Apologies to those that have responded to MilleMiglia question. MilleMiglia first posted the question in our General section but as it was more appropriate in this forum, so it was moved and merged to this topic.
we are flying with Thomsons to Goa and have 5 kgs hand luggage each, so can i have a holdall and a handbag as carry-on or do i put my handbag inside the holdall for checkin purposes please. Usually go sheduled this is why i'm not sure, thanks for any help
You are only permitted one piece of hand luggage so your hand bag will need to go inside your hand luggage. Once you've checked in, you'll be fine however (oops, did I just say how you can get around the restriction, naughty me!).
Darren
thanks Darren for the info, very helpful
Thomsons airlines regulation hand luggage size is 25 x 45 x 55cms....and how many of us have worried about obtaining one the right size...I have....doing all the shops armed with a tape measure.
A few days ago I bought a big bag from a local store....the kind used to take washing launderette in...tight woven plastic...check design...with zip fastner on the top....think a few of you will be saying "I know the ones you mean "....youve maybe got one...they have loads of good uses not just for washing....Ive used them for storing all kinds of stuff....the latest one I bought as I had loads of knitting wool in bags all over the place and thought this bag an ideal storage solution.
Well its that time of year again and I was trying to remember right bag to use for thomascook...so I came mooching on HT looking for an old post of mine giving all the different regulation sizes for most of the airlines hand luggage....the bag full of wool kept catching my eye...and couldnt resist measuring it...after all every other type of bag in the house had been done at some time looking for a bag to suit one airline or other...
Couldnt believe it.... it measures 25 x 45 x 55cms...exact size for thomsons hand luggage....and it weighs basicaly nothing ...so you can get full weight allowance in it
Who will be the first to board with this new trendy checked plastic hand luggage
ps...they come in red or blue check
.....tweetie
It might fit the size regulations but I wouldn't been seen dead with one, would you ?
hi denny.53.....could be a few trend setters out there.....what I cant figure out is why allow you such a big bag ...but only 5kgs of stuff to put in it....think would take a lot more weight allowance to fill it....think someone at thomsons had one of these bags at home and measured it for the size...for a joke on us....as its the only bag Ive ever found that is the exact regulation size ...twewetie
Roger
mmmm......very interesting rogerdodger....maybe a useful bag then if you dont want to pay for checked in luggage for a weekend trip....Im flying thomascook this year and they are mean on size and weight...tweetie
Hand luggage allowance with Thomson Airways is 5kg standard and 7kg for Premium passengers, Premier / Platinum holday customers only. They carry out random spot checks on hand luggage and will weigh it if you're pushing your hold limits. Anyone found to exceed their luggage limits will be charged excess baggage allowance or made to redistribute weight.
Darren
wow dazbo5....this bag could be a trend setter for the elite who travel in premium then....they might start making designer label ones if they take off and start selling enough
You never know! I'll stick to my camera rucksack in the mean time though
We did not travel premium but it was a cruise which may be why,but if you look in the Thomson brochure under A-Z booking info 'Luggage allowance for all destinations is 23kg in the hold(checked in) and 7kg in the cabin' our tickets reflected this and we also had a Thomson onboard letter stating that max hand lug was 10kg?. In the new Thomson cruise brochure it actually states 25Kg in hold and 7Kg hand but this could be an error.
I think weights have and will alway be confusing.
Regards
Roger
Cruise allowances aren't the norm for Thomson flights / holidays. I just wanted to make sure there was no confusion if other members read it and assumed it applied to all Thomson flights. Luggage allowanes differ based on the type of holiday. In your case, you have elevated allowances above the standard because it's a cruise charter.

Hi ,my friend has to carry an epi-pen at all times, does anybody know whether there will be a problem taking it in her hand luggage, thanks for any advice,T.
OSCARBEN,
I know the situation regarding liquids in your hand luggage but what about other items such as crisps, confectionary and a big bag of sweets for the flight? Can these be carried in your hand luggage and be taken thru' security or do we need to pay thru' the nose for these items once we are in the departure lounge or on the 'plane?
Cheers.
David
The only restrictions are on liquids and dangerous items.
