Hi,
we are going to the holiday village on the 17th may for two weeks and have got 1 and 9 year old boys. if anyone has been with babies can they let us know what the creche is like, can you get nappies from the village shops and is there milk suitable for babies?
There is no kettle in the rooms. You can hire one from reception for £3 a day or something extortionate! We took a little travel kettle with us.
we also took a kettle when our daughter was 10 months and powdered milk, we went again when she was 20 months and she drank their milk. you can buy nappies in the hotel shop but we did'nt try them.
Have been to the HV Costa del Sol so kinda know what to expect from Turkey. Was due to go to HV Dom. Rep but switched because of health issues at this one.
We too have booked a Jacuzzi room.
we are going to HV in 2 weeks so would appreciate any info, have already noticed reports saying there are no kettles so that is on our list to pack. I am loved by mossies so would like to hear from anybody who has used mossie bands, I am going to start using marmite (yuck) as that apparently works too. Any other suggestions most welcome as I have only been to Turkey once and I had a bad reaction to the bites. Thanks in advance
Try using Avon SOS spray. We used it in Cuba last year and never got bit. There is apparently something in it that the mozzies don't like. It is also very cheap.
Thanks, will order that tomorrow
Jetti, I used mozzie bands last year in the HV and never got bitten once! The whole family used them and my hubbie got 3 bites and the kids one or 2.
jetti, if none of those things work buy sin kov from the hotel shop as the mozzies hate it, its very cheap but does not smell very nice
Samantha where did you get your mossie bands from and Hayley when you say it doesnt smell nice, how bad is not nice. I am starting on Zirtek and Marmite today in preparation. Iwill not be a mossie feast this time
MMMMMMMM love Marmite!!
I don't even recall seeing a mossie while I was there last week of May first week of June last year.
Any more questions just ask, or read my review in the hotel review section, we are the ones who had the owners apartment and it was double the size of everyone elses rooms with 2 Jacuzzi bathrooms and a living room with a full 8 seater dining table so we also had 3 tv's!
Total fluke how we got it but not complanning!
I work at Morrisons and didnt realise we sold them, will have a look when I start work later, loved your review.
Did anyone take any of there own PS2 games to use on the PS2 in the kids den. I have just been reading the small print and it says you can only have a maximum of 2 items (games or dvds) although you can exchange them at certain times, just wondering if it would be easier just to take our own. It says in certain destinations PAL games and dvds wont work so just wondering if anyone had tried there own games before. Thanks.
jettii, sorry when i said not nice i did'nt mean it was terrible, its a smell you get used too and you'll smell it alot as alot of people use it but perhaps the mozzies arnt as bad in may! you'll have a great time anyway.... i wish i was going this year!
Hi Hayley, Im sure the smell wont be unbearable. Wish you could have seen my holiday mates face when she bought a jar of marmite today, she hates the stuff but I told her you said it works. Best laugh I had all day so thanks, The only other time Ive been to Turkey was in May and it was the first time I ever got bit and boy did I get bit, had to have a week off sick to get over it. My legs and feet were so swollen I couldnt get any shoes on so this time Im going prepared
Sorry just realisee that it was Samantha who loves marmite
we burned citronella candles on the tables around the bar at night.
we used jungle formular on the baby and she only got bit a couple of times.
we were told to take vitamin B complex 2 weeks before we went and for the time we were there as it has the same effect and makes your skin/blood not taste nice. although they dont smell nice when you take them it has got to be better than eating marmite (as personally i would rather chew my own arm!) they also do chewable multivitamins with it in for kids so they dont have to take tablets.
we were also told to take mint and tea tree shower gel as they dont like the smell of this either.

We go in July. Think I will give the vit B a try. Can't do any harm. Great if can get the kids to take it too. Assume you can buy it over the counter in any chemists?
I will be using the Avon stuff (and anything else everyone recommends) as want to avoid bites. (but will not use the Marmite - urgh)
Have heard of something you get in tescos (and other shops I am sure) that you use to give an electrical pulse into any bites you do get and it is meant to take the itch out of it .. anyone tried this?
I notice there have been a few queries on this site relating to Baby Milk and Nappies. When I went last June my two were 9 months old and 23 months old. I ended up taking enough nappies to last the two weeks (around 150!) but it was worth it as English brands are difficult to get in the village. A couple of village shops sold them but in limited sizes. I did have to use Turkish nappies the last couple of days and we suffered with a few leaks. I think (although I didn't look) that Pampers are available in the hotel but I didn't look for nappies in the hotel as most of the shop items seemed to be very expensive particularly in comparison with the local village. As for the milk I took a travel kettle and formula for my youngest. For my eldest I filled his bottles from the milk containers in the restaurant at breakfast and then stored them in the fridge in my room. The hotel bars are happy to warm up baby milk in the evenings or you can use the microwave in the restaurant. Hope this helps.
