Hi again Darren (we spoke about luggage allowances) is this one of the aircraft we wil be flying on from Gatwick to Salvador Brazil on 5th May FCA044, do you know any flight plans etc ?

want2gothere,

FCA only use Boeing 767-300ER's on their long haul routes so you'll be on one as well. When you say flight plans, do you mean the routing? The distance is 4971 miles and the flight time approx. 10hrs 15 mins. This is the likely route to SSA:

Oh, nuts!
I hate full flights, I wanted lots of empty seats in premium so I could have a whole row to myself!
I take it that , no matter what time you check-in, your allocated seats will not have been given away then?
although we'll be at the airport probably before check-in even opens!
I am a bit particular on flights, I like to be on the right side by the window for outbound flights. 8) , it wont ruin my trip if I'm not but I would prefer it.

I will do at some stage, not had chance as yet. I'll try and put something together over the bank holiday but can't promise. For reasons you'll read in the report, I didn't take many photo's so it won't be as comprehensive as my usual one.

Now, had you asked some 4 weeks ago i would have told you about fantastic destinations which FCA will be taking you to from 2009 with the B787 Dreamliner.

The future isnt as clear now though as Thomson and First Choice could well be merging (as long as its approved). Very few people know what is going to happen to the airlines the companies and so on, and unfortunatly i am not one of those people yet.

However i can have a guess, First Choice airways may stay as the long haul operator as it has built up a good name, possibly with TUI branding, and likewise the tour operator side of FC may become just long haul.
(Check back in a few months and we will see if i was anywhere near the mark, but probably not)

Sorry for the long answer. Its so complicated.

Nessa,

BEfreeTODAY has more insider knowledge than me so I'll leave that part to him. Aircraft wise, it'll be one of their excellent Boeing 767-300ER's. Check-in is normally 2-3 hours prior to your departure time but I can't see any reason why you can't check-in a bit earlier than this.

Nessa, I was on your flight a few weeks ago. The check-in opened about 6.00pm - 6.15pm.

Hi

Only 21 more days to go until i will smell the Cuban air. Flying out from Manchester on FCA048 on Sat 28th April at 10.20/ FCA165 on the return two weeks later. Hope everything will be on time can't wait after reading the posts about how good first choice is, so really looking forward to the flight as well as the two week break in the Iberostar Varadero.

Seen a few pictures of the 767-300ER and pictures of the cabin and it looks like a very good aircraft (but what do i know...lol) wonder which one it will be that takes us out G-OOAN, G-OOBK, G-OOBL, G-OOBM, G-DBLA or the latest G-PJLO will just have to wait and see.

Thanks Darren for the infomation you gave me earlier in this thread

Everyone keep up the good work

Regards

Andy

I'm flying to Salvador, Brazil on the 17th September with FCA. The following day I am flying on to Rio for a 4 night tour. Can anyone tell me what airline is used to fly to and from Rio? I'm a nervous flyer and don't like the thought of being on one of those foreign low cost airlines!!!

Thats a great report Dazbo.

The skymap never works, its lucky if it even works on G-PJLO so im told because its a software problem.

Thanks BEfreeTODAY,

It was working when I flew back from Cuba on G-OOBM last March, and on the return journey this time on G-DBLA (trip report to come when I get chance!) so they work 50% of the time in my experence. We flew straight through the middle of Kentucky on the way back from PVR, there wasn't a 'fly through' for us though so we had to make do with chicken al-a first choice rather than the southern fried variety!

There're a few screan shots of Skymap on the report I did last year:
First Choice Airways Flight FCA049 from Varadero, Cuba (Juan Gualberto Gomez, VRA/MUVR) - Manchester (MAN/EGCC), 17th March 2006

I booked a really cheap flight to Dalaman, to fly on thursday 21st June. I did this before Christmas and passed the info to a friend who booked a sunday flight at the beginning of june and he got it as cheap as me - thing is, First Choice have rung him and told him the flight is cancelled (and the same thing has happened to someone else he knows who is also flying on a sunday in June) - they told him the other flights were full so he could only have a refund ... are they cancelling all the sunday flights???

here we go the start of things, i was wondering if anyone elses flights had been cancelled, fc have cancelled my birmingham to dalaman flights too although they were on a thurs, they were booked in sept for an excellent price, transferred me to an airport 2.5 hours away and refused to move me to a nearer airport despite having availability so ive cancelled my flights got a refund and rebooked with another co, total disgrace !!!

Hi Darren

I noticed from your postings that you have recently used the above flights - many thanks for all your information about the planes on this site and on airliners. It was really interesting reading your reviews. I am due to fly out to PV on 3rd July for 2 weeks with my husband and 3 teenage daughters (got a fantastic price from Eclipse Direct) and I was wondering if you received a complimentary pack containing headphones etc or if you have to purchase them onboard.
Many thanks for all your info
