Dont think ive ever had a problem with Indian Visa application/collection/delivery. I really think it depends where you live and how it works in your area.
This time round we got a text update every few days, I thought that was very good and our visas are now safely in our possession
Applications done - been a nightmare, VFS still got probs so you get transfered to Indian website, which seems to stall or crash a lot. Printing off took an hour, but all done and ready to post.

I would like to have an appointment for tomorrow 25jan 2012 anytime (as 26 jan offices will be closed), and i am in a rush for the visa.
Can somebody advice how to make appointment, i could not find any link for it.....
or should i just go to manchester office directly and submit it there.
The Indian mission office i selected in my online application was Birmingham.
Or do i need to come to Birmingham to submit the application and fee.
I have wrote a letter stating that the only reason I applied for a 12 month visa was because I will be going for a 2 week holiday in march and then again in November and it would save me having to apply twice.
I sent off my application with the letter (plus a postal order for £7.40 to cover costs of returning my application which they had to pay) !
I received an e-mail last night stating that my application has been dispatched to the high commision of India and I will be informed when it has been returned for collection/delivery
I have no idea if this means it has been agreed or not so still a waiting game for me
And also I have more than 6 previous visa's but they are all in an old passport and my new one only has one in

Just spent all morning completing two visa applications and have now realised that the passport photos I have ready are the wrong size!!!! Can someone please tell me where I can get 2" x 2" photos, do the normal booths do them?? This will mean another trip into town, whyd o tghey make it so hard?
Yes it's a pain. Most photo-me booths do them. They're the size for India, Pakistan and the US. We went to the local Asda as their photo booth machine did them. About £5 for 4 photos.
Try your post office for photos, the one I used didn't mention anything on the booth about 2"x2" until you go through the menu on the screen. The assistant told me they don't take that size - so check the screen for details ! £7 for 4 pics.
took visa applications through to Edinburgh on Monday 16th January and recieved them back by post on Wednesday 25th. 7 working days turnaround which i thught was quite good. All set now and counting down the days. 7 weeks from now i will be in the air having a few beers with the wife and mr and mrs Spike
PS how many sick bags allocated per seat..
PPS get some plans together for a day out looking at the local heritage/historic buildings and the history of Goa (+ the bars )
did i mention i was club champ ! erm i will let you sort out our bar crawl erm 'cough cough' cultural tour of Panaji. Im happy too tag along with you being the tour guide. (pointing out the bars)
Visas are back !!! Very quick service this year, despite VFS website problems - big countdown now..
Must apply for ours soon. We still haven't decided on dates but it looks like it will be April.
What a pity we'll miss those bowling photos Alan. That's such a shame. They sound so interesting
Don't drink all the beers at Ganeshs, leave some for us when we come.
Gail
Any ideas?
Also aren't you meant to sign the back of one of the photos? I can't seem to find any reference to that now either?
Fritz
I sellotaped our photos to the form(double tape over and put on reverse of photo..do not cover front for obvious reasons!!!) and also signed the back of all photos just to be on the safe side.Visas were back in 8 days.Sadly our holiday is all done and dusted now, looking for January 2013 now. Paula
Thanks Paula, much appreciated
Just come back from Jain center in Manchester for visa application and had to re complete them from scratch as I entered London on top of first page as main visa center and not Birmingham which is the only office Jain community center have dealings with.
Fortunately there was an internet cafe 2 minutes away so we re completed and printed out there and then resubmitted.
Advises a turn around time of 5 days.
None else there when we arrived.
Place completely empty
Cost for 2 visas with secure post £100.40
Happy holidays

Hi guys, so so sorry for not getting back to you all sooner been really busy. Just to let you all know that I received my passport back about 2 days after my last post and the 12 month visa was there yeah .... So probably if I would have sent it first with a letter then there would have been no problem at all. Getting excited now for my Hols march 15th
Just read this on the VSF site.
A maximum of one processed passport shall be returned in one envelope.
This is different from last year.
So can I send our two passports to them in one envelope with two return envelopes inside or do I need to send them in two separate envelopes as well?
Also has anyone used the same photos from the year before.
We still have them on the computer and could print them off but I'm worried they may not like that.
Thanks
Gail
