Hi all - just wanted to reassure everyone that the stomach bug I too suffered from (like Twinkletoes) on my return from Lykia came up completely negative. Since I drank from water jugs, dispensers, and swam in several of the pools including the kids paradise, it seems safe to say that I was just unlucky and picked up a rather nasty gastroenteritis type thing, and that it was nothing to do with Lykia's hygeine (which I've always said seemed excellent). I'm really glad, because I'm sure we will go back again, and I didn't want to feel that I should be wary of anything if we do. Hope that doesn't seem too :offtop and I promise not to mention it again!

Hi mamajama,

I went last week of june and in sept last year - sept was completely different to the one in june, the nights came in early and no sunset, the pools were freezing, ok to just have a quick dip and out again but it was ok to lounge on the sunbeds in the warm heat buy you only got about 4-6 hours of sun as it didnt show untill either 10 or 11am and was gone by 3pm, i also noticed that there was very little staff around and the tables were not being cleared so quickly, also the selection of fruit was just oranges, apples and bananas.

To be honest I would not go in sept again and if i had to i would go in the first week, i am sorry to spoil things if you were looking forward to going but like i said it was completely different to my june holiday,
pay more and go early you will enjoy it for what we all know what lykia world is about !!

got my tickets today so i am well pleased, but just remember that when your back at home i will be on my hols :rofl

I booked this one a year ago and also got one in during september and i have also booked for june next year - so it is what everyone says on here - excellent venue for all the family with or without children,

enjoy your holiday we all look forward to reading your reviews when you return. :cheers

We went in the first week of September a couple of years back and it was my favourite time. We have also been in June and July. We had hot days and pleasant nights, sunsets and all the usual lovely food and so on. I would go back in September with no hesitation. Maybe late September is different?

Arriving 17th July 2008. Has anyone managed to secure an early check-in/curtesey room? We arrive at 4am but our check in is 2pm?
We have an 11 year old and 13 year old and staying in a category 4 in the village. I presumed this was a 2 bed family room but have read about a "short" sofa bed not suitable for over 7's. Can anyone clarify?
Is children's paradise more for the younger one's?
Will I get to meet Victor Meldrew?

You won't need an early check in rooom. Your own room will have been available from the day before. You might need one when you leave if you have a late flight.
There are beds for 4 plus a sofa bed in cat 4 rooms.
Paradise has some big adult sized slides.

Thanks for your reply Bridd. Our check in day is the 17th so our room is not available until 2pm that day. We have been told by Lykia that if I want my room available on arrival at 4am I will have to pay for another full days accomodation for what is effectively 4 hours sleep until the breakfast restaurant opens? I've asked them to come up with some alternatives!

That's the last thing you need after a journey. Hope you get it sorted.

Hi Tight wad, Regarding the cat 4 rooms and the short sofa bed, this is a 3rd extra bed if you are a family of 5 you would need to use it but as you only have 2 kids then they will be fine in the 2nd bedroom as these are 2 normal sized beds. The short sofa bed is in the adult bedroom and is basically just a 2 seater sofa that they put bedding on, they don't pull it out or anything to make it bigger, we were dissapointed when we saw it but please don't worry if there are the 4 of you, you will fit in fine!

Hi Gregg, don't forget to let us all know how your hol to Lykia goes! Our boys would love to go back but the prices for next year are ridiculous, we are stuck with who we can book through as we part pay with Tesco vouchers so we can' t look anywhere else and the cost for the 5 of us to go the same time next year is £1,500 more than than we paid for this years hol and that would be in the cat 4 room which we discovered the sofa bed in the adult bedroom is too short for our son now and he is only going to keep growing! So we would need to pay even more to get interconnecting rooms. We have been looking at alternative places to go and have actually found we can go to the Carribean AI in a 4 star hotel for less than it would cost to go to Lykia, that was a shocker I can tell you. :think

Anyone booked direct with Lykia Group for next year or any idea on price rises apart from with tour operators? Flight prices looking similar to this year.

We booked in Aug 07 for July 08 and think we got 2007 prices - expecting to be pressured to book for 09 when we get back from this trip and could do with knowing what next year's prices are like.

3 weeks today!

Hi all, It is our first time to Lykia World (we arrive on 16th July). We are staying in the village in category 4 rooms. Can you help with the following:

How far is the Marina restaurant from Cat 4 rooms. We are planning to eat there first night and gather we should arrive pre 6.45 but how long is the hike?

Do we get given an itinery of entertainments. Where should we head after eats with a 11 and 13 year old?

Is there places to eat in childrens paradise or do you have to walk back to main restaurants for lunch?

Thanks

hi

at a guess its probably around 5-8 mins walk depending how fast or slow you walk, i think you will be in blocks k or t which is 1 of the furthest from the marina, we stayed in block t and loved it, fab sea views. there is a kids restaurant in the paradise that adults can eat in too, the food is limited but we ate there a few times as couldnt be bothered to walk to the main restaurant in the heat, there is a little bus that goes around approx every 15-20 mins that you could catch if you want but we only used it a few times. we didnt get given a itinery when we were there but you can see adverts of what is happening that night around the main area. there is a show on every night in ampitheatre too, and a customer relation office for information in the main central area, hope this helps

You should be given a leaflet when you check in with a programme of that week's events and meal themes. If not, you can pick one up in reception or guest relations desk. They have them in various languages. Ask if they forget to give it to you. If you go for 2 weeks you will have to go and get one for the second week. Notice boards also tell you this info as ellie-meg said.

To anyone who holiday'd in the back end of July. How was the heat?

Hi tightwad - you can pick up a leaflet thingy detailing what's on where and when from reception/customer relations etc. After dinner (wow - you'd be able to get a table for 30 of you anywhere at 6.45!) most people head for the nightly show at the ampitheatre. "Most people" also head to the main village bar/dancefloor area after the show so seats and tables are at a premium - but half an hour later lots of people have retired for the evening. Just chill ... If we were up for a lively evening with friends we made (so 12 of us) we would make sure we had seats and table at the main village bar but if not, no worries - catch a chilled cocktail at the beach bar (or one of the residence bars). Your two children's ages would probably like to be in the thick of things though - my mild-mannered 13yr daughter absolutely LOVED!!! the "white night" party there last year - like being in a top club but (safe) with your family there too!

anice

PS would also be interested to hear of heat/busy-ness at the end of july (perhaps we wont be so chilled this time!!)
