SDE = Special Delivery Envelope - if you are sending your application via Royal Mail and having it returned by the same method.

It allows you to check (via RM's website) whether your application has been delivered and you can then check the return progress once the VFS website says it has been handed to RM.

Hi the reason i stated Leicestershire is because they do it all for you and you just pick it up 10 days later from the shop obviously if no where near Leicester then it wont be any good but some of the prices including postal orders and registered envelopes are expensive
infact some are out right extortion

As you say, if you're close to this place it might be worth thinking about.

The cost of a visa plus VFS admin fee is £38.86 anyway so it's comparable to what they're charging.
2 visa applications sent together via RM would cost an additional £9.90 (for those people who haven't the time or are too far away to make personal visits), so I don't think it's too bad a price - especially if you don't want to trust your passport to the post.

And I guess for those who DO make personal visits, the cost of the time and transport should be factored into the cost - unless you happen to live next door to one of the centres.

Hi All , Yes we have used agent in Leicester for the last 4 years for visas .. It is different one but still same Rd, never any probelms . forms checked straight away while you wait so you know they are ok, saves all the hassle of hit or miss online probelms and it goes to Birm direct with s/van. Well worth the little extra which as you say goes to charity, and anything you are not sure of on form they tell you what to fill in ,

hi sorry if this is really lazy but i've gone back loads of pages and given up, please can you tell me how you are applying for your visas now? didn't go this year and i know it has now changed from when we went in 2008 and you dont apply direct to the indian embassy any more. my friend has applied for theirs through visa genie and it cost £103 plus for 2 visas. has it gone up this much? i'm sure when we got ours last year, even with 2 special delivery envelopes it cost about £80 for 2. we are planning to go 23rd jan and want to send off for them now. sorry to be a pain!
thanks

No probs, bushbaby

Here:
http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/

You can now do your application on-line and pay on-line if you wish.
You then print out your application forms, sign & date them & send with photos & passports to VFS in Hayes.

They'll need to go by secure post, we used RM Special Delivery and the same for return.

Cost is still £30.00 per person with an admin fee of £8.86 per person.
Special Delivery envelopes cost £4.95.

So for 2 applications it'll cost you £77.72 plus £4.95 x 2, total £87.62.

There's also options to hand applications into centres.
Some of these you can go back in a few days and collect your documents, other centres will only allow handing in and will return by secure post.
It's all on the VFS website.

All the Visa problems seem to be well and truly sorted out this year (and last). We hand delivered ours and went back to the Visa office to collect them. They were completed within 3 days, very good service I think.

I am about to complete two online visa applications and already the palpitations have started. I feel a bout of temper tantrums and tears coming on!

I know exactly what you mean.
I had to go lay down in a darkened room after I'd finished my applications. :rofl

If it's at all posssible, I'd get your OH to sit next to you and check what you type in, then when you've printed off your applications, check through again.
We noticed that we'd missed off the 'country' in one of the boxes on one of our applications,so we retrieved it, amended it and printed again.

Good luck
