As the title suggests, we are considering visiting the Maldives in July this year at the Kuredu Island.

All the brochures say different about the weather, so i was wondering if anyone had any personal experience?

Thanks

Don't know but well done for choosing to travel to one of the tsunami affected areas - these areas need our continued support as tourists.

it was why i choose it especially.

At Kuredu (which is a lovely island) you can snorkel off the jetty - you walk to the furthest point, climb in down steps and swim to the reef about 50metres away. If you don't like to go out too far, you can just happily snorkel about in the shallow water and still see plenty!
I saw a turtle about 10 yards in off the beach.
Also there is an area called the "pipe" to the left of the jetty if you were facing the sea, with plenty of nice fish to look at.
My other half doesn't like deep water, and I don't like boats, so Kuredu was perfect for both of us.
Enjoy!

Hi - we stayed in Kuredu last March. Fabulous island, in my opinion!
There are "proper" sun loungers by the swimming pool. Depending on what type of room you're in (I think you're in a Beach bungalow?) you may only get a half lounger for outside your room. You can always lie on the sand?

To be honest, I was too hot to lie anywhere for long, spent most of my day in the water, or in the bar. I mean, shade!.

I hope you enjoy it. I think they've been doing some of the BBungalows up. Try the Kuredu website, if you haven't already... there is a guestbook.

Whatever Island you go to, first thing to do is check out the tides. These create strong currents on some reefs. We were on a boat trip & 1st stop was a reef just off an Island (their house reef) guide told us to get in water at end of reef & drift down to other end where boat would pick us up. 1st person in leaped out as strong tide was running in opposite direction!!!!! Had to move boat & snorkel down reef in opposite direction to originally intended. Currents can be very strong between Islands * change with the tides so be carefull, I suggest you get a blow up snorkel vest before leaving UK not much in luggage & about £40 worth it's weight in gold!! Hi, we stayed on Kuredu Island May 2003.

We stayed in a water villa which had full size loungers on the decking but I am not sure whether the beach bungalows had these (although I would expect them to).

There was a small fridge in the room which was the minibar. There was not a lot of room for anything in there other then the supplies that are put in and these are very expensive.

Have a lovely time, it is a beautiful island!

If you've upgraded, these sites have some photos of inside/outside the Beach Villa. (and pretty much everything else on the island!!)

This one shows the inside of a beach bungalow (although I think it is from 4/5 years ago:

Beach Villas/Jacuzzi Villas/Water Bunglaows are all pretty similar inside. They're all really nice, and will look exactly as they do on the Island website.... if not better :D

Hi all, I've just booked my next excursion and I'm off to Kuredu Island in the Maldives.
There's four of us going and we've made sure we get from Male to the island by seaplane.
Does anybody have any info about the island? Are there any problems with the All Inclusive package?
Anybody have any tips?
I'm sure it's going to be perfectly fine, but I do like to make the most of these forums.

Thanks to all

Rob.

I can kind of help! My friend honeymooned at Kuredu in December and had a fab time.....they did say the island was a bit more 'lively' than they had anticipated for the Maldives.

Howver, they did stay on the Sangu side on the island, and so were alot happier there.

As for October, I went form 9th - 22nd October 2004, and had AMAZING weather. Maybe we got lucky, but we had (pure) sunshine all the time apart from one morning when it rained till 10am, and once it rained at 5pm for half an hour. Apparently about 10 days before we were there they had a week on wind of rain which was unusual they said.

hope this helps!

Thanks a lot. I've visited the forum on http://www.kuredu.com and should receive a DVD soon. I do hear that water isn't included in the All Inclusive, is this true?

Hi Bobo
We stayed on Kuredu in March 2004 and thought it was a fabulous island. We stayed in the "Sangu" part, in a Water Villa.
Which type of room are you in? That will determine which restaurants/bars you have access to.

When we were there, water was NOT included in AI (which I found a bit irritating) but it wasn't too expensive to buy. The food was great - lots of different choice at each meal, and a good variety from day to day. The rooms all look good - the only difference between Beach Villa, Jacuzzi Villa & Water Villa is the location on the island and the type of bathroom / garden or deck. The bedroom itself is pretty similar.

Not sure about the Beach Bungalows as we didn't get to look inside of any of those.

The island itself is small, as you would expect, and beautiful. There is a pool, but with the wonderful warm Indian ocean on our doorstep, we didn't use it. The snorkelling was great, even just off the beach.

The staff are great - beautiful people who genuinely want to see you having a fantastic holiday.

All in all, we had an amazing time there... and I am sure you will too. :)

Hi all

We went to Kuredu in Feb 05 for my 30th Birthday. Wow.....I was so over whelmed by everything when I got there, I think I cried most of the first night!!!

We booked through First Choice and originally booked a beach villa. We then got obssessed with http://www.kuredu.com and their forum (which have loads of great tips from previous visitors). We discovered that we could upgrade direct with Kuredu via email. We upgraded to a Watervilla for the 2 weeks, but after the first week we fancied trying out the Jacuzzi Beach Villa, and they sorted it all for us and we had our 2nd week there. The Sangu end of the island has the nicer beach, and this is where the sun sets, which are fantastic! We can home with about 500 pics of sunsets!!!

We are now looking to go back in Feb 06, as it is such a perfect place. The staff are so friendly and everything was so clean, and the food was great. You still have to pay for bottled water, but for 1ltr is was about US$1.50, so not much. It also worked out cheaper upgrading rooms direct with Kuredu as they work in US$. You also pay at the end of the holiday by credit card for everything.

Dont bother taking any shoes, I took loads of flipflops, and only wore one pair! And that was on the plan home!!! Remeber loads of suncream, we run out, but there is a shop which sells it, but a little pricey.

I think I have dribbled on far too long now! You must go and have fun there guaranteed.
