as I previously said I did not click 'book'

also, as everyone agrees, its unethical to advertise a final amount and then once they have your card details charge a higher amount to your card - as many many people have experienced

totally unethical way to operate. no wonder they get such a slating on all the forums

Not wishing to be pedantic but you have to click the 'book' button to go further on to the added extras. It might be slightly dubious to put the added extras on after booking but it clearly states on that page what is included and there is no mention of meals or hold baggage, neither of which are ususally included in the main price on seat only bookings these days (unfortunately).

i wasnt booking a seat only - I was looking to book a complete holiday.

and it clearly stated no such thing on the page - and as verified by my bank - i did not click the 'book' button

find this whole thing frustrating and upsetting enough without having to justify myself to someone who has not sympathy for hard working, law abiding people who get ripped off

do we have another OTB mole on here?!

Well I see the sympathisers on here will have no qualms in booking there holidays with OTB then - let them carry on and wait for them to come screaming on here when things go wrong...but no..that won't be the case will it because in reality they won't touch OTB with a barge pole....

With respect to all who have posted I think some people are misunderstanding what HT and this section is for.

We are not a forum whose aim is to attack and besmirch the names of the various TOs/Agents. We are here for people to post details of their complaint and seek help/assistance in resolving them.

Members post with the intention of assisting those with a problem. It seems that because we are not giving the answers that someone wants that they are free to call into question our motives. Suggesting we are moles for OTB is unfair besides being incorrect.

Some of the comments are in direct contravention of the terms and conditions of HT.

Perhaps those with a problem should step back and think what they are saying. You are legally responsible when you say that a company is "ripping someone off" - that may be your opinion, but when you post such comments you need to be sure you can prove it in a court of law.

thanks for your support Gaz. some people on here have been a great help and at least I feel like I am getting some support - if not from OTB.

if posting my complaint on here (holiday complaints section) at least warns a few people to avoid unethical on-line travel companies it was worth me sharing my problem

I think it has already been said here but I will repeat it just in case. This forum is for members to seek help for a problem or problems they may have had not a soap box for people to holler from.

Kelly has stated her case, OTB has responded on this forum. Kelly works for a lawyer and can take things further if she feels the need.

End of.

We will not tolerate posts that constantly bash OTB or our members. We are here to help people.

Any further posts which aren't constructive will be removed.

Thanks for your post Sarah - very well put.

Can I just say posting on HT has already been a help to me and I appreciate the positive comments and help that most people have given, and that any further advice or support will be very gratefully received.

HT is a very good and useful service. Big thumbs up for HT!

Gazz. No I probably wouldn't book through OTB anymore than I would book through any company if I was holidaying in Europe. I can't see the point of using a 'middle man' when it's so much easier to book it yourself.

We are all grown ups and I just think it's time some people accepted some responsibility for their own actions.

With due respect it is also noted that not every single person who has booked a holiday with OTB has had problems.

OTB are a massive operator and they have problems that are just the same as all the big guys in the travel industry, none of them are foolproof.

I have booked with OTB in the past and would not hesitate to use them again that does not make me a mole that makes me someone who counts the pennies and reads T&C's over and over again before I confirm anything.

Lets get back on topic please. This is a complaints forum. If you wish to discuss the benefits of different travel companies then there is a forum for it further down the page.

This section is for complaints.

how is sending someone a Private message spamming? not that it was me but i thought that is what a message system is for sending messages..surely if it is details of a government organisation it is not a self interested spam message.. I for one would appreciate guidance on the use of the messaging system if this is classed as spam

spamming is the posting of or the e-mailing of or the pm'ing of

1] un wanted /asked for information

2] information to advertise or promote

3] unsavory mail

so how does the message sent to Kelly fall into the spam category then?

A spam message is usually a message that is unsolicited and send by a member that is either new or whose sole purpose of registering here is to send PMs.

As we don't have access to individual member's PMs we rely on our members to make us aware of such practices.

it does not look to me like Spamming.
it looks as if someone has sent kelly some information about OTB that she thought other members may be interested in.
still, i'm sure kelly will be able to advise if she felt this was a Spam attack.
Reply
Possibly spamming because consumer direct can, as I understand it, only offer advice or direct you to a regulator or other organisation if they are better suited to assist. As such they are unlikely to be investigating complaints as they cannot intervene and have no legal standing.
