troops,

Yes, that's classed as a liquid / gel. You can take it, as long as it's in quantities less than 100ml and you can fit the containers inside a 1L clear plastic bag. Only one bag per passenger is permitted. Full details are on page 1. Which airport are you flying from? Many will have shops open at that time of morning.

Will you get what you need from Boots? It's open from 04:00 - 22:00 on Sundays in the departure lounge.

Morning everyone. I might have posted this question before so please bear with me (I will print replies this time). Me and my friend are going to Majorca for 4 days in July. We have opted for 10 kilos cabin baggage only :yikes . My friend is worried about all our essentials (make-up, shampoo, body lotions etc). Are these type of things limited to 100 mls and I think someone said you could have a maximum of 1000 mls. Beginning to wish we had paid the 30 quid each for putting the cases in the hold :rofl . Gx

just forget it and buy them either once through to departures or in resort it will work out cheaper than paying for hold baggage

It's the make-up we are worried about!! I think mascara is classed as a liquid? Not sure about stuff like lip glosses. Would cost a lot more than 30 quid to stock up on make-up in departures or resort :rofl .

pargaluvva,

Make-up that is in power form is fine. However anything that is a liquid or gel is limited to 100ml and each passenger can only take one clear plastic bag up to 20cm x 20cm with them. More details are on page 1 of this thread. As Wizard mentions, lotions etc are best purchased in duty free due to the restrictions taking them through with you.

hi pargaluva....if you want to keep within your 10kgs and your liquid allowances....you need to do some careful planning....each person is allowed up to 1000mls of liquid...each item must not exceed 100mls...whatever way you use this allowance the items you take must all fit in a regulation size resealable plastic bag...for clarification thats 10 items of liquid each no more than 100mls each.......if you have items of 50mls or 20mls you can take more individual items...

Any liquids bought on airside after the security check are not counted and you can buy as much as you want....though some airlines are stricter than others and they may be counted towards your hand luggage weight...

You can buy 100ml plasic travel bottles and pots from the likes of asda and tesco's cheaply that can be used over and over again....they are sold especially for this use...decanant your favourite creams lotions ect into these....you should get enough in for 4 days worth.....try your stores for samples of your favourite potions ect if you only need a small amount to last 4 days...

Instead of trying to take all your make up bag....tip it all out on a tray and go through it...put back in what you definatly wont use....then what your unlikely to use even though you love it...then go through picking out the colours ect that go with the clothes you are taking....then finaly thin it down so you have only what you really will use and cant do without.....the powders can go back in a bag to go in your luggage with your clothes......dont know how many mls tubes of make up ect you have are....but get a piece of paper and a pen and go through the tubes ect writing down how many mls each tube ect says is in it ....anything over 100mls it needs decanting into a travel pot or get an alternative in smaller tube ect

( you have to go by what it states on the tube ect...if it says 5omls...even if its half empty ...it will still count as 50mls.....if it is in grams no worry as 1gram =1ml)

If traveling with another female friend get your heads together and each take different items of make up...so between you both you get to take a bigger choice...

Then you need to get your final vital liquid choices to fit in the regulation bag so they can all be easily examined without the need for the bag to be opened

Treat yourself in the duty free to your favourite or a new perfume...ask for samples .....this wont count ...and buy small size shower gell ect from boots...

Thought I post with a female insight...hope it helps

Just remember if you treat yourself to a bottle of perfume on the way out or in resort you will still have to comply with the liquid restrictions on the return journey.

Troops, you CAN take food and milk for infants in quantities of over 100mls, you just have to be prepared to tase it at security. Bottles of milk or food for babies doesn't need to be in the 'liquids' bag. Hubby and I had no problem at Belfast or Stansted with food and bottles for our 5 month old twins.

shrimper,

You are permitted to take medication on to the aircraft, the rules are the same as flying anywhere really. Any restricted items or sharpes (eg needles) etc need to be accompanied by a doctors note / prescription.
