Hi Jamico, our flight was showing two movies and various programs, like simpsons, top gear and Hannah Montana. The time soon passes.

Im thinking of switching even though FC want £175 to do so, we dont go until next year but hearing about the amount of sickness even if its only for a few days isnt what I want on holiday, we are paying £3225 for one week, I dont want to spend that one week stuck to a loo. I have heard mixed reports on Egypt but nearly everyone I speak to comments about getting ill, one of the girls at work has only just come back to work after getting ill out there and then needing 2 weeks off of work after to recover. I also have kids allergic to penicillyn and dont want to be in a position where I am running around on my holiday trying to find medicaiton to make them ok again, its not what you go on holiday for.

Hi Katiesmum,
We didn't see any mozzies but heard from one couple who had seen some in their room. We did pick up a couple of bites one night, when eating down on the beach but other than that, not too much of an issue.

Hi Shandygirl,

My family and I are staying at the Premier Inn at Gatwick the night before we flight to egypt too! I havent actually stayed it this particular Premier Inn, but have stayed in, at least 3 others around the UK, and all have been up to very good standard. It was the 1st place we looked to book when we knew we needed an airport hotel, as its value for money. The restaurant next door will be a Brewers Fayre, which does FAB food at fair prices. We always have the "all in Breakfasts" where you pay about £7 per adult, eat as much as you like, and the kids can eat free (as much as they like too!) Which is a great deal, and something we look forward to on the morning of our flight!! (gannets i know!) Hope this info helps!! :)

sorry to go :offtop !!

Hi patrickfinn,

Not long now

Katie takes pens (biro type pens) and pencils, last year she had her gel pens taken off her at Manchester! :que

Think they will be drop down tv`s unless we are lucky enough to get one of the big planes (we got one last year as a last resort as there was some kind of problem with our original plane) it was wonderful, so I suppose we can live in hope.

Can`t help on the earphones as we have our own and take them with us, I`m sure though come to think of it about £2.50 comes to mind! but I am sure somone who has recently come back will be able to let you know.

Are you packed yet?? we`ve got stuff ready but nothing in cases yet.

Roll on Thursday :sun2 :sun :fly :yipee

Hi Shandygirlx,
Not sure you will be able to upgrade, unless there is space at the hotel, we were told when we bookd that we couldn't have 4 in a swim up room but have also seen posts stating that this has happened. I would email the hotel direct and ask them.

The standard room doesn't have tea and coffee making facilities, where as the select rooms do, plus dressing gowns etc. Again, worth an email to the hotel to see how much, as we didn't bother when we went.

We booked seats together, with First Choice prior to flying, it's worthwhile, just in case the flight is full and you don't arrive early enough at the airport to guarantee sitting together.

Hi Patrick, Earphones were £2.50 I believe, we also took ones from a previous flight.

Enjoy your holiday, wish we were going back again soon :(

Will be good to hear your views when you get back.

Cheers

Hi Pat,

We are from `sunny Southport` except it looks like rain again.. so not living upto its reputation. Takes about 50`ish mins to Manchester Airport.

Think we should all put a yellow daffodil behind our ear then we can spot each other.

Katie has a daffy duck shoulder bag and very long hair, mine is short and spikey, Phil`s is very short he will be the one carrying all the bags :rofl

Off to do some packing now.

Just a tip for anyone travelling with children under 12. There is no need to pay out for pre-bookable seating as the child must be sat with a travelling adult under the same booking.

Each year First Choice telephone us to try and get us to pre-book our seats, however they must sit children and adults together (they have confirmed this to me), if you are in a party of 4 for example you may have 2 and 2 together as opposed to all 4 but if you are happy with this then you can save yourselves some pounds. If you check-in early enough you shouldn't have any problems with sitting together, this isn't something they advertise as it would obviously lose them money, however these are the air travel rules. ;)

Any questions please ask.
