Great clips Sanji, I could almost feel the heat from the fire coming through my computer screen. One of the best nights (and weeks) of the year to be in Benidorm, in my opinion.

Hi David.
Yes it did get a trifle warm  and all those people started backing away from the heat when it really took hold.....all backing on to me, trying to make a video. :rofl

That's what you call a controlled fire, the fire brigade did an excellent job, although the water sprayed over the crowd at times...I'm just glad I had the sense to stand well back.

I could never see anything like that being allowed in the UK, but the Spanish just take it as it comes and the next morning you wouldn't have ever known what had taken place the night before, it was all cleaned up and traffic were flowing over the spot where the fire had been, the only tell-tale sign was the road where the heat from the fire had melted/burnt the tarmac...they've probably been and repaired that by now.

When all those fireworks shot out of the bottom of the effigies, I wasn't expecting it and it frightened the poo out of me :rofl

I was lucky this time, I followed them into the sky with the camcorder ...I was all over the place when I did the Three Kings Parade, but, it did help having my feet firmly on the ground.

I think that is part of the enjoyment for the firemen !!

I remember watching it a few years ago, and there was a dodgem ride inside the cordon just next to the fire. Just before the fire was lit, a massive tarpaulin was pulled over the dodgem carousel and the firemen kept hosing it down while the bonfire burned. I had assumed that the dodgems were closed while the fire was burning, but just when the fire was dying down, the tarpaulin fell off the carousel and I was shocked to see kids riding around in the dodgems just feet away from what had been a massive blaze. Some of the fireworks did go slightly astray too, and landed on the balconies of residential apartments. It is an amazing spectacle - but not without its risks !!

That particular year, there had been a lot of very serious injuries in the Valencia festivities.

Here's some good info, Sue
I wanted to see the Offering of Flowers that took place on Tuesday night (18th), but by the time we got up to San Jaime Church, it was all over, but the flowers on display on a platform outside, smelt lovely....you really could smell their scent when the breeze wafted your way.
