Soon be time to start the annual visa task again, as a matter of interest, can anyone tell me the reason for India insisting on 2"x2" photos ? ( apart for making it as difficult as possible). Surely if the standard size is good enough for the majority of countries, what is the special reason in Indias case for taking this approach? The only photographer near our home closed recently, so it looks like it'll be another hurdle to cross getting the photos this year.
Gramps
The reason for the new photo's is that the HCI are now using the same equipment as the US, which require the new size photo's.Also your picture is now printed on the actual visa.
How will that work when asked for two address for the Visa, when we dont know where we will be staying.do we put down a hotel we have stayed at before.
Confused??
This is why we gave up and booked an appointment with a local photographer and went to his studio and had them done properly - he was Indian and as soon as walked in said - Indian visa photos - making my living this year!!! £10 for 2 photos per person.
Bpool - we are staying in friends house so don't have an address - put anything like Osbourne or wherever you have stayed before - there is nothing to be bothered about - they don't give a """"" what you put on there as long as you put something.
just received my first 1 year visa....
Its the first year also that i have had my photo on it...
(Quick tip...commen sence really....when you get your 2"x2" photos...copy and print off onto photo paper so you have next years photos at no extra cost.... )
Bring on October......
Still nervously waiting for mine to appear on the tracking website. I fly in 11 days 4 of which are a weekend.. I feel sick with worry that my passport wont be back.. STUPID STUPID 15 day validity on transit visa's! If it doesn't come in time, I'll have to re arrange 3 flights 2 hotels and my kickboxing in Thailand. One flight alone want £150 to fly 5 days later
Does anyone know where we can get the visa photo's done locally, we live in bexleyheath in kent?
Many Thanks Ally x
My other half has downloaded an application where we can process our own visa photographs. I must admit I am worried that the visa people will tell instantly that the photos are a diy job and will reject them. Has anyone taken their own photographs and had them accepted without any questions being asked? I am a bit of a coward and am veering towards paying £10 for two photographs in Jessops.
Max Spielmann do them for £9-50 for 6.
Unfortunately, there is no Max Spielman shop in my part of the world.
Got ours done at timpsons (shoe repairers) in Liverpool £10 for 2, normal passport photos are £6 for 6 printed on the same size paper! they have a chart which gives the requirements for passport and visa photos for every country in the world, Indian passports applications need 45mmx35mm whilst visas need 51mmx51mm why the difference
I did take extreme care when taking the photos though to ensure I followed the required guidelines.
only cost about 70rps. for 6. we had ours done in calangute.
Never thought of having them done in Goa......
Paid £10 for 2 in rip-off Britain...(but have copied them onto photo paper.....no need to pay again...until they decied to change the size again.....)
Thats why they charge so much knowing you will copy them and not go back again
So i have done the right thing then....
Ok, so you get 6 pics from the photo shop, has anyone sent in the same pic again, or are they insisting on a new photo every year as your features may change (no i'm not having a facelift !) ? We have in the past sent the same pic, but with these now showing in your passport are they going to reject applications ?
Beard/No beard,Blonde hair/brunette etc etc. Think i would play safe and send new photo's each time...they don't need much of a reason to return visa applications.
Just printed off a sample copy of the visa application form,Seems straight forward enough, but can anyone tell me what the section (at top of 2nd page)after section E but before F means? It just says "Required Detail of" Then a space for filling in the details(What details!!!) and then "Purpose of visit"for which obviously I put holiday. Feel sure that someone is going to give me an answer and i am going to think to myself..... I should have thought of that!!
