cost another batch of special delivery charges and a quick edit of a word doc but turned around in less than 10 days.
They sent my whole application back (family of four) because the kids' consent letter was not addressed to High commision of India, London. I typed HCI, London. pedantic.cost another batch of special delivery charges and a quick edit of a word doc but turned around in less than 10 days.
I agree that's pretty pedantic.
I know they were rejecting employer letters that were addressed to "To whom it may concern' but your experience seems a bit excessive..
Going to apply for my visa at the Jain Centre in Manchester for holiday in March, is it now possible to pay for my visa with cash, cheque or card or is it still Postal Orders only. If it is only payment by Postal Order can anyone please tell me the full cost of the visa including postage (Special Delivery) so I can take the correct value Postal Orders with my application. Thanks, Lenny
you will still need to do the application on-line so you can pay by credit card at the end of the process.
I would print off your payment receipt and take it with you to prove you have paid.
You can pay at the Centre by postal order but when you buy it at the Post Office they will charge you an additional 12.5%.
You can't pay by cheque at the VFS centre but I'm not sure about cash.

Especially after as the subject matter is 'do you consent to your kids travelling to india'.
well obviously... my wife and I have both signed the letter and i have included passports, birth certs and copies of ours.
hey ho we are done, roll on feb 5th.
you can pay by cash
When we went to the Manchester application centre in November 2011 they accepted cards (no surcharge for credit cards either) but NOT cash.
i paid cash at the london office.did nt realise it would be different in other places sorry .

they may include an a4 doc detailing what they need
told to change it to 6mths, we could only have a 12mth if we were on a World tour and
would have to give the full itinery as proof,we also wanted to return later in the year, told
you will have to apply again just a rip off for extra money
annx
Still problems on the VFS site, and using the other site it links you to is getting me no further.. another frustrating time..
Oh i wish i would have read these posts before I tried, I just thought it would be easier to do it this way to save applying again in the summer.
so do you mean i will have to make a completely seperate application and loose the money it has already cost me ? That means in toltal a 6month visa will cost me in excess of £100 !
I don,t think you will have to pay again but you won,t get a refund of the £20 that you
sent for the extra 6mths.we were lucky not to have paid on line the full amount,
so only paid for the 6mth one.while at the Cardiff centre.
hope you get sorted, they should state on the web site details of applying for the 12mth
annx
thats better than loosing it all and having to pay again.
Oh I hope it will be sorted both my friends have had theirs processed, they only applied for 6 months
Good luck on the vfs website Spike it took me five days to complete the form and print it out I was panicking a bit because we go on 4th Feb
when I read all the stories about peoples visas this year Im so so happy we got ours from Dublin this time .and we got it on the same day ..Colleen
I have heared from someone that it depends on if youve visited India/Goa more than 6 times
Sent for ours 12 month visas in September (VFS)...and got them back in 5 days along with 12 month visas....no problem.

That's good news for you, Noggin.
It seems like they may interpret the rules differently at different centres.
I know UKBill got a 12 month one from Edinburgh but aaraond was rejected for a 12 month one at Cardiff (she also had been more than 6 times, although I believe her stamps were in an old passport) but was told 12 month visas were only if you were going on a world tour and you had to provide an itinerary.
Justine Caddick's application for a 12 month was retuened asking for an itinerary (although I'm not sure if she has more than 6 visas).
I think people would be more comfortable with VFS/HCI if they applied the rules consistently across the board.
I've read about some people having their applications returned as they'd not sent the Declaration form in, some people didn't send the form and got their visas OK.
