Hi Colleen
glad you got your visas - Dublin was the right choice. :tup

I don't think you can add another application anymore, we couldn't find out how to do it anyway.

We had to pay separately too, in previous years we've been able to pay together.

thanks, thought it was my stupidity! When you get your passport back with the visa i always think, that wasn't too badand with such a quick return, but i know come next year i will still be in a panic imagining i,ve done somthing wrong in the application, but maybe this is all part of the buildup to the enjoyment when we get there :D
Good luck to all who have yet to apply for visas, and thanks for all the advice.

Hi all
I have been doing my visa application online for a few years now and only had a few slight problems, but this time I am really finding it difficult as the vfs website keeps crashing and not allowing me to continue :yikes

Has anybody else had the same problem as me with this or is it just me?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated before i end up with no hair !!!!

Justine. I've been at it all day with no success. The VFS form was playing up and they are now re-directing you to the Indian Gov form, which will let you fill one or if you're lucky, two pages in before refusing to load the next. My problem seems to be that I am not married but even selecting that option the 'required' fields of spouses name etc don't disappear (or allow me to enter NA).
I have so far failed to load page three of the inane and irrelevant questions.

It's even more frustrating that we know that in most cases it is just a sc am to relieve foreigners of a little more cash.

I can only suggest trying again tomorrow. BTW - don't bother trying with IE8 as they insist as that was even slower and simply crashed when submitting a page.

thanks for the reply
I have just managed to complete the application forms finally :clap I decided to wait till late in the evening as i was hoping the reason for the crashing was that it was busy. Thankfully it paid off.

Now to print it all off and get it sent off and the start the dreaded waiting game

Decided to visit the Visa surgery in Glasgow yesterday. We dont go until March but I may need my passport in February so thought it best to get my Visa applications in just now.
Drove round for ages looking for a parking space and then got oen almost outside the door :) time in my car said 10.38am. Headed up the two floors to the Visa surgery, no queue whatsoever, back in my car at 10.50am
Happy days, I am well pleased with that. Lovely Indian girl that I saw says turnaround is about 7-8 days :D

Been trying for 2 days to print that form off its all filled in so my husband popped to the visa place today to see if he could get a paper form, no they said you have to wait until after 2pm when the technical issues are resolved. Well its 6:30 and still cant print it off. Mind you they said after 2pm they didnt say which day :que

Anyone know the answer to this ? My other half went to the post office today to obtain her snap shots (£7 for 4) and was talking to the assistant who is Indian and visits Goa quite often. She stated that if you visit the Birmingham office in person for your visa you can ask for a 5 year one, myself I don't believe that this is possible, but has anyone been granted one or tried and refused ?
Due to send for ours soon, and it's a bit late for getting to Brum' so it's the usual for us this year.

not heard about that but if you look on the previous page, I posted a quote from UKBill who got a 1 year visa from Edinburgh as he had 6 previous Indian visas.

TBH, it sounds very unlikley to me.

I think this is the answer:

People of Indian Origin (PIO) can get 5 year visas.

Managed to get our visa applications processed quite quickly. One for me, British Citizen, the wife who is an EU citizen and the father-in-law who is eu citizen but without the 2 year residence proof. Did the forms on line and visited the Friday before Christmas. Had a piece of paper missing, silly me, so the lady said "come back with the form, don't queue, just see me and I'll do it for you straight away", which was nice. Managed to get home and back again before the 4.30pm shut off and had my Visa done by the 27th of December and both the others by the 1st which was quite impressive seeing it was over the Christmas period. Off on the 21t with the father-in-law who has never been outside Europe and doesn't speak a word of English which should be fun but seeing there's loads of Russians there he should be able to talk to them.

The online process was a bit tedious and apparently they archive online forms which haven't been actioned at the VFS centre after a couple of weeks, so it takes a few minutes for them to retrieve them.

All in all, a fairly OK process and much better than queuing outside the Indian High Commission. Am def going to look at getting a PIO card though.

Yes, have had issues. Found that trying in the evening is better. That website has it's ups and downs.
