hi guys, tenerife is featured tonight on 'holiday showdown extreme'
9pm, itv1
should be interesting viewing, hope we can spot some familiar places .................. !
I think this is a repeat of one shown last year. I often wonder why TV companies put families, whose ideas of holidays are different, away on the same holiday just to create friction therebye good television perhaps.
this is hilarious it shows what dump the place is and the people it attracts,
Is there any wonder Tenerife gets bad reviews with tv programmes like this.I like a drink as much as the next person but the family from hell featured in the programme were an absolute disgrace with there foul language, probably everything the british are despised for abroad. It would be better if they stayed at home, still I expect ITV paid for the booze.
Their next holiday should be a week at the dentist!.
Nice one Jay Trip!

We all know what a downer you have on the place from your post in other threads. It was quite obvious that the programme was more to do with the family that chose to holiday there, rather than the destination itself.
That family could have gone to any country in the world & their holiday would have been identical.
The fact that they chose Tenerife was to me pretty irrevelant.
we love tenerife and they do give the wrong inpression of the place mind you did not fancy the holiday to egypt
from sue
Can't agree with becca though, that they should have stayed at home. Would be better for the UK if they stayed in Tenerife. Dental work permitting of course. Are there really people like this? LOL
I too like a bevvy on holiday, but I also appreciate the many lovely restraunts, scenery, people and also enjoy having a go at speaking spanish !
Its a shame the other families highlight was the waterpark, when they could have shown them loro park or any other attraction, but , hey ho, thats production companies for you !
What did they show of Tenerife? All we saw were bars and supermarkets. You can make out it's a dump from that? But not content with criticising the island, you now decide to judge everybody who visits to be on a par with the family on the programme. What a nice man you are. Just a thought, are you the Egypt family?this is hilarious it shows what dump the place is and the people it attracts,
totally agree, surely this forum is for people who love tenerife and can give invaluble advise to others about all aspects of the island ?

I would have loved the temples and the mosque but hated the market and the food in Egypt
You didn't see anything of Tenerife apart from the inside of bars and the waterpark so it could have been anywhere. getting drunk every night and greasy fry ups every morning is not my idea of a holiday, the 16 year old when he was drunk was a sad sight and his parents should be ashamed, he was a mirror image of his dad (and thats not a good thing)

This is precisely why I didn't watch this piece of nonsense. I could have written the 'script' before it was aired. People who believe that this is what Tenerife is about have never really been there.
On my last vist (June) I drove for an hour and three quarters from Chayofa to Chamorga in the very northern tip of the island. After leaving the motorway, I drove up into the mountains passing through laurel forests with cloud spilling across the mountain ridge as I climbed. I barely saw a car for the best part of an hour as I drove along the winding mountain roads. Having arrived at Chamorga, I hiked out over the mountains to the Faro de Anaga lighthouse, I saw 2 people. The scenery was stunning on the way to my destination, the tiny, remote village of Roque Bermejo, clinging to the shoreline. In the village I saw around ten people, which included the two walkers I had seen earlier. The village with it's little harbour is only accessible by walking or by boat. It was a wonderful oasis of calm and rugged beauty. I returned by climbing 2000ft up through the Barranco de Roque Bermejo, a wonderful, lush canyon leading back to Chamorga.
This is the Tenerife I know and love and I have similar trips to this every time I visit. Programmes such as this are lazy, promoting a false image of the island. There are towns like PDLA in every major destination, you just have to make the effort to get away from them.
Just to put the record straight there is nowhere like PDLA in Egypt, unless of course you don't class Egypt as a 'major destination'.
I have lost count of the number of times we've visited this lovely island. It's certainly not a dump, the mountain drives are amazing, Santa Cruz is very interesting with lots of lovely individual shops. there are so many contrasts. THEN when the call of the bacon buttie gets louder PDLA here we come!!!!
The one thing I love about Tenerife is the fact that it has something for everyone, whatever your tastes. I love sightseeing, but I also like to have a laugh, and there is nothing better to me than spending a day up in the mountains and old villages, admiring the beauty of the place, and then coming back down to the resort in the evening and having a cracking night out
I know scenery isn't everyone's cup of tea, and the same goes for bars and clubs, sporting activities or just sitting around doing nothing - but whatever you're into, you can do it all in Tenerife. I just wish these programmes would show more of what is available.
Does anyone know what pub they were in, to make sure I never ever go there by mistake.

Couldn't have been Shakespears, it was far too lively in there.
