Fly Jet are covering their flights from Manchester at the moment with a Lockhead L1011 Tristar of Luzair. I'm not sure how long this will be for, but for those who are travelling over the next day or two, you're in for a treat. Wish I was flying with them, I've always wanted to ride on a Tristar :sulk

Oh dear me :(

We booked up with Libra Holidays almost 12 months ago to fly to Cyprus from Manchester, departing 17th June.

I only just looked to check who we are flying with, and it looks like it's FlyJet - read around a bit and it really doesn't look good does it!

And as for that story about those poor passengers being stuck on the runway for 8 hours, it defies belief!

I really am dreading the prospect of the flight now!

Just a quick question (for anyone who has flown with them) - there will only be two people in my party - do I need to contact them in advance to guarantee we will be sitting together on the way out and on the way back, or will it be okay given there are only two of us?

Cheers

wj209980,

You should be fine. Just arrive at the airport 2 hours before your flight and you should have seats together no problem. Its only those that turn up late when most of the seats have been allocated that run in to problems generally.

Just returned to Manchester from Dalaman. Don't wish to worry anyone unduly, as this is only our experience. But we were not impressed by FlyJet. 2 hour delay going, 3 hour delay returning. the aircraft was "scruffy", no entertainment. Had to pay £5 for food that was just awful. I pre ordered a bottle of Champagne onboard(Phoned Flyjet direct) for my daughter and her boyfriend as they were to become engaged while on holiday. When i asked for it to be presented to them i was told that Flyjet don't even offer that kind of service. I recieved confirmation by post before we left and £20 was taken out of my account, But unfortunately i left confirmation at home so couldn't prove what i was saying. As we were taxiyng out for the return flight were told that there would be no food whatsoever!!!. Unbelievable!!!. They came round once with the bar trolley, and couldn't even be othered to come round with duty free. I will be making some phone calls 1st thing on Tuesday.
Sorry if i am being negative but i really don't like being treated like cattle.
As i said on the subject. "Never Again"

Any help is appreciated :)

I just came back from Dalaman yesterday and would like to offer some reassurance on Flyjet.

I couldn't fault our flights at all. Outgoing was slightly delayed by about half an hour. The plane itself was standard, we would all like more legroom, but no less uncomfortable than any other airlines I've used over the last few years.

Food was fine, new style arrangement where you get a plastic bag in with your cutlery to put it all in afterwards, and there is no charge for meals, it is complementary on all but a few flights to specific destinations.

Drinks came round first, then meal, then duty free, staff pleasant and friendly.

Home flight was early in both departure and landing.

Couldn't fault them, would fly with them again any time.

Hi- we are flying with Flyjet from Manchester to Sharm on 1st Sept - never flown with them before. Has anyone done this flight and any comments or suggestions? Also - do you think it is worth the £17.50 to upgrade to extra leg room?

Thanks

Flyjet are ok to fly with. seat pitch is the same as all other charter outfits such as Thomson and First choice. both there 757 aircrafts hold 233 people.
There on-time performance has really improved recently with minor technical situations which all airlines have.
Just that Flyjet have fewer aircrafts so are more noticeable.
If your flight is going to be delayed it is going to be delayed nothing can be done.
Have just seen the news with Flyjet yet again being talked about.
BBC etc need to focus on more news than a flight being delayed.

I don't work for them but just really feel sorry for the crews etc as they really are a fantastic airline.
The news also states that Flyjet will not operate from Newcastle after October.
Dunno if this is true or not.
But all of you should just go on holiday and have a good time and not worry about your flights.
Like I said if its going to happen it will happen never mind who your flying with.

It's true that Flyjet will not operate from Newcastle after October. A spokesman for the airport confirmed this on the local news today, which was reporting on yet another delayed Flyjet flight from Newcastle. The Flyjet flight from Newcastle to Tenerife has just departed, over 14 hours late.

Bertie3.
Thats why people worry about flying with them. They're not reliable. How can you not worry when you hear about all these problems. 14 hours is a substantial delay for anyone.

Sorry Bertie, that was meant for scott0404.
