fly to mainland, ferry to corfu

next summer we are thinking of flying to mainland greece then getting a ferry over to corfu for our holiday, trying something different

how easy is this likely to be, which ports could we get a ferry as foot passengers and how easy is it to get there probably from Athens airport

it is just a thought at the moment but cant seem to find much decent info at the moment.

looking at traiins/buses/taxis not really wanting to go down the route of hire car for a 1 way trip on each journey

any help/info or websites would be greatly appreciated

It may be easier to get the ferry across from Brindisi , in Puglia Italy as it is very close . Athens is miles away and totally the other end of greece. We met a lady in Corfu a few years ago that had done just that. Brindisi has it's own airport so should be quite simple to do.
Travelling by Ferry as foot passengers is no problem - the you can hire the car the other end!

It is quite easy just get the bus from Athens Terminal A There are about 3 per day to Corfu also to Zakinthos and Kefalonia. The bus goes on the ferry. The X93 bus connects from Athens airport to that bus terminal.
