We booked a holiday via lastminute.com to Albufeira recently. Their website said the operator was ATOL bonded. The operator was Flight Options. There was no mention of an ATOL number on their paperwork.
We flew out from Gatwick on Flyjet FJE422 on time at 06:00 31st August. We were due to return yesterday from Faro at 09:30 on Flyjet FJE423.
On arriving at the check-in desk at 07:00, we (and everyone else expecting to fly back on that flight) were informed that the flight would not be running and a flight was being arranged for around 21:30 by another aircraft/airline. The reason at that time was given as technical/operational.
The flight operator (not sure whether it was AVRO or Cosmos - both reps were there) offered to take all of us back to Vilamoura by coach to be accommodated in seven rooms of a hotel for the day with some meals provided, then to be brought back later in the day for the re-arranged flight.
Because we had pre-booked plans for yesterday evening, we declined the offer. There appeared to be no standby flights available to Gatwick, (surprise, surprise) so we decided to book a couple of tickets on Monarch ZB215 leaving at 13:30 at a cost 526.88 euros!
Just before we flew out, we were handed an apology letter with a Flyjet letterhead saying that Astreaus were unable to operate that flight at that time due to knock-on effects from a previous sector, whatever that means. It would be interesting to find out the real reason(s).
Just wondering what time the re-arranged flight left - anyone out there know?
