It took us about an hour when we were there in February but it was very early in the morning. There is a shuttle bus between terminals and we weren't on it long before it set off but if you were the first on you may be sat there a while. The distance between terminals is pretty close about 15-20 mins. I don't know if you could do the transfer by taxi or not as we have only done this the once so far but I don't see why you couldn't. Taxis are pretty cheap, much cheaper than Goa.

Took us over 2 hours when B.A. lost our lugage a couple of years ago but we have found normally the transfer time to be as KatieP says. The transfer buses leave on a regular basis and as they travel within the airport perimeter don't get held up by traffic as the taxis from outside the terminal do and they are free!

allow 3 hours at the very least between flights to be on the safe side.

I agree you need to allow a few hours at least especially when your first flight might be late. I have to say, normally the domestic flight I've been on are quite often late so it might work in your favour as well. The transfer itself is quite good, It's only 5 mins away on the bus, but you might have to wait 20 to 30 minutes for the bus to do a round trip (unloading loading etc) The airport is much improved so things are getting easier although their baggage collection isn't the best in the world...

The easiest way to do this is to fly Jet from Heathrow to Mumbai and down to Goa. We have been fast tracked by them when we arrived late in Mumbai and they took us straight past the hoards of people to their desk and onto the plane. They do not want to have to put you up in a hotel if you miss their last flight to Goa so do all they can to make sure you catch your plane.

Is there a great distance between the internal terminal and the international one. We fly from from Goa to Mumbai then change plane to fly to Abu Dhabi - do we need run. We also have to change in abu dhabi onto manchester. we have about 2 hours to 2 and half hours between. Do I start "training" now or have I left it too late.

If you plan to run Yes start training....

There is a free bus between terminals but the que for this can vary depending on times, If it is busy you can get a taxi between the 2 terminals, it will not break the bank.

The consensus generally is 2 hours is tight, 3 hours better, the luggage can take a while to appear.

I agree with that.. 2 hours is tight!! twice we have missed our connection when we have had only 2 hours, once hooking up with jet or Indian air (cant remember) from Virgin and the other BA and then Jet, i think 3 hours is essential... we were i good time last year to check in with jet but were told our flights had been given away !! :yikes so bad but it happens, it ended up a real hassle

If you decide to go by taxi get a pre paid taxi from inside the airport. Its a longer route by taxi as the taxi has to go on the main roads where as the shuttle bus stays within the airport.

Just found out our internal flight lands at 17.40 and our onward flight leaves at 21.30 so perhaps we will be OK.

Jet & Kingfisher are joining up to cut fuel costs. Will prices go up with less competition?

Hi,

We are flying LHR-BOM-GOA all with Jet. We have a 3 hour turn around between flights at Mumbai which should be enough time I hope (our first time schedule). Do we still have to pick up our luggage at Mumbai for our onward travel down to Goa or do Jet handle this.

Thanks

You can check in through to Goa. 3 hours is fine. We found the transfer from international to domestic quite quick but we were lucky I think.

Just booked my Bombay flight with Virgin For £349 return. Quite surprised because is cost £500 last year and £430 the year before.
