all i can say, is it never happened to me.
BOB
But Chilly you were outside having a smoke if I remember rightly, and missed your flight
chilly
It happened to our friends when they came for our wedding last year when they landed in Goa, they did not know what to do, a policeman gave them dollars and asked for two bottles of Tia Maria, they did get them and the policeman didn't ask for his change. They were worried though, we thought we had told them about everything that would happen when they landed but not this as it had never happened to us.
never never never ever buy anything for the policeman/custom officials/or any strangers , whether he/she pays for the bottles or not.
politely (policemen are egoistic!!!!) say sorry.
i have never been asked that.
Have been looking at flights to Goa and will probably go down with goair and back with jetlite at they leave Goa at 1900.
Each flight is about £40.
hi all . flying in to mumbai 10 dec would anyone know of any rest areas we have 5 hour wait for our flight down to goa we had a look last time we were there but could not find them .toe
toe there is a restaurant/bar upstairs in the domestic airport but its very expensive. I never seen a room or where you can relax.
That happened to me last December! I was in the gents toilets and two police officers came in and asked me to buy two bottlles of black label whisky, I tried to talk my way out of it but they were insisting that i bought the whisky for them. My girlfriend was waiting for me outside, i was in there 15 minutes at least. I was obviously a bit worried, they were both armed and i thought they could easily plant something on me, if i refused to buy it for them. I eventually agreed to buy it from the duty free then meet them outside, Big mistake, the police near the exit had us for about 15 minutes, searching my girlfriends bags and saying we were lying about the whisky. We eventually get out the two police blokes pull up on a scooter(in civilian clothes) take the whisky and gave me the money. Absolute nightmare, i thought i was the unlucky one because i'd never heard of that trick before. My tip, stay with the crowd!
We are going to an Indian friends wedding, and he has said that flights are about £30. So £110 is quite abit more.
Does anyone have a contacts in Goa that I could try.
Many Thanks
Mazzy
Kingfisher is cheaper than 110 if you are Indian.
Kingfisher prices should come down at the end of November, cutting fuel surcharge.
Do you know how long it takes by train? and approx how much that costs?
I vaguely remember someone saying about 10 hours, but we are planning on leaving the children with my Mum and her friend, so don't really want to be away too long.
Does anyone have any idea how much approx a flight from Goa to Mumbai will cost, I have priced it up over here, with Kingfisher and it is coming up at about £110.
Internal flights anywhere in India, with Jet or Kingfisher are = 15,000 Air France/KLM air miles.
It's a bargain - 'cos internal flights in Europe are 20,000 miles.
depending on the class I think it is from about £10 each way.
A lot cheaper and quite interesting.
Is there a duty free shop in the airport (departures?)? Is there much money to be saved on perfume, booze & cigs?
Cheers!
Ciggies expect to pay £6 - £8 per carton
Spirits not much cheaper than you can now pick up in UK supermarkets, so not worth the hassle of carrying them around.
Honey Bee Brandy that all the Goa lovers rave about can not be bought at the airport - get it in the resort at £1 a bottle and put it in your suitcase - lovely stufff.
Also don't forget your allowance you are not tavelling back from a EU country, customs have pulled a lot of people over the last few years - so it's your own risk how much you want to take home.
Spike.
I hope no one is expecting a Gatwick style shopping experience at Dabolim!
Cheers Spike!
I think that if I were stopping off in Bahrain on the way back, I wouldn't bother buying any duty free at Dabolim as I would worry that it may be taken off of me at Bahrain.
Also Sydney, IMO the shopping at Bahrain is much better than that at Dabolim.
