To those waiting for visas - don't panic, ours were re-directed the day after sending them to Birmingham and still took 2 weeks to process with nothing showing up on VFS and this is supposed to be a steady time for them ?

ok we will wait till 16th then start to panic, we are probably in a little tray in the corner of the office, all forlorn and forgotton about

we wont be like that when they arrive back though!! we will have a welcome home party for the passports and their new little visa addittions !! j

Why do some people have no bother at all,someone I know sent their's off 3rd Feb & got them back TODAY !!!!Dont know why but I seem to have problems every year.

If all is okay, expect them back to you Tuesday morning (Monday if your lucky).

But until the tracking application says "OK, come and collect" - I'm probably going to continue worrying....

Worries now over - tracing website told me "OK Come and get it" so I went to Edinburgh today and collected my visa.
My 12 month visa!!
It took, in total, 10 days, 8 working days, which is what they promised.

Apparently the information they verbally gave me last year was correct.
If one has had six, 6 month visas previous years, and there are no unusual factors about employment or any other issues, then they have the discretion to allow you to apply for, (pay for), and get, a 12 month visa.
NOT guaranteed, it's discretionary.
Not sure if this is the same policy for all Indian embassies/consulates - but it worked for me.
Means I can go off to Goa for my annual visit in a few weeks time (and, while there, I'm going to Hampi for the second time!),
AND maybe consider flying out to see what other parts of India are like during our summer months,
AND maybe plan a trip back to Kerala in December this year.

I love India, and I'm a very happy chappy!

Only advice I can give to other visa worryers - read the rules - at least three times, and meet them all.
Queries? Ask the folks here on HT.
AND check your application three times - at least - before you submit it,
AND make sure your photos match the new rules completely.
And allow enough time for processing.

AND I'm prepared to bet that in February 2012 when I will probably be applying for my next visa,
I'll still worry as I do every year.

Hello Danny here Dees pain in the neck.Can anybody tell me what time we have to be at Manchester airport before we fly.I do like a pint before I set off. equlised

but you need to be at the airport a minimum of 2 hrs before your flight is due to depart
