Are most of the activities for teens payable ? I have some Euro notes which I am assuming they will take, but also some Euro travellers cheques. Will I be able to pay direct by the cheques of will I need to change them to Lira first, if its the later I assume Lykia has exchange facilities ?

Thanks, Doe

They will take TCs and any currency you want to give them.

I'm not sure what you mean by teen activities. Some things you need to pay for are:

Scuba diving
Motorised watersports like water skiing and jet skis. (but not windsurfers, canoes and laser boats)
Excursions out-with the hotel like white water rafting, boat trips etc.
Golf
10 pin bowling
Machines in the games room

Things that are free:
Tennis (but not coaching)
Archery
Football
Volleyball
Basketball
In line skating
Water polo
Indoor and outdoor cinema
Gym
Waterpark
Table tennis
Aerobic classes

Some activities are free if they do them as part of the group - like the climbing wall and the banana boat, but you have to pay if they want to do it individually.

Thanks Bridd that's really helpful. :) and was the kind of things I meant. I am impressed with the amount of things included. I don't think I have been anywhere with those sorts of things on offer included in the price, need to pack the tennis rackets. Also don't think I have heard of climbing wall and banana boats being included before even when done in a group so that's great. :tup

Definately take your own tennis rackets. They have some there but they are rubbish. You also need your own balls. There are some organised tennis tournaments but the tennis coaches are not Lykia staff - they run a franchise and they are only interested in running events which lead to them getting coaching work.

I normally buy my son a few tennis lesson whereever we go on holiday, so I might do the same at Lykia, trouble is he is used to playing here in our temperatures, and playing in somewhere like Turkey in the July is a whole different ballgame. Need to get on the courts very early or late. ;)

Last year there was a small charge for the group activities that you mention Bridd although it was very nominal, about 4 - 5 euros, so this may have changed since you last went. The kids sign up to them and they are added to your bill payable at reception. Ours did the climbing wall, banana boats and jetskis this wasy and it certainly worked out alot cheaper than doing them seperately.

Thanks for the clarification pamplemouse. I have some Euros left from a previous holiday that I will be able to use for this, will definately look at them doing the activities as group ones. Also it might help them to make friends.

Playing tennis in July in Turkey could seriously damage your health. I used to go in July and would play at 6am and by 7.30 it was getting hot. We would sometimes play at 6 in the evening as one or two of the courts get a bit of shade from the trees by then. There's a booking system so work out which courts these are and book them. I can't remember which number the shady ones were. We would take lots of water with us and there's a shady bar by the courts so you can flop with a beer afterwards.

Must have been costing them too much Pamplemousse. The Hammam used to be free when we started going to Lykia World but they charge for that now too.

Yes I can imagine that Bridd, but it was still well worth it as it still worked out at only a couple of £'s each. Incidently the under 12's are passengers on the jetskis, not sure about the teen group, and for all activities life jackets were provided. The younger groups were asked if they wasnted to fall off the banana boats too and if some didn't they weren't made to. My two eldest were a little disappointed by this lol.
:offtop slightly, but if you go on any boat trips (including the ones bookable from Lykia) whilst there remember to take some money with you. We had only a little on us and weren't aware that when you stop off for a swim little boats come by and barter their wares such as ice-creams, pancakes or dougnut rides. This was our first time to Turkey and we hadn't been prepared for this.

Cor blimey certainly wouldn't have fancied playing Tennis during last June's heatwave lol. In fact I can't remember seeing anyone on the courts whenever I passed, probably all trying to cool off in the pools, I certainbly was.

Top-notch info coming through, so thanks folks. Think you might be right about the temps for tennis :( hubbie looked like he ws going to have a coronary playing it in Gozo a few years back, but sounds like a load of other fun stuff for them to do at Lykia anyway. :)

You're welcome doemsmc :) I'm just green with envy you're going and not me!! :cry

Still hopefully try for next year, although I am getting some good reviews now for this years choice.

You and the family will certainly be spoilt for choice. All mine were kept totally entertained the whole fornight - in fact the then 10 & 8 yr old never once went near the football courts as there was so much for them, and that's really saying something as they're really avid players normally on holiday and it wasn't even to do with the weather.

Can't remember how old your kids are, but the kids' participation shows really aren't to be missed. My elder one wouldn't join in with the first week's one but when he saw how great it was, was more than happy to be part of the next weeks.

They are 15 and 13, so hopefully it will be OK for them. I would have liked to take them a few years ago but could never get Lykia at a good price. I will be interested to see how you get on at Aqua Fantasy as it might be OK for me next year. Sorry better not got :offtop or Briar will be after me.

i think once you have been to lykia world it spoils you and its difficult to find a hotel as good, so im worried about going to aegean dream next month too

Can't wait to hear about your hotel too ellie_meg. We all seem to be after similar facilities so it's a great little club to belong to ;)

They'll have a fantastic time doepsmc, and the Lykia resort offers them great independance but peace of mind for you too - Enjoy :sun2

This thread is making for such interesting reading if that makes sense lol!

How do you know what to dreass the kids in for the kids clubs? i mean do you get to know in advance what they will be doing incase they need swimming stuff eg: if they going on banana boats or to the kids paradise obviously they will need swimwear, It's just I notice that as the clubs run all day how do they find time to change etc do I send them with a back pack or is there a break between each activity? I am used to the kind of kids clubs that only run for 2 hours at a time, once or twice a day! It will be interesting to know how those of you with kids coped around the kids club hours etc did you leave them for a good few hours?

Also the little free bus, does that go right around all of the village apartment blocks or do you have to walk to a main bus stop type of thing?

ellie wouldnt go to the kids club so i can help you there

the bus/train thing stops at certain places so there are plenty of stops to wait at you are never far from 1, they came regular every 15-20 mins approx when we were there

When our 2 were younger we used to send them off in the morning wearing swim shorts, a t shirt hat and water shoes. Depending on the programme, (which is on display in advance) they might take a back pack with sunscreen and a towel. The clubs start at 10 and normally broke for lunch around 12.30 so they would often come and find us then.
There are bus stops all over but not among the village rooms. They run in a circuit from the beach, past the Marina restaurant, up to the village reception, then on to the waterpark and then back the other way.
It doesn't take long to walk through the village rooms area. Where the bus scores is going up the hill from the beach/Marina to the water park.

Thanks girls! Would you have any idea which age group kids club my 12 & half year old would be better suited to? He is at that awkward age where he's in between! I'd rather he was with my other two who will be 11 & 9 but if that club is too childish then he won't be happy but then again I don't want him mixing with really 'grown up' teens either, I guess I will prob have to wait and see when we get there but any advice would be appreciated?

Oh and do they serve milk for the kids to drink with their meals? My 11yr old would prefer milk but I guess it won't taste the same as ours anyway? You know that question sounds familiar I apologise if I've asked that before!

Only 7 weeks left and today will be our fisrt day at Lykia after a horrid night flight! But can't wait all the same! :cheers Just hope the weather gets a bit hotter, do you think it will???
