Have fun all you 1st Julyers! Bet you will get the best treatment out of all of us, being the first customers!
Ok just read through a post that has made me panic, about passports, my children's passports run out at the end of this year so thought all was fine until the post said "a full 6 months left" well the kids wont it will be 5 months. I also thought that as Greece is within Europe and a country covered by the new E111 then this rule doesn't apply it is only for when you travel outside of the EU, and especially important for any visit to the States. Am really worried now as no time to get new ones now in time before we travel unless I go direct to head office and pay a fortune.
TRUDIE its a bit long but
Thanks Wizard I have read through and it has said that travelling to Greece only requires a valid passport for the duration of the holiday however this thread was dated back in 2004 so I will phone tomorrow to check with the embassy in London as the passport helpline (which we have just tried doesn't no ) but stopped having a panic attack for now anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Try contacting the agent you booked through and check I had to renew mine earlier in the year someone told me that you cant now just go to one of the passport agencies and get a new passport, yes you can go and take all the supporting documents direct but they still post the passport out to your home address and still charge you a fortune for the pleasure.
I was told i needed 6 months when i asked.
if you renew your passports with the post office and pay a little extra then they check the forms and you get your new passports back within 2 weeks
My hubby only had one month left on his passport and as we only booked KABC a fortnight ago, as a last minute, he booked an appointment with the passport office in London - He took his old passport, new photo's and the passport form and they processed his new passport within four hours. He went shopping in London whilst he was waiting and returned home the same day with new passport. It did cost him £98.50 though....ouch!!

It's gonna be a mad rush....................aaaaaaaaaaah!
If I left it till last minute I would forget my knickers, sun cream and bikinis knowing me.
You better get cracking
2 days I am sooooooooo jealous
Happy Holidays everyone
Don't worry Nicola I'm not packed either. Will do it tomorrow night as we are out Friday night. If it is as hot as they say won't need much anyway
We have just renewed my wifes passport and got a new one for our 11 month old.
The Passport office is pretty quick these days
It took 2 weeks for my wifes to come back, and 3 weeks for my babys and that was after correcting a mistake i made on the form.
The form even asks if you are travelling in the next 4 weeks
Got Friday off work so I plan to get everything packed then although the weather is supposed to be nice so I bet I end up sitting in the garden and the packing will get done Friday night/sat morn.......
I suppose my idea is the less time in the suitcase the less creased everything gets
They have got hairdryers and irons in the rooms haven't they?????
Am i going mad or did the spec also say microwaves??? I am sure I read that somewhere???
Yes they have got microwaves but am intrigued as to what you are going to do with your clothes in there!! Don't think there is an iron but they should have laundry facilities.
I've never known all inclusive offer microwaves in the rooms?? Bizarre!
Well at least if the restaurant is not open we will be able to heat a ready meal up.
Nicola, there were hairdryers in the room at the Tropical last year, but they weren't that great. They were in the bathrooms, and if there are 2 or 3 of you in the room, this might be a bit of a nuisance (if there anything like my hubby and kids lol). So if you have a travel dryer, you might be better packing it.
Hope you all have a great time
Lee
Thanks everyone, I am going to fill in all the forms tomorrow regardless and will do the check and send route through the post office just to be on the safe side however from the link that the Wizard gave me it says a lot that our passport people tell everyone they must have at least 6 months when it is not always correct hence why I am going to ring the Greek embassy to find out. I will let you know what the outcome from them is. I am not going to stress out over it as there is nothing I can do at the moment.
Not long to go bet those of you that are off in the next few days are getting excited. Things seem to be looking good so get out your cozy's and sun glasses, and have a great holiday. Just think you lot will be the first to sleep in the beds, no broken sun beds, everything brand new so fill your glass and have a wonderful holiday.
