Hi Doe
It is 2 floors high mostly there is just a couple of blocks (one joint on to reception) that i think are 3 high, think might be block 10 (thats only from reading off here i have gathered that).
I dont think you will have any problems booking interconnecting few days before, think we will prob do that and get interconnecting swim up rooms, last year they met all our request that we emailed prior to arrival.
Gemma
Its really encouraging when people rebook to go back, Makes you think you have made the right decision.

You will have a fantastic time. We are going back in May, we went last May and rebooked whilst there to go back. We loved it, so relaxing and the kids loved it. We went snorkelling just off the HV beach and it was amazing.
I have been trying to read this thread right from the begining. It certainly seems to have been a rocky ride for some people. I got up to about page 50 and was almost ready to cancel what with storys of sickness and Russians and sunbed fights. But I guess they may have been either teething problems or height of the season problems.
Some of it wasn't a shock to me though as I have been to Sharm twice before so I know that pools afe often cold in April. Each time I have worried about sickness and all for of us have been OK but I have never been AI before the other two times I went Bed and Breakfast and ate out all the time either in Namma Bay or in my hotels paying restaurants where the food was always cooked fresh, so I am still a bit worried about food. Well not the food as such (we aren't fussy eaters and eat anything lol) but sickness.

When we went in May the 4 of us didn't have any sickness problems. But we did take acidophillous tablets 2 weeks before we went and whilst there. We also didn't fill up our water bottles from the main water butt like a lot of people did. I think if your sensible you will be fine.
Think I will email Ramy and request interconnecting rooms on the first floor, in block 7 above the swim up rooms. Really want to be somewhere quite and don't want to be on the ground floor anywhere. Certainly dont want to hear the Laguna Vistas (nearly booked there) disco booming out.
I've been a bit dozy and realise I haven't got a brochure , so I cant even look at a plan of the layout.
Reading through I do think that I may have made a boo boo as my kids are 14 and 16 and this is really a hotel aimed at folks with kids under 12, but too late now as all booked lol.
Hopefully my daughter can complete her scuba diving course while we are there and it is only a week. I'm not one for trecking off to Cairo/Luxor as to me it's too much effort on a weeks beach holiday. I would rather go and stay there at some point to see the sights in a more leisurely manner.
If it really isn't our cup of tea we can just use it as a base although obviously that rather defeats the object of booking an AI holiday village.
Thanks for replying to my posts. I'm still looking forward to it.

PSML. You are so right Lyn. Why do I do all this reading after I have booked ?
I've always wanted to try AI in Sharm either Holiday Village or HSB now I've booked it so I got my wish. Think I better go on Rambling so as not to take this off-topic.

Hi Doe,
I have booked this hotel for hubby & me for 2 weeks in april, just us, no kids, we have booked a swim up room but will wander to the main pool to watch the entertainment going on in that pool.
I'm a bit aprehensive too, reading some of the topic, it's our 1st time, going to just chill out & relax hopefully!!
Have a great time.
Deb.
I am sure it will be fine. I always have these kind of wobbles the week after I book. I suppose it's because of finally committing to somewhere. I have read a lot of this thread and I am sure other adult only couples have booked the Holiday Village as well and seem to have enjoyed themselves.
I went to Sharm in April 2006 and 2007, but didn't make it there last year and kind of missed the place hence booking for 2009. Ive got a daughter stressed out by sitting 10 GCSE's in May and thought it would make a nice break for her. Although the books will be coming too.

We like to watch the kids playing in the water, ours are grown up now & we have grandchildren, but also like the fact that we can get away from them too
I'm sure we'll all have a lovely time & in many ways I am looking forward to it, just a little apprehensive as it's so different to our usual holiday.
This forum has been a godsend, as so many people have given their advice.
6 weeks & 5 days.....not that I'm counting
Deb.
That must mean you go towards the end of April, which I think will be a great time to be there. The weather will be warming up nicely, but you wont get the stiffling heat of June, July and August.
A lot of the famils will be gone as I think school holidays start about 6th April, so unless folk have kept kids out of school you should get a good mix of people. The hotel probably wont be 100% full which is really when many of hotels struggle. You will probably have the best of both worlds with enough people to give the hotel a good atmosphere, without having to queue for AI drinks or fight your way to the buffet. It should be great.
Jaytrip who is a regular poster on here went with her husband, slightly out of season and she really liked it there.

Has anyone got a plan / map of the HVRS which they could scan and post online?
Yes, we are flying out on 20th april for 2 lovely relaxing weeks - doing nothing I hope!!
I am hoping it will be hot, also the evenings, nothing better than sitting outside in the evenings with a nice drop of alcohol......
I would also like a plan of the layout if anyone does have one.
You know the more I talk about it, the more I am looking forward to it
When are you going Doe?
Deb.
Its a fabulous hotel and when we were there we made friends with a young couple who we were sat next to on the plane and 3 families with children whose ages ranged from 2 years to teenagers,as well as retired couples.
The grounds are so spacious that it never felt overcrowded. We spent a lot of time on the beach as the sunbeds there were great.I had a double one that was suspended on ropes from each corner complete with a thatched roof!
My hubby had an ordinary one nearby as I didnt think it would take both our weights!
The double sunbeds are on the beach and on what looks like a dessert island!
There are many photos on Trip advisor and there is a photo of the layout of the hotel somewhere.
I think the illnesses were during the height of season when the hotel was full and several people stated they thought the swimming pool was the cause of their illness!Of course it couldnt be lying out in the hot sun all day drinking alcohol, could it?
I never heard of anyone complaining of illness when I was there and just taking the sensible precautions should suffice.
I cleaned my teeth with tap water and ate salads and was fine.I hate cold drinks anyway so drank tea and coffee along with sprite and Cola during the day as drinking large amounts of mineral water can cause an upset stomach.
I envy you all who are going soon and I will have to wait until November to go back.
I have the brochure here with the map, hubby will see if he can scan it in so I can post on here.
Deb
was browsing & found this http://www.holidaywizard.co.uk/seeinsidebrochure/First-Choice_Holiday-Village-Summer-2009-3rd-edition/Egypt-/Holiday-Village-Red-Sea-/page_52
it is the map I have in my brochure.
Hope this helps.
Deb.
The swim up rooms are to the right of the quiet pool.
Block 7 is in the right place and its the one with the swim up rooms nearest to the beach.
I think this is the best block as it faces the gardens and gets the sun all day.
We were in block 6 which is the smallest block next to the Al a carte restaurants.
There is a good image on Google earth.
We are returning to the HV again in May. We have requested the block by the themed resturants which from previous posts, i believe is block 6. What is the sun like here? The room we were in last year had shade on the balcony all afternoon!
Thanks
Yes block 6 does have shade in the afternoon but it is a relief in some ways as you can sit out there comfortably. We had the sun first thing on a morning and it was scorching, this was November/December
