im not the brownist of people so i tend to burn before i go brown, so factor 30 at least for me, how long you reccomend staying in the sun?

Sorry for all the questions just i am new to this.

If you are fair then definately wear Factor 30 for the first few days and try to avoid sitting in the sun between 12 and 2pm i know this is difficult as once you are there all your inhibitions go right out the window and you don't care. But this is the hottest time of the day and you don't wanna spend the rest of your hols looking like a lobster :D
After a couple of days reduce factor to 10/15 this will still protect you but you will get a nice tan also :)
Have a great time Chris

many thanks i will do thaty i will prob get my tan by walking around a lot, but i will try and go tanning about 4ish, so if i wear 30 and down the 10/15, it wont completely block so i dont burn will it,. Sorry if all thsi sounds stupid, but would be great to have nice tan :D

No :)
the only way to block the sun completely would be to wear "Sun Blocker" whatever factor you wear you will defo get a nice deep tan :D

Hi, we're (4 adults & 2 children) going to Cyprus on Wednesday 27th July for a week. We are staying at the Akti Beach Village outside Paphos. We would like to hire a car for a few days and we would also like to go on some trips but we've been advised not to book either of these via the rep as they will be expensive.

Where is the best place to hire a car and to book some trips?

This will be our first 'package holiday' so I'd be grateful for any hints, tips and advice in relation to our holiday.

Thanks.

Fiz

Hi and welcome

the largest tour company in the area is the Louis group you will find many shops selling their trips (and car hire companies)

when it comes to car hire please refere to the main thread on the following link

Book trips from one of the local places in Pafos, Reps tend to have a big mark-up on what the trips actually cost (its the same the world over, not just Cyprus).

I only visited Pafos for a day so don't know the shops etc, but I'm sure you will get more people giving advice...

PS We were in Pernera (Nr Protaras) at the opposite end of the island and it took about 2 hours+ to drive quite sedately across to Pafos. Roads are like British A roads and all signs in English, very similar to being in the UK..

Hi Fiz,

Just up the road from the Akti is a Bar called the Dimma Bar. If you call in there a speak to Michael the owner he has a small number of cars for rental at a very very economical price. Minumum rental is four day at a cost of approx C£18.00 per day

Once you have the car take a trip into Kato Paphos and visit one of the many travel shops for tours.

Have a great one

hi fiz :wave im fizz with the extra f :rofl :rofl sorry couldnt resist that one, first time in paphos? you and the kids are going to love it, the driving is very safe in cyprus with exception of the taxi drivers
but dont they think they own the road wherever you go :)
we have two children 4&14 and we enjoyed the waterpark, paphos birdpark, cosmic bowling, the best beach we found was at coral bay, they do watersports there also and have a great snack bar on the beach,
and you have to visit the troodos mountains, i just know you will have a lovely time

Hi Fiz,

As has been said, don't go through the reps for
trips or car hire. There are lots of places to get both
and lots of good advice given above.
It might be your first trip but I don't think it'll be your last

I agree with Helen. You can do so much when you hire your own car, and its cheaper! Last year we went travelling all over from Protaras where we were staying. We went upto the Troodos mountains, which were breathtaking, Dyrenia, Famagusta, Ayia Napa Waterpark and Funfair, to name but a few! You will pay lots more going through the reps. Not only that, you get to do your own thing, in your own time!! :wink
