part of the hotel. Didn't seem to be frequented by the English to be honest but didn't really bother us with noise. A couple of evenings it was a bit noisy while the entertainment was on. It did seem rather tacky though with a little hut for massages and 100 euro charge for a double sunbed!!
Entertainment team this year were fab as always with Omar,Lex,Paco,Mathilde,Lizbet and Anna. Omar was hilarious and seemed to do a great double act with Anna. Loved the karaoke night which they havent had for a few years. Fiesta staff worked very hard to keep the hotel clean and the bar/waiting staff were very friendly as always.

Do watch out for overweight cases on your return journey, they are being very strict and charging at the airport even if just 3 kilos over. Remember that towels weigh a lot more when wet!! Make sure you are well under weight on the way out to allow for this. I have never known them charge before.

Brilliant holiday though and 50 weeks to the next one...lol

thomsons are always very strict on weight of cases. been like it for a few years now.they even if not sure ask to weigh your hand bags.best to through your towels way.i used to use a light weight throw on that you can buy from most shops in ibiza, very thin and light.just takes that hot feeling away from the sunbed, drys easy in a light breeze of hot sun.my hotel surplies towels at 10 euro depoist.and you can change them as many time you like.

plus get rid of toilet stuff you had taken out.soaps gels ect.even suntan cream adds ups.try to travel light in the first place if you can.all those things you bought add up in case.

got loads more tips but its gonna cost you.

Very accurate and lightweight - know where you stand before you get to the airport :)

woody - I never miss breakfast, get up just in time for it!

I just don't believe in getting up early just for a sun lounger as we don't sit around the pool that much anyway, certainly not all day in the same spot as some prefer to do.
If we had children with us it may be a different story though.

The issue with baggage weights - any idea if we can add an extra 5kg even after tickets are issued?
Reply
well not sure/did you book with portland or thomsons.i know they are both the same.but portland have only 15kg on some hols.you could try contacting them direct.think its something like £17.50 for an extra 5kg.mine you look at your booking.if 20kg thats enough really, you have 5kg as hand baggage.

end of the day if they say no.its money they are not getting.

like you say more to lying around allday.get out for a stroll.visits other places.you get a far better tan walking.and get to see more.mine you every ones hols is different.its your time and money.

Hiya Woody, we are booked with Thomson and already have 20kg but last year with Thomas Cook we had the same and ended up being charged on the return journay at Gran Canaria airport! 48 quid!
Will just have to be careful and use some of your tips on towels etc.
Have you any idea if the Don Toni let you hire towels or would it be cheaper to buy one in the local shops?

We went with Thomson and the excess baggage charge we managed to avoid was 9€ a kilo which is rather hefty. We were 3 kilos over and only got away with not paying after a bit of creeping in spanish and chatting to the airport rep who said we would be able to put 3kg worth into our hand luggage anyway.

Plenty of shops just near the Don Toni and I was looking at towels in one of the shops as they had huge sun bed size ones that were really nice! Cost about 12€ but were cheaper ones too. Big rubber rings were about 7€ as were lilos if that helps at all!

Cheers Ibizamad, I have bought some towels to take but I think might be best to just buy a couple of cheap ones over there, or use one of our hand luggage to put them in maybe.

Did you stay in Club or Hotel?

We have been to Bahamas the last twice in PDB so are used to the shops etc, just sometimes find it hard to get any bargains haha

The time seems to be creeping by very slowly now and I'm sick of waiting to go, what was weather like for you guys?

mackem67 when you going out.
those throw ons have nice designs on them.you can get them for 3 euro or pay more for a better one.i used to use the cheap ones at first from la sirena shop.but got a few nice ones from the shop where the taxi rank is in pdb main strip.its on the corner you see them hanging up in outside area.

We stayed in the Club from the 19th Aug for 2 weeks. We thought it was hotter than last year - I even ended up buying a fridge magnet with a thermometer(sad I know!!). On most days the temp reached 50 degrees C in the sun by the afternoon...VERY hot! We had one hour of rain which was great fun as everyone huddled under their parasols! It soon got hot again when it stopped! It will only be a bit cooler when you go and the evenings will be cooler - don't know when they bring the entertainment indoors. The air con in reception was a welcome relief for an afternoon game of cards after lunch with the kids! We have stayed in the CDT a few times before so felt really at home as soon as we arrived.

Aston and Marvin from JLS were staying in the hotel next door and sat in the beach bar when we were there and were fab, I had my photo taken with them as did the kids!!! LOL

Your hol will come round very quickly - we have friends going out at the same time and are very envious!

Have a great time...

Can we keep on topic please, ie regarding the hotel? There are several topics in our Flights and General Holiday Enquiries forums which are more appropriate for discussing baggage allowance, etc.

ah yes I know woody, it will be nice to meet you.

Just wondered if anyone else was coming out, I did put this as a separate topic so people could actually see it but it seems it has been merged. Never mind.

:cheers

The title of your stand alone post wasn't clear as it only stated a date with no mention of the hotel name so was unlikely to attract anyone staying there.

Now that it has been merged with the main topic, anyone subscribed to this topic will receive notification of your new post which they wouldn't have with a topic in its own.

Most of our established members don't need to read the whole topic as you can just click on the orange "page" next to the topic title on the main forum to take you straight to the newest unread posts.
