Please see here and here.

I got my flight changed to the following Monday, as 2 1/2 hours sat still on the transfer would have killed my mum with her joint problems...

Transfer time isn't very different - it`s a slow run down the mountasin from Taba Internaitonal.
Sharm airport may have more to offer...

From talking to Longwood people at Taba, it appears that the drop in business since the Dahab bombs has been so great that the thursday flight to Taba with Astraeus is just not viable at the moment. This is obviously terrible for all the spanking new hotels in Taba and further south, hence the "silly" prices some of them are offering for the next few months. I suppose that those of us who dont feel threatened at all when visiting Egypt will in fact benefit from the prices not rising as it appeared that they would do 12 months ago.

I hope that the longer transfer time from Sharm up to N. Sinai will not deter even more people from visiting this lovely area, although from a business point of view one can see Longwood's predicament.

Personally, i'd like to see Longwoods review using Monarch airlines on their monday flights, as, compared with Astraeus, I find them to be an absolute shambles! On my recent trip, the plane was filthy both ways, the crew, with the odd exception were grumpy and discourteous, the food, and I use the word food loosely, was even more awful that the normally awful airline food, both flights were late taking off and landing, we even had to return via Venice on the way back to refuel. They ran out of snacks completely when everybody on the plane hadn't eaten for eight hours and the expensive "pub in the sky" almost ran out of booze! To crown everything off nicely, one of my suitcases got smashed to smithereens on the outward journey!

Not looking forward to the coach journey from Sharm, but the Hyatt is worth the trip.

We were there last October and the place was full of Russians. Hopefully the bombs have put them off this year. Incedentally we have always felt safe in the hotel - we were there 2 years ago when the bombs in Taba and further down the coast went off . We were sitting on the balcony when the bangs came. At first we thought it was thunder!!! They even had some of the injured staying at the Hyatt!!!

Has anyone actually done the trip between Sharm and Taba? Is it a coach, minibus or taxi?

It will obviously depend on how many thursday arrivals they have for the hotels that Longwoods use in Taba, Nuweiba and maybe even Dahab, Shirley. I dont know if they are still taking bookings for thursday arrivals at Taba and Nuweiba, but if they are, i'm sure, knowing Longwoods that you will have a nice modern coach with toilet facilities, such as they are! If you do end up with a mini-bus or even a taxi, it will have a/c and i'm sure that they will make comfort stops en route.

Has anyone else seen the Peltours holidays advertised , seemingly for a limited period, flying out of Leeds / Bradford ? It's on my doorstep so to speak and would have been very tempting but for the prices quoted.

From what I've seen Leeds/Bradford and Bristol flights are starting up in the autumn.
