I know we have exhausted this topic before but can someone explain to me why it is necessary for someone to walk along the Calangute - Candolim road in [i]just [/i]a pair of speedos The chap had a nice physique (to be fair) but, without wanting to sound like a prude, (which I am not) - surely this is beach wear

God only knows, I know this is a tourist state but i have seen near naked girls( piece of floss) and guys on bikes driving, half naked people in the supermarkets and the list goes on and some of them not a pretty sight at all ( pilsbury dough people come to mind) I personally want to slap them and get embarassed being near them, the indian ladies are mortified and the indian men just stare then the tourists get the hump. Why do it in the first place dont they read the manual before coming to a highly religious country.

the same reasoning that allows females to walk round in a bikini which barely covers their bits...lol....i have a mate who wears only speedos and thinks he looks good, and i havent the heart to tell him otherwise....lol

I can't stand looking at them on the beach never mind anywhere else 
baggy shorts for me, couldn't underline my belly with a pair of speedos
It seems to me it is mainly our Russian friends who wear speedos.Most European men(and I do mean most)are now aware what a faux pas it is to wear them.As for me I have never objected to seeing young ladies in a bikini anywhere however I have now reached an age and weight were anywhere away from the beach means a T-shirt and shorts are an absolute must.Amazes me some people male and female appear to not look in the mirror.
i have to agree with debgreg, but if thats what they are comfortable with who am i to say different,
but i do think that its only politeness to cover up when walking around the streets, keep the speedos for he beach....

I just think it was inappropriate clothing for walking the streets in, speedos IMO are for the beach. To be fair to the guy he did have a nice bod, he wasn't some fat bloater or anything but he did stand out like a sore thumb and as has been said, the Goans do have modesty standards which appear driven by their strong religious convictions.
Sorry guys/gals my vote is, no speedos in the street, same goes for bikinis and bare chested men in shorts -

Please cover up when walking the streets - do whatever you like on the beach.

ban all speedos all over the world ,they are the worst swim wear ever.

Del ill take that as tongue in cheek as it was intended Although I do think Woman shouldn't go topless in Goa regardless of their age, I hate to see the older lady's with their thrupennys hanging out! Sorry if that offends but I really don't think its appropriate in Goa.
Speedos should never be worn by any man any shape any size any where! Even David Beckham couldnt make them look good.

Well I wouldn't go that far Elliebee, I reckon he'd look good in anything, even a sack and del, I have just ordered me tent 
- my bikinis didn't even get out of the case this time, took one look at them and thought nooooo, just woouldn't be right to inflict THAT on anyone. 
Bikini days are definitely history
