hi,

sometimes i have seen the residence cheaper than the village, but as bridd has mentioned, you would need accomodation in the village for your party,
also you will read on here people making refrence to the residence and the village, they are not in different compounds, just different areas of the resort and you can use both. most activity takes place on the village side, it's just really different types of accomodtion.... we stay at the residence as they have lifts to all floors ( 3 ) hence my mother being 67 !!turkish heat does her bones good :rofl

also dont take any towels both beach and room towels are provided as is shampoo, shower cream ( dove brand ), there is a 24hr bottle / kitchen for feeding little ones but not sure if baby food / nappies are supplied,

if any more info is required then please ask before i go there in 8 days :pele :pele :pele :hols

Actually, another question:
- I think we'd go at the end of June 2011. Do you think it would be completely crowded by then, even though the English schools wouldn't yet be off?
- reading Trip Advisor reviews, one thing that did seem to crop up (even with positive reviews!) was the ineffective air conditioning. Your thoughts?
- did you have any experience of tummy upsets whilst there? We were in Egypt a couple of years ago and it was a nightmare for that.

Thanks again!

hi,

it will be busy as uk schools may not be finished but you do get the russians and germans with children, its just means that you will have to be up a little early if you want a certain position at the main pool or a sunbead on the beach. the aircon is great, you activate it when you put your room card in the slot on the wall for all your electric, idea !! ..... take a plastic card like tesco clubcard and leave it in slot .... aircon will stay on all day while your out !!

We've never had tummy upsets there but then we didn't get them in Egypt either. If you are unlucky there'e a medical centre by the Village reception that should help sort you out.

Ronreg, your room is what we stayed in, cat 3 which have a balcony, we had 2 of them as we are 2 adults and 4 children. We had a lovely large bathroom and then a double bed with a bed settee - there was plenty of room. There are only 2 floors and we stayed on the upper one and had lovely views of the garden.
We stayed in block L which is furthest from the main amenities but next to the adult only pool. We enjoyed the walk through the gardens and would happily stay there again.

Hope that helps.

A totally fab tip re the air conditioning, thanks Gregg! :tup

At the end of June, I guess it will be really hot. Are wee cardigans necessary for the children in the evenings, do you think? Not sure how much the temperature drops then. Don't want to waste valuable packing space and weight, if we don't really need to cover up at night.

Thanks again, folks x

ps if I don't come on again before you leave Gregg, hope you and your mum have a fab time. Wish we were going this year instead of having to wait for next. Och well, a week in the Lakes is far better than nothing :)

That is a good idea, however it is also a terrible waste of energy and not very environmentally friendly. It's nice to go back in to a chilled room, but it's a lot of wasted energy if you won't be in there through the day. I would suggest you do the above, but don't leave the card in all day when you won't be there, leave a window or patio door open, bearing security in mind. Go up to the room and insert the card say 30 minutes before you return to your room. That way, you have a nice chilled room but don't waste all the energy through the day. You can have an extra drink in the evening then to celebrate the extra few kg's of CO2 you've saved :tup

Daz,

I meant to say put in the card just before you leave for your evening meal that way it will be cool when you return for the night.

cheers for the reminder on o zone !! :cheers

Hi lardylegs - it will be hot in June but very little ones may need a cardi if you're sitting out late at the beach bar where there is sometimes a cooler breeze. Our youngest travelled in a fleece which doubled as a late night cover up when he was smaller. We've never experienced tummy upsets there, and found the air con to be adequate, also using a club card. The air con in the baby room, and in the kids cinema was excellent and a good enough reason for my youngest to watch the odd video in the afternoon (where I sometimes joined him!).

A tip for the kids club if you have very small ones and feel nervous about leaving them - there is a shallow pool with sunloungers and parasols right next to the shaded baby pool in the kids club, separated by a gated picket fence. This pool doesn't seem to get that busy for some reason and I used to sign my son in for pool games in the Lykie Club, and sit on a sunlounger by the shallow pool to keep an eye on him without him noticing.

I am still hoping to return next year and at the moment direct holidays seem to be coming out cheapest.

Have a great time Gregg and charlyharrywag and please let us know how things have changed, or not, when you get back!

Thanks Anice, very helpful x

Gregg, what's the policy on tipping at LW? We're used to All Inclusive, where you just tip for particularly good service or at the end of your stay. It could work out expensive at LW if one tends to tip after every meal.
Also, do guests staying at the Village get to use the free washing machines? I'm sure I read somewhere that they're located at the Residence...

Thanks again and have fun!

Hope you don't mind me answering but Gregg might be busy packing. There are two self serve laundries - one in the residence and one inthe village. You can use either. Take your own wash tabs. I've never seen anyone tip at Lykia World apart from on their last day. Most people I know give something to their favourite waiters or whoever before they go home. We don't carry money in the hotel anyway.

Hope Gregg has a fab holiday!!!

Gregg

We go this Friday for 10 days...cant wait (have a good'un yourself)

Anice

Thanks, I'll let you know how the holiday went

Lardylegs

When you arrive at LW or very soon after, sign up to the LW Loyalty Card (free)

When you come to settle your bill at the end of the holiday, they add the points to your account. The first time you are there you dont get any reward but if you go back in the next two years, your points are converted into currency and then you can take what ever you totalled (the previous year) off of the bill you are settling (hope that makes sense). (If you dont go back within two years you lose the points)

We have done it the passed two years and it certainly helps reduce the cost.

hi,
sorry but i have been busy last few days, thanks Bridd, also there are now tip boxes around the bar and reception areas, so we leave our change on departure also we tip the bellboy when he drops our luggage to our room £5.

theres also Irons in the laundry room, you cannot take them to your roon as they are padlocked to stop them walking but are very good.

Charlieharrywag, have a good flight and leave some lovely food for when i arrive on monday at 4pm !! :rofl

if you want to put a face to the name ... it would be nice to have a drink n chat with you and your family on monday evening.... we will be sat in the village area where the cain chairs / tables are and near the bar that sells ice creams / and have the special restaurants, will be the guy with no or very little hair :rofl
